Trillionaire's Slice of Life

Chapter 448 The Girl's Thoughts

Li Tingting thought her first half of life had gone quite smoothly. Although three years of hard work had taken up a lot of her time and energy, the results eventually paid off. She felt she was a contributor to her own success, was favored by the school's leadership, and considered herself a winner in life.

Li Tingting's family background was good, her father was a corporate executive, and her mother a university professor. She received a strict and formal education from an early age, attending countless extracurricular classes.

Fortunately, unlike those kids who were pushed by their parents and ended up achieving nothing, Li Tingting's family education was very successful. Since kindergarten, she strove to be first in everything, even wanting to sit in the front row on the bus. Whether it was small school tests or competitions of any kind, she always came out on top.

For Li Tingting, anything less than first place was an abnormal performance.

Li Tingting wasn't just a bookworm, in fact, she had many other hobbies like dancing. Since elementary school, she participated in all class activities, often as the class belle, and her moving dances won the hearts of countless male classmates.

Talented and attractive, with a gentle and quiet demeanor, it's not hard to imagine how many young boys adored and confessed their feelings to Li Tingting, the princess of their school days.

For the first twenty-five years of her life, Li Tingting could say that everything was smooth sailing. She followed her parents' plans, studied hard from a young age, so naturally, she was recommended to Fudan University, the best in the metropolis. She graduated with ease, and even the only graduate slot from Dean Lu fell on her head.

If nothing went wrong, she might have chosen to continue her education and, after getting her doctorate, the world would be her oyster.

Of course, speaking strictly, in the three years since her graduation, Li Tingting had spent most of her time researching in school. She didn't have grand goals or lofty aspirations and didn't ask much from life. Despite her family's privileged status, she never compared herself with others. The most expensive thing she owned was an RMB 18,800 bracelet, an 18th birthday gift from her parents.

Now, however, that bracelet was no longer the most valuable thing on Li Tingting.

For the past six months, wherever she went, Li Tingting carried a fountain pen in her shirt pocket. It was a top-quality pen made of pure gold, priced at RMB 190,000, more than ten times the value of her bracelet.

Li Tingting loved that fountain pen. She carried it not to show off but for the convenience of taking various notes. As a graduate student, she had so much knowledge to acquire, so the use of that golden pen was indeed frequent.

Li Tingting had high expectations for her other half. Perhaps because she had never lacked suitors, and after being pursued so many times, she found it hard to feel attraction or resonance when she looked at those boys. During her school days, even the school's most popular guys who took the initiative to woo her were rejected.

However, now, three years after graduating, seeing that many of her peers were already in pairs, and even many college friends were married with children, despite her indifference, she felt a stirring at the bottom of her heart.

Originally, Li Tingting thought there weren't any boys around her that could make her heart flutter, but now, when she saw the young man with gold glasses of similar age beside her, she realized for the first time that there were people in the world who exceeded her in excellence by so much.

At that moment, Li Tingting sat quietly next to this young man, watching him transfer RMB 500,000 to his buddy's boyfriend with his phone, with a calm expression, then start another gamble of two million. Her heart, normally at peace, began to beat unusually.

Though born into an elite family, where she never lacked for anything—having access to millions if necessary—Li Tingting herself had never handled an amount over ten thousand.

Her father had once said she wasn't cut out for entrepreneurship and that her path was to be a high-flying executive in a firm or a research scientist. Li Tingting agreed with her father's opinion. She didn't demand much for herself, but for her significant other, her standards were not low.

At a minimum, he should not be inferior to her father. Between love and material comfort, she wanted both.

The young man next to her seemed to be one of the rare few who met her standards for a partner.

The two-million gamble continued, and Li Tingting's gaze subconsciously shifted to the man beside her. She noticed that despite losing tens of thousands, there was not a hint of sorrow or tension on his face. Instead, his eyes carried a faint hue of composure and confidence.

When Li Tingting turned her attention to the young man opposite her, the formidable opponent's boyfriend, a tall and thin man who had won tens of thousands, his face was filled with gravity. The whole person appeared extremely solemn, even his glance carried a hint of panic.

If someone unaware looked on, they would think he was the one who had lost tens of thousands.

When Li Tingting focused on the boyfriends of the other two girlfriends, she found that although the pair had long quit the card game, they still watched with eyes wide open, shock and amazement filling their gazes.
