Chapter 4: Chapter IV : Finding the Key
[ Fire from Rosera Theater ]
I blinked in surprise, the blank page suddenly appeared some words there.
From what I concluded, the Rosera Theater, one of the most famous theaters in Region IV was destined to burn down in one night due to the negligence of a staff member and killing 54 people.
Does that mean I have to ensure that these 54 people and staff die in flames according to the time and plot of this book? Is this for real?
Zenius stopped walking, we arrived at one end of the library hallway, I look at him who out of nowhere brandishing a silver key which immediately created a bluish portal that took me here.
Doors between dimensions, huh?
Zenius glanced at me sharply as if to make sure that I didn't look like someone who would be a burden in the future. I smiled, "please teach me in the future, Mr. von Deatje."
He snorted and stepped in first.
I followed him, different from before where I was carried facing backwards, this time I could see clearly and found that the path in this portal was quite unique, covered in blue and had a mint scent? interesting..
It didn't take long for me to see the end of the portal.
We got out and it closed quickly. I turned around, we were in a small alley and as soon as I followed Zenius out of the alley i couldn't lower my amazed gaze.
This world is different from the earth where i live.
It looks artistic and not modern, like my world during the Victorian era. I saw a lot of people walking around wearing royal era clothes or is that the setting of this world?
Zenius stopped and looked at me from top to bottom, "you have to change your clothes," i also looked at my clothes, well... this is a black suit that looks too modern for this era, it looks like it will attract a lot of attention seeing that there are several eyes that have made me as their new topic .
"You have a solution?" i asked while rubbing the bend of my neck.
Zenius pointed randomly but precisely, I stared at a shop with a 'men's clothing to heaven' sign. What a strange name is that? I guessed the owner was as strange as his name and my guess was right because a fat man wearing a top hat who was twice his own height greeted us.
He smiled broadly. "What clothes do you want to wear to heaven?"
"Whatever suits him," Zenius said nonchalantly, he threw a gold coin which the fat man caught perfectly.
"Ho ho ho."
He looked at me and inviting me to follow him, I looked at Zenius who is standing and not showing any expression, how could Orchid cooperate with that man? Can I also build chemistry with him?
"How about this, sir?" I turned my attention back to the man who already pointing at a mannequin which wearing a set of clothes. "Region IV only has summer so to be honest a long coat isn't suitable but I never see you around so you have to be a noble from other continent, you can buy a long coat to handle the other region's weather."
A white shirt, black trousers, and a black long coat with two large pockets at the front.
"And you don't seem to like the idea of a bag too," he glanced at the book i'm holding, the man's eyes were quite sharp.
The pockets on the long coat will make it easier for me to carry a book without having to bother carrying other things on my back. Also... the color of the long coat is the same as Zenius, it's quite cool if partners have the same color, I nod. "Yeah, I'll take that."
After wearing it, I feel so different, I looked back at my reflection in the changing room mirror, he didn't look like a weak-hearted man from another earth.
I opened the door and put my old folded clothes on the counter, "wrap these up, please."
The fat man nodded and immediately did my request. I looked at the black top hat with a surprised look, the man could look up proudly as if the weight of the hat on his head was just dust.
I looked at Zenius, "what do you think?"
He raised the corners of his lips, I didn't expect that man to smile a little even tho it looked dismissive, "not bad."
I chuckled, "thank you, I'm waiting for your return, sir."
I nodded and took the expensive paper package containing the folds of my old clothes and I put it in my right pocket, then we left the shop.
"The Rosera Theater is at the end of the street," I turned and could see the roof of the tallest building on this street. "What did it say about this incident?" he asked about the book.
I grabbed it from my left pocket and opened it, "in an hour it will happen," he nodded, in one fell swoop a black book was in his right hand.
Zenius flipped through the pages of the book, "we have to make sure Kurth Holand is in position." Looks like that's the name of the perpetrator that Keeper mentioned. I nod.
I stared at the details of every statue that I passed, we had entered the theater and the book was not exaggerating saying this was one of the most beautiful theaters on the continent, it was quite a shame that this theater would burn down in the next hour.
Zenius looked at me with a sharp glance as if giving a signal to wait as he entered a small door next to the stage, which seemed to be the theater workers' room.
Rows of red chairs took up half of the theater hall, I'm the only person in here now, remembering the show was about to start when that Kurth messed everything up. "Change of plan," I see Zenius came out with an annoyed face.
"Someone messed up the story, we have to find Kurth before the story starts, there can be no mistakes in fate," I looked at him who walked past me, his aura changed, no longer calm like before.
He was really annoyed.
I followed him and walked beside him, "can spirits do anything here?" I asked, Zenius glanced at me, he understood what i meant.
Zenius entered the back door of the theater which was normal to know that no one could enter casually other than the workers, but the man entered without permission and came out with an information.
"We are spirits, but in this world every spirit has a title," I looked at him, even tho he was annoyed apparently he still answer nicely. "What kind of title?" I asked again.
"I'm the Earl of Weiner, that's a title directly from the Emperor," I gaped, meaning that.. is it the same earl that seems to exist in history that I know? One of the noble titles that has power and money? This man?
Then am I also... "The Emperor doesn't know that Orchid is gone, you're not a noble yet," he said again as if he knew what I was thinking. I nodded slowly, hearing him say "not yet" made my chest flutter, I will become a noble in this world?
He stared at me for a long time then said, "look for information about Kurth in the Keeper, where he lives, what street he always takes when going to work, and every detail of his habits."
