Transmigrated Become Sukuna, but the host is Yukinoshita Yukino?

Chapter 291: Chapter 291: A Familiar Feeling Without Any Basis

"It feels like society has changed recently, and in a bad way."

At the dinner table, Yukinoshita's father couldn't help but speak.

The sharp rise in terrorist attacks and violent crimes over a short period had led many down the path of crime.

These days, walking at night in Tokyo had become much more dangerous.

Because of this, the middle-aged man had even adjusted his company's working hours, ending the workday an hour earlier to ensure his employees' safety.

"Don't talk about things like this during meals," Yukinoshita's mother scolded, giving him a glare. "Actually, don't bring it up at all."

After experiencing a terrorist attack firsthand, Yukinoshita's parents had been deeply worried about their daughters. They even took them to a psychologist for evaluation afterward.

Fortunately, both girls were fine.

Still, the couple decided to avoid mentioning the Chiba Airport attack in front of their daughters—or any similar topics, for that matter.

Yukinoshita's father had spoken out of frustration, unable to hold back his emotions.

But after his wife's warning, he quickly shut his mouth and silently focused on his rice.

Seeing her father back down so quickly, Yukinoshita Yukino couldn't help but let out a quiet laugh.

Noticing her family's gazes turn toward her, the little girl's cheeks instantly turned red.

Yukinoshita Haruno also found it a bit amusing.

After that terrifying attack, Hayashizaki hadn't been completely normal, but young Yukino, who was still in middle school at the time, showed no signs of psychological issues. She didn't even seem scared, which felt a bit odd.

"That's just how Yukino is. You wouldn't understand."

Hayashizaki's voice echoed in her mind.

"You think you understand Yukino-chan better than I do?" Yukinoshita Haruno immediately retorted, dissatisfied. "She's always been timid—getting scared would be the normal reaction, wouldn't it?"

"That's exactly what you don't understand."

"Don't compare the Yukino-chan from your side with the one here! This Yukino is still just a middle schooler!"

"And who told you that two different timelines wouldn't affect each other?"

Faced with Hayashizaki's question, Yukinoshita Haruno was momentarily speechless and couldn't find the words to reply.

"Then… are you saying that this Yukino can use cursed techniques now too?"

"Not to that extent." Hayashizaki paused before continuing, "But she has been affected in some way. Why don't you test it out and see for yourself?"

"That makes sense." The short-haired girl started thinking about it seriously. "Ugh, I feel like I've gotten dumber lately. It's definitely because you're stuck in my body."

"And somehow that's my fault now?" Hayashizaki responded, exasperated.

While chatting with Hayashizaki in her head, Yukinoshita Haruno calmly continued eating with her family, her expression unchanged.

After lunch—

Yukinoshita Yukino sat quietly at her desk, reading an English novel. But judging by her distracted gaze, the book didn't seem to hold her attention the way it usually did.

For some reason, she had this strange feeling, like something about her sister was pulling at her, making it hard to focus.

A faint sense of restlessness and unease trickled through her like fine grains of sand slipping through an hourglass—soft, yet persistent.

Knock, knock, knock.

A gentle tapping sounded at her door. As the dark-haired girl snapped out of her thoughts and looked up, she saw her sister sneaking in like a thief.

"Haruno?" Yukinoshita Yukino asked, puzzled. "Do you need something?"

Yukinoshita Haruno glanced outside first, making sure their parents hadn't noticed her, before carefully closing the door behind her.

Then, she grinned and asked, "Yukino, do you want to see Hayashizaki-kun?"

"Hayashizaki… -kun?"

Yukinoshita Yukino's eyes instantly lit up.

Realizing her reaction was too obvious, she quickly forced down the joy on her face, pressing her lips together slightly. "Wouldn't we be bothering him if we just showed up unannounced?"

Seeing her sister trying to suppress a smile, Yukinoshita Haruno suddenly felt uneasy.

Oh no… Could it really be like the demon guy said? Has Yukino already been influenced by the other timeline?

Ever since that incident in elementary school, Haruno knew her sister had been deeply hurt and had started shutting herself off emotionally.

Sending her to study overseas only made things worse.

When their mother first brought up the idea, Haruno had strongly opposed it. But in the end, her mother went ahead with it anyway.

Maybe she truly believed that an elite education abroad would help Yukino in a positive way.

But the same Yukino, who had locked herself away emotionally and built up walls around her, was now excited to see someone she had only met once?

It was true that Hayashizaki had left a strong impression on her during their first meeting, but from what Haruno knew about her sister, Yukino should have only felt gratitude toward him.

Yet, judging by her reaction now, her feelings clearly weren't that simple.

As she silently analyzed her sister's strange behavior, a sudden realization struck Haruno, making her eyes widen slightly.

Why… do I feel a little uncomfortable about Yukino-chan caring so much about Akuma-kun?

"Onee-chan?"

A cool, slightly puzzled voice pulled Yukinoshita Haruno's thoughts back to reality.

"Huh? What is it?"

"You suddenly zoned out," Yukinoshita Yukino looked at her sister in confusion.

"It's nothing."

The short-haired girl quickly adjusted her expression, putting on her usual flawless smile. She pushed aside the brief doubt that had popped into her mind.

"So, Yukino-chan, do you want to meet Akuma… I mean, Hayashizaki-kun?"

Yukinoshita Yukino blinked, her cute little face turning slightly red. "I-If it won't be a bother to Hayashizaki-kun…"

"It won't, it won't! That guy would love it!"

For some reason, the black-haired young man in the soul domain could sense a hint of jealousy in Yukinoshita Haruno's words.

"Really…? Then when are we leaving? Where will we meet?" The black-haired girl asked eagerly.

Seeing her sister trying—but failing—to hide her excitement, the short-haired girl sighed helplessly in her heart. Then she waved at her. "Just follow me."

Yukinoshita Haruno walked over to the window, pushed it open, and let the summer heat rush into the air-conditioned room.

Then, placing her hands on the window frame, she lightly stepped up, swung her legs over, and landed smoothly outside. Her movements were skilled and graceful.

The little girl was stunned.

"Onee-chan, why are we climbing out the window?"

Yukinoshita Yukino looked shocked. She felt that her sister's actions just now didn't match her usual image at all.

It was more like something the mischievous boys in her elementary school class would do.

"You dummy, isn't the situation outside still pretty bad? Not to mention, we just went through a terrorist attack. Mom and Dad definitely wouldn't let us go out easily, so we have to sneak out."

Yukinoshita Haruno explained helplessly.

"Why not just tell Father that we're going to thank Hayashizaki-kun?" Yukinoshita Yukino asked, puzzled.

"If we say that, won't Father come with us? Do you want him to tag along?" The short-haired girl countered.

The little girl thought for a moment, then shook her head and answered honestly, "No, I don't."

"Then there you go." Yukinoshita Haruno, already outside the window, urged, "Come on, Yukino-chan, don't tell me you can't even climb out a window?"

"I'm not an elementary school kid anymore, Onee-chan."

Hearing her sister's teasing, the black-haired girl's cute face immediately showed a look of displeasure.

Of course, she could climb out a simple window. She just had some concerns.

"What if Mom and Dad find out we snuck out? They'll worry, won't they?"

Not only would they worry, but the two of them would definitely get scolded and lectured harshly.

Yukinoshita Yukino couldn't imagine that scenario. She had almost never been scolded before, let alone for something like sneaking out of the house.

That was exactly why she instinctively felt a little afraid.

Yukinoshita Haruno was about to reassure her that their parents wouldn't find out, but then she stopped herself. Instead, she said, "That's just a risk we have to take. So, Yukino-chan, do you want to take that risk and sneak out to see Hayashizaki-kun, or do you want to stay home?"

The black-haired girl froze for a second. Then, pressing her lips together, she walked up to the window. Copying the short-haired girl's movements, she easily climbed out and landed steadily.

Yukinoshita Yukino looked at her sister without saying a word. But her actions had already given her answer.

Yukinoshita Haruno shrugged and turned to lead the way.

After the two sisters secretly slipped out of the house, two faint white figures suddenly appeared in Yukino's room, transforming into identical copies of Yukinoshita Haruno and Yukinoshita Yukino.

The two clones exchanged a silent glance before each found something to pass the time, minding their own business without interfering with each other.

…

Haruno didn't take her sister far—she simply found a bubble tea shop in Chiba's shopping district. After sitting down, she casually picked up her phone, pretending to contact Hayashizaki.

After fooling her younger sister, Haruno picked up the menu, planning to order two cold drinks to cool off from the summer heat.

"Let's wait for Hayashizaki to get here before ordering," Yukino said seriously, pressing the menu down with her hand.

Haruno immediately lost interest and pouted before sending an impatient message through their mental link: Hurry up and get here already. Yukino-chan won't even order until you arrive.

She wasn't sure if she was jealous that her cute little sister was thinking about Hayashizaki, or if she was jealous that Yukino had such a deep connection with him.

Or maybe, it was both.

Then again, even she wasn't entirely sure herself.

This must be because of the influence from the other timeline!

Haruno thought to herself.

I'm coming, I'm coming. Stop rushing me.

Just as Hayashizaki's voice echoed in Haruno's mind, the chime hanging at the entrance of the bubble tea shop let out a crisp ring, signaling a new customer.

The moment the chime rang, Yukino lifted her head and looked toward the entrance.

A young man with black hair, wearing a white shirt and black pants, walked in. His clean and sharp appearance immediately caught her eye.

Her deep blue eyes lit up, and a bright smile spread across her face. Standing up, she waved at Hayashizaki as he stepped inside.

Meanwhile, the short-haired girl sitting across from her watched her sister with a strange expression.

Who is this? Is this really my Yukino-chan? Since when did she become so eager?

When Hayashizaki reached their table, Yukino immediately bowed at a ninety-degree angle and sincerely said, "H-Hayashizaki, thank you for helping me find my family during the terror attack."

"You don't have to be so formal about it. It was the right thing to do," he said gently, reaching out to help her straighten up.

"No, I have to thank you properly. And just saying it isn't enough."

Yukino lifted her head, her face serious—though that seriousness quickly faded as a faint blush took its place. "S-So… could we exchange contact information? My father would like to give you a proper thank-you."

"Also, today's bill is on us."

"Well, I won't argue with that." Hayashizaki smiled and exchanged phone numbers and email addresses with Yukino.

Haruno immediately pulled a sour face and said in a flat tone, "So… can we order now?"

At the same time, she scooted over slightly, making room beside her for Hayashizaki.

No way am I letting you sit next to Yukino-chan on just your second meeting.

Luckily, Hayashizaki wasn't shameless enough to do that and sat down next to Haruno instead.

However, she failed to realize something—while it was only their second meeting from Yukino's perspective, Haruno and Hayashizaki had already interacted plenty.

But Yukino, filled with a strange sense of excitement and warmth, didn't notice this small detail. She simply stared at the young man's handsome face, feeling an odd sense of familiarity.

It didn't feel like they had only met twice.

It felt like they had known each other for a long, long time.
