Chapter 115: Chapter 115
"My question is finished, do you have any questions you'd like to ask?"
Akemi started asking Lin Yi questions.
Lin Yi thought for a moment and said, "Miss Akemi, I want to know when we start acting?"
"Before the action begins, I will give you enough time to prepare," Akemi replied.
He asked again, "How many people are we in total? How many of us are there now?"
"It's estimated that there will be three. There are many people who urgently need money, but those who meet the requirements I have in mind are few. For now, it's just you and me," Akemi said.
Lin Yi said, "Would you mind if I bring someone else?"
"Oh?" Akemi looked slightly surprised. She had already searched for several people, but all had been rejected due to issues with skills or trust.
She didn't expect that Lin Yi already had someone, so she asked, "Is this someone you can trust?"
Lin Yi nodded: "You can trust him, though he has quite a large build, mostly from his muscles. His features are too obvious."
"That's not a problem," Akemi smiled and waved her hand, saying, "Tokyo has more than 40 million inhabitants, and there are countless people with large bodies. As long as he is someone you can trust…"
"...it's fine."
In this kind of clandestine activity, skill is secondary; the most important thing is trust.
After all, no one wants to do something illegal or criminal and then be stabbed in the back at the most crucial moment.
If you're lucky, you'll be sold out, turned into a scapegoat, and spend over ten years in prison; if you're unlucky, you'll be killed on the spot and lose your life.
Why did Akemi immediately accept the "interview" when she heard Yoshino's boyfriend wanted to make money quickly?
Because people introduced by trusted friends are more reliable. Even if something goes wrong, you can always blame the intermediary.
This is much easier than judging if someone is trustworthy on your own.
"Then I'll make a call right now to see if he has time to talk for a bit."
Lin Yi said, taking out his phone and dialing Wakamatsu's number.
At first, Lin Yi thought of using him as backup, but he didn't expect that he wouldn't be his teammate but would end up becoming an accomplice.
Who told him to call him "boss"? Taking advantage of others always has consequences.
Of course, this wasn't the main reason.
The main reason was that Lin Yi didn't want more strangers joining the team.
Robbing a bank is extremely dangerous, especially in the two stages: the robbery itself and the subsequent division of the spoils.
Problems often arise in these two moments.
Since it would be a small team of three, Lin Yi decided to include Wakamatsu, as it's easier to communicate with your own people, and also easier to give them orders.
In the anime, in the small team of three that Akemi forms on the fly, one of the members takes the money and runs, leading Akemi and another robber to hire a detective to find him, which involves Conan and others.
Lin Yi dialed Wakamatsu's number, and quickly, the call was answered.
Lin Yi said: "Wakamatsu, do you have time to meet now? Yes? Good... mmm... I remember there's a boxing gym nearby, when I get there, I'll send you the address, leave from there."
After hanging up the phone, Lin Yi told Akemi, "It's done."
"Why do you want to meet at a boxing gym?" Akemi asked, a bit curious.
Lin Yi smiled and replied, "First, I want to see if he knows how to fight; and second, to see if I know how to fight."
The way he said it made Akemi laugh. She said, "I see… alright, I'll go watch too."
Akemi took out her phone, and just as she was about to call Yoshino, she paused for a moment and asked, "Does Kazaka know him too?"
Lin Yi nodded: "Yes, they've met."
"Then let's go together," said Akemi, dialing the number.
Yoshino was nearby, and as soon as the phone rang, she opened the door.
She looked at Akemi with an expectant expression, while Akemi responded with a forced smile.
Yoshino, somewhat annoyed, approached.
Lin Yi stood up and said, "Let's go, to the nearby boxing gym."
Yoshino, who hadn't been able to stop Lin Yi from doing something wrong, wasn't in a good mood. She said, a bit irritated, "Aren't we going to stay? I just arrived and now we're leaving? I'm tired."
Lin Yi looked at her and, without thinking much, lifted her in his arms, saying, "Then I'll carry you."
Yoshino was surprised, realizing that there were acquaintances nearby, and felt uncomfortable. Embarrassed, she gave Lin Yi a gentle slap and said, "Put me down, I'll walk by myself."
"Didn't you say you were tired?" Lin Yi insisted, purposely keeping her in his arms.
"Well, it's not that far... there's no need."
"I remember it's quite far… at least half an hour walking."
Yoshino saw Akemi covering her mouth and smiling. Her face turned red, and she quickly said, "I'm not tired, I'm not tired, I'll go alone!"
Finally, Lin Yi let her down.
She had always presented herself as bold and daring in front of Akemi, like one of those girls "who fear nothing and if they don't like something, they confront it."
But now, being seen this way, with her softer side, she was so embarrassed that she wanted to hide in a hole.
Yoshino didn't dare to look at Akemi and hid behind Lin Yi.
Akemi enjoyed the scene and said with envy, "Come on, let's go."
Wakamatsu arrived at the Miho boxing gym, introduced himself to the staff as Lin Yi, and was led to one of the rings.
Lin Yi was leaning on the ropes, looking at him and waving his hand.
"What did you call me here for?" Wakamatsu, confused, opened the ropes and climbed into the ring.
"I just want to see if you know how to fight," Lin Yi responded, tossing him a pair of gloves and a protector. "Have you trained?"
"A little," Wakamatsu said while putting on the protector, and then asked, "And you?"
"I haven't," Lin Yi said, putting on the gloves to avoid hurting him.
"You're not wearing a protector," Wakamatsu pointed out.
"I don't need it," Lin Yi replied.
"Is it to show off?" Wakamatsu looked at the two girls by the ring, one of whom he knew, having eaten with Lin Yi before, and the other he hadn't seen. Thinking about how Lin Yi treated the girls, Wakamatsu figured that probably one of them was his lover, which made him feel a little jealous.
"Something like that," Lin Yi smiled and bumped his gloves.
"Then you'd better be careful, I'm going to hit you until your nose bleeds," Wakamatsu said, smiling maliciously.
As soon as he finished laughing, a glove hit him in the face.
