Traveler Beyond Blind Eternity

Chapter 1: Chapter 1

I look at the man in front of me and say.

"Are you serious? Like really serious?"

"Yes. You are the winner among the countless people in this entire omniverse. You will be the first Planeswalker. A Pre-Mending Planeswalker at that, and your status as Pre-Mending Planeswalker will not disappear when you visit another world that has already experienced the Mending Event."

I look at him for another second before saying.

"Why?"

"Because we need to expel all the excess energy this reality produces. We need someone to take all the energy away. You are the name that is coming out in the raffle, Richard."

I release a sigh and say.

"Right. I am the lucky person. Yay. However, what do I need to do with this power?"

"Whatever you want. It is your power now. However, we do have one request. We want you not to destroy the universe, okay? You are the first of your kind in this reality. That means you have time to grow and control your power. Do experiments or something, but make sure you do not destroy this universe. It will take you a long time to repair or recreate it."

I don't know how to respond to that. I know that a Planeswalker can potentially create an entire universe. However, hearing it directly is something else.

"Anyway, that power is yours now. Ah, before I send you away. I need to tell you that there are companies in the blind eternities who want to make planeswalkers like you to be their patrons. It is not a bad thing, but you will be tied to them, and they have a lot of enemies. My advice? Don't be their patron; only support them as a neutral party."

"Are they bad?"

"Not really. They follow the rules, but sometimes, they get annoying. In some cases, they are the necessary evil and the only reason we don't destroy them outright."

I nod and say.

"Watch out for them. Don't join them, but do trade with them."

"Now you get it. Now, off you go."

The next thing I know, I return to my body in the camp on top of Mount Rinjani. No. That was not a dream because I could feel my body and soul change. Hell. I can even feel the mana in the air.

What do you know? You are camping alone on a mountain, and suddenly, you get power because of random chance.

I am now a Planeswalker. Pre-Mending one at that. I can feel the power inside of me pulsating in power, ready for me to use. Not only that, but I can also feel the mana around me, eager for me to absorb and use. They are two different mana.

The mana inside of me feels like the void, the blind eternities. The mana around me, on the other hand, feels like the world itself. I take a deep breath and use my power to tap the land. I let my power connect to the land and feel the mana enter me.

I feel the land in a way I never have before. The molten veins beneath Mount Rinjani pulse like the lifeblood of a slumbering giant, radiating an ancient, smoldering power. The rainforest around me whispers with life, its roots sinking deep into the mountain. The lake cradled in the crater shimmers in my mind, an endless well of patience and depth. Even the caverns around me murmur secrets of the dark, unseen history shifting beneath the ground.

And all of it—every ounce of power—races into me.

The energy is too much.

It burns like fire in my veins. My chest heaves, my body shudders. The air crackles around me as the sheer force of mana I've absorbed threatens to burst outward, uncontrolled. My soul absorbs them as fast as it can, but even with a newly awakened power, I don't have control to absorb all of the mana safely.

I clench my fists. My vision blurs. My heart pounds like a war drum.

I know this place will be gone if I lose control and let this power surge freely. The mountain, the lake, the forests—I can't let them be destroyed because of my carelessness.

No.

I grit my teeth, forcing my will to lock down the mana inside me.

The mana twists, screaming for release, but I push back. Compress it. Contain it. Every fiber of my will strains against the pressure, like holding back a flood with bare hands.

A wave of force ripples outward—but I redirect it inward.

Instead of an explosion, the energy folds around me, wrapping me in an unseen cocoon. The violent tremors in the earth cease. The howling winds settle. The mana no longer threatens to lash out—it bends to my will.

And just like that, it's mine to command.

I collapse to my knees, gasping for breath, sweat dripping from my brow. My limbs tremble, but my surroundings remain untouched. The mountain stands undisturbed. The land is safe.

"Holy shit. That was intense."

I pant and lay on my sleeping bed. That was intense. One wrong move, and I know at least half of the mountain will be gone. After a few minutes, I take a deep breath and get up. The mana in my body still hums, but it is now controllable. My soul already fully controls it. Now, it's time to test something greater.

I need to see if I can Planeswalk.

The thought alone sends a thrill through me. The power to move between worlds—to step beyond reality's boundaries—is overwhelming. But I have to know if I can do it.

For now, I'll keep it simple. No foreign realms, no unknown planes. Just Earth—my home.

My destination is clear: my apartment in Jakarta. I picture it in my mind, every detail I can recall—the small living room, the bookshelves overflowing with books of my destination and legend of that place, the faint scent of coffee that never quite fades.

I reach inward, searching for that spark that is deep within me. It's there, deep inside me, waiting to be called upon. I push, willing that power to move—to pull me with it.

And then—the world bends.

A force tugs at my very being as if reality itself is unraveling around me. The ground vanishes beneath my feet, space twists, and colors blur into one another in a swirling cascade of red, green, blue—everything at once and nothing at all. The Blind Eternities flash before my eyes for a second.

For a heartbeat, I feel weightless.

Then—impact.

I stumble forward, my knees nearly buckling as I land on solid ground. The air is different—the smell—familiar. The faint hum of city traffic buzzes in the background. I open my eyes and see that I am in my apartment.

I'm here.

The bookshelves, the coffee table, the half-open window letting in the warm Jakarta air—it's all exactly as I left it.

I did it.

A shaky breath escapes me. I actually moved across the world in an instant. I managed to use the basic power of Planeswalk. But before I can celebrate, a wave of exhaustion slams into me. My legs give out, and I drop onto my couch, gasping for breath.

The process took something out of me—not mana, not like spellcasting, but something deeper. It is like my body wasn't fully used to the experience yet.

I close my eyes, resting my head against the cushions.

I will rest for now. Tomorrow, I shall do more experiments. For now, I sleep.
