Chapter 205
Chapter 14 of Chapter 205 – The So-Called Family Status
The familiar spirit, Nue, flapped its wings silently, crossing over Yukinoshita Manor’s roof unseen and vanishing abruptly.
Yukinoshita Yono climbed back into her room through the window, unstrapping the brand-new guitar case from her back and leaving it haphazardly by the wall corner.
This time, the clone wasn’t up to mischief, not looking at inappropriate things; instead, it quietly leaned back in an ergonomic chair with a thick masterpiece open in its hands, but its head was hanging down, already asleep like a baby on closer inspection.
Though uncertain if clones built through techniques require physiological needs such as eating, drinking, relieving oneself, or sleeping, this clone behaved well by not causing trouble.
Yukinoshita Yono reabsorbed the clone, changed into comfortable loungewear, and stepped out of her room to dine with her family.
There was one thing that intrigued Lin Qi greatly.
When she first possessed Yukinoshita Yukino, the girl was awkward, making life troublesome until later when she reluctantly accepted it.
Yet, Yukinoshita Yono seemed indifferent about it, acting freely and fearlessly whether dressing herself or bathing.
After questioning, Yukinoshita Yono’s cheeks subtly flushed, pretending nonchalance: “What’s the issue? It’s your body after all. Arguing over inevitable matters sounds silly.”
Lin Qi wanted to retort that her sister was naïve, yet refrained.
If Yuno knew he had seen her bare form entirely, she would likely erupt in anger.
At the dinner table, Yukinoshita Father was arranging dishes, while in the kitchen Yukinoshita Mother was bustling about.
Though a maid prepares breakfast and lunch daily, Father would join at dinner, leading Mother to cook personally.
Watching her eldest daughter emerge from her room, Yukinoshita Father placed the tray, glanced nervously toward the kitchen, then whispered to Yuno: “I’ll keep your mother occupied tonight, you can sneak out.”
“Of course, no drinking allowed. Better wait until you’re twenty or older.”
Noticing his sneaky demeanor, Yukinoshita Yono smiled, shook her head, “No need, I’m not going out tonight.”
“Eh? Oh…” the man puzzled, strangely eying his cute daughter.
Why wouldn’t she go out tonight?
Does she mean she’s already slipped out today?
Smiling faintly, Yukinoshita Yono held her silence, Yukinoshita Father understood, silently returning to fetch more food.
As everyone settled around the dinner table, Yukinoshita Mother asked, “What did Yuno do today? Spent all afternoon locked in her room.”
“Read for a bit and slept.” Yuno honestly replied – the initial reading was her clone’s work, and the sleep part, Lin Qi’s.
“Resting adequately is fine, but excessive naps are detrimental. You should manage your time better, focusing more on your tasks.” Mother calmly noted.
“Uh-huh.” Yuno absentmindedly nodded, occasionally poking at rice in her bowl.
She thought about how to get the guitar into the house smoothly.
Seeing Yuno’s nonchalant manner, Yukinoshita Mother furrowed her brows.
Father’s gaze oscillated between his loved one and eldest daughter with sweat-drenched shirt under his undershirt.
“Let’s eat.” the county legislator tried to mitigate in front of his meek middle-aged position; quietened immediately when eyed by his beloved, lowering head to shovel rice.
“Yuno.” Mother’s tone hinted at dissatisfaction.
“Yes?” Yuno snapped to attention, glancing up at her stern-faced mother, bewildered.
Hmm? Why does mom look upset?
“Do you have something against my educational methods?” Mother bluntly inquired.
Short-haired girl froze, recalling earlier dinner talk; then realized her vague response plus recent events made Mother misinterpret her feelings.
Ultimately, all stemmed from Lin Qi taking her place and getting caught drinking – an incident that incensed Yuno.
But she had to settle down Mother first.
With an embarrassingly polite grin, “It’s fine… no complaints.”
Seeing such response, Mother perceived it as silent affirmation, yet due to respect for her daughter, kept silent, which in Mother’s eyes signified rebellion.
“If you have issues, be clear about them; education isn’t just one person’s job.” Mother spoke calmly, though her words carried hidden pressure.
Yukinoshita Yono was intimately familiar with, and intimidated by, this side of her Mother, feeling a momentary paralysis.
Mentally seizing on Lin Qi’s advice to express interest in learning the guitar, Yuno lifted her eyes briefly to her mother seated opposite before quickly lowering them, pressing lips and saying, “I want to learn the guitar.”
Mother’s calm face showed surprise at her daughter’s unexpected reply, “Just that?”
“So that could affect those courses you’ve planned,” she quickly added to make sense.
It seems her demanding attitude pressured Yuno; hence, the rebellious behavior and trying alcohol secretly behind her back.
Mother attributed Lin Qi’s behavior to stress, thinking Yuno sought solace in alcohol.
“I understand.” Matured in a bathrobe, Mother nodded, soft-spoken, “I didn’t notice your state, Mother’s fault…”
“I approve your request; maintain excellence, properly plan your time, avoid self-destructive acts like hidden drinking.”
“Okay.”
Compliantly nodding, Yukinoshita Yuno silently breathed relief.
At last, she got through it; thank goodness this demonic guy had some use.
Noticing normalcy restored between them, the always low-key father stood tall, “Since you will be learning the guitar, no time like the present—we’ll buy one right after dinner!”
Silently shooting him a glance similar to her mother’s, “No need, I can get one myself later.”
Feeling his dear daughter’s distancing words, the man’s smile froze, his complexion paling.
