Trillionaire's Slice of Life

Chapter 571: The Transformation of the Chess Pieces and the Chess Game

Luo Hao from across the table still wanted to try again, as having Chu Mo as his son-in-law would not only resolve his daughter's marriage issues, but might even elevate the Luo family further, possibly freeing them entirely from the control of the eight great families.

Of course, perhaps other issues could be handled easily, but matters of the heart were the most complex, something even Luo Hao, as the Family Head, was powerless to influence, otherwise Luo Wan'er wouldn't be such a headache for him.

Facing the middle-aged man's frustrations, Chu Mo remained calm. Although his interaction with Luo Wan'er had been brief, Chu Mo understood that they were from completely different worlds and could never be together.

Even if they got together for various reasons, it was likely that they would eventually break up due to incompatible personalities.

Therefore, from the beginning, Luo Wan'er had made her rejection clear. Her continuous refusal of Chu Mo's invitations and reluctance to join the Longevity Club were based on these considerations.

"Mr. Luo, Miss Wan'er is a person of deep feelings. Perhaps letting her travel and see more might allow her to meet someone with similar ideals. I've heard that Miss Wan'er rarely leaves the Sky Garden and spends most of her time here. I think, letting Miss Wan'er leave this place might just be the start of a beautiful story."

Luo Hao across the table frowned slightly. Although he didn't hold much hope, he understood that it was unlikely for Chu Mo and Wan'er to be together. In this situation, if Wan'er was willing to see more people and meet more talented youths, perhaps the outcome would be different.

For Luo Hao, his intervention in his daughter's choice of spouse wasn't stringent anymore; he just wanted his daughter to be happy. Whether the person she chose was poor or wealthy, the assets of the Luo family could ensure the young couple a life without worries.

Chu Mo and Luo Hao clinked glasses, and then Chu Mo slowly began to speak:

"Since Miss Wan'er has refused to join our Longevity Club, I mentioned providing some form of compensation. Mr. Luo, what do you think of this proposal? The Sky Garden will belong to me, and I will provide Miss Luo with four billion as a dowry. This extra billion can be considered a token of my apology, especially since the Sky Garden is Miss Wan'er's boudoir."

The Sky Garden was originally purchased by Luo Hao for nine billion from a declining family. To please Luo Wan'er, Luo had over the years, hired numerous world-class designers to renovate it. Now, the Sky Garden had become a unique landmark in Capital City, valued at a staggering thirty billion.

Normally, with Luo Hao's assets, not to mention thirty or forty billion, no amount of money would usually compel him to sell the Sky Garden, as it was already his daughter's private space. The Luo family didn't lack money, so if it were anyone else, Luo Hao would absolutely not have sold the place.

However, it was Chu Mo speaking, and he intended to build the third branch of the Longevity Club in Capital City.

Both the favor of Chu Mo and the prestige of the Longevity Club were not easily refused. After much deliberation and gaining Luo Wan'er's consent, he was finally willing to agree to this.

While forty billion wasn't a small amount, with Luo Hao's five hundred billion in assets, this sum wasn't enough to cause much fuss. He simply nodded slightly and agreed to Chu Mo's proposal.

Luo Hao knew that there hadn't been any sparks between Chu Mo and Luo Wan'er, and although it was somewhat regrettable, he had anticipated this, so he couldn't be said to be overly disappointed. With a shift in the conversation, he and Chu Mo then started discussing the matter of suppressing Heidi Cosmetics Group.

Before coming here, Chu Mo had just returned from securing a significant concession from Yang Tianxia to attain the Longevity Pill, part of which involved forcing Heidi Group into total submission.

Xue Ling, President of Heidi Cosmetics, might now be on a plane to Magi City, ready to personally apologize to Lu Siyue, the Chairman of April Cosmetics.

Chu Mo hadn't planned on talking about this matter, but since Luo Hao brought it up and to coordinate their efforts against the Heidi Group, the Luo family had specifically restrained the Yang family's actions, becoming his ally. Thinking for a moment, Chu Mo didn't hide it and casually mentioned that things with the Heidi Group had been settled.

Just as Luo Hao was curiously watching, the big door suddenly opened, and then, a young, handsome man dressed in exaggerated jeans walked briskly towards them.

Chu Mo was turned away from the door, so he didn't see the newcomer right away. It was Luo Hao, however, who noticed something amiss and casually remarked:

"Liu Wei? How come you'd come here on your own?"

Hearing this, the corners of Chu Mo's mouth slightly curled. Turning around, he indeed saw Liu Wei approaching them.

At that moment, Liu Wei seemed to have undergone a rebirth. Gone was his usual unruliness; instead, he appeared much steadier as he moved towards them. When he reached the two men, he spoke earnestly:

"Hello Uncle Luo, Chu, I've come now that the competition is over."

Luo Hao, with a knowing smile, glanced at Chu Mo. Clearly, he could see Liu Wei's respect for Chu Mo; it was obvious that Liu Wei's presence here was influenced by Chu Mo.
