[TS] Surviving in a Yuri Visual Novel

Chapter 29

The next morning.

With a hazy mind, I woke up, rubbing my throbbing head and tingling thighs while grimacing. My head felt like it was being crushed, as if I had drunk harsh liquor the night before, and I let out a low groan while resting my hand on my head.

“Ugh… where is this?”

“Are you awake?”

Startled by the soft voice that suddenly reached my ears, I trembled slightly, turning my creaky neck like a poorly oiled doll to look in the direction the voice was coming from.

There stood Leticia, resting her chin on the desk, looking at me with a languid expression.

“…Leticia?”

“Yep. Charlotte. You woke up early, huh? You must have been tired last night, so you can sleep a bit more if you want.”

Blinking several times at Leticia’s answer, I tilted my head, pondering what she had said. Then, recalling the events of last night, I felt my ears flush slightly.

I was out of my mind.

What in the world did I think I was doing yesterday?

– Huhu… Haaaah♡

Ahhh! Erase it, I need to erase it! I must wipe it from my mind. I remembered my face, gasping and smiling foolishly, lost in ecstasy like a drugged person, and shook my head vigorously in denial.

No way, I can’t be like that. No way at all. As I muttered to myself with a serious expression, Leticia, who had let out a small laugh, leaned back against the desk and spoke with a teasing tone.

“Hmm. When your gender changes, does your personality usually change too? Well, maybe not. You had some cute sides even when you were a guy, so maybe not much has changed.”

“Shut up…! I was more sharp and fierce than cute when I was a guy, you know?”

“Your impression is still quite fierce. Overall, you have no resemblance in appearance, but your personality is just like Damien Redius. It seems there really hasn’t been any change in that regard.”

“Huh. Now you’re bold enough to say that to Damien Redius himself. Besides, I’m not Damien right now; I’m Charlotte.”

Crossing my arms and pouting, Leticia’s previously cheerful expression suddenly turned cold as she asked back.

“What?”

“……Nothing.”

I turned my head away, denying it. Continuing to talk would only hurt me. It wasn’t because I was intimidated by Leticia’s gaze. Absolutely not.

“More importantly, what are we going to do today? Do you have any plans?”

“Hmm. Not really. If I have to choose, how about a love-filled date with me?♡”

“The great sage of the hero party has nothing to do? Even going on a date with a lowly vampire?”

“Oh, of course. I always think of you, Charlotte, as my number one priority.”

Should we really go on a date? Leticia answered with a smile.

“Then show me the imperial capital.”

“The capital? It might not be that interesting.”

“There should be some changes since I was gone for a while. At least it should be more fun than during the time we were at war with the Mazoku.”

They reportedly almost restored the capital. I added.

The empire suffered a lot from the war with the Mazoku. Especially in the final battle with the Demon King, the capital suffered greatly, to the point where the nobles argued with the Emperor about moving the capital to another location.

The Emperor even seriously considered moving the capital elsewhere.

Just thinking about that time still gives me a headache. The period when orphans filled the streets, losing their parents, and beggars overflowed to the extent that it was hard to tell if this was the capital or just a back alley of the neighborhood was truly the empire’s dark age.

In fact, there were more than a few noble families that were wiped out during that time.

Recalling that era, I sometimes think how fortunate it is that we are now living peacefully after signing a peace agreement with the Mazoku.

‘Though the Mazoku suffered tremendous losses as well.’

Thinking back to the time Leo and I stormed the capital of the Mazoku and wreaked havoc, I grimaced. They started it; even if the capital was half-demolished because of the chaos we caused, it was their own fault.

In remembering how fierce the war was, I was pulled out of my thoughts by Leticia.

“Indeed, compared to the past, most of the streets and districts have been beautifully restored, so there are a lot of things to see. The hero’s home country or whatever. These days, tourists from other countries come here, and the streets are quite lively.”

“Oh. So Leticia, you’ll be giving me a tour of the capital….”

“But today isn’t possible. Even though I’d love to enjoy a date with you, I won’t have time.”

Unfortunately, today is the day the academy, which has been closed for a while, reopens, so I’ll be busy all day. Leticia added with a low smile.

I blinked in surprise.

“The academy?”

“I told you at the beginning. This place is underneath the academy, so to speak, it’s my private research lab.”

That’s how she could perform summoning rituals, akin to those seen in tales about the Mazoku. Leticia’s words reminded me of the scene I witnessed when I was first summoned, and I grimaced.

That was indeed shocking. I never imagined Leticia could perform a summoning like that. It meant her affection and obsession with Damien Redius were genuine, so I gazed at her with a complex expression.

What thoughts did you have while searching for me during that time? Were you desperate enough to seek out the god of the Mazoku, who only appears in legends? If I hadn’t been summoned again as a game character, you might never have found me. Yet, until you reached Earth, a completely different dimension from here, didn’t you persevere until then?

I gazed at Leticia with a complex expression.

Even if Leticia were to succeed in summoning a demon, had she summoned the man in the memories of Charlotte Cyclamen, the story would be different. It would have been fortunate if he didn’t kill her for daring to wish for something.

‘If the summoned demon weren’t that man but Lucifer, it would be different.’

She is currently sealed in the rift between dimensions, so she wouldn’t have been summoned like I was.

At the very least, I believed Lucifer, even if summoned to Leticia, would choose to listen to her rather than immediately opt to kill her, giving advice or warnings without doubt.

Feeling a complex emotion toward a being representing an entire race because of that brief encounter made me chuckle.

She certainly exuded a motherly aura. The nickname of the goddess Lucifer being the mother of the Mazoku wasn’t arbitrarily chosen.

If Lucifer heard this, she would have boasted about how young she still was. Leticia looked at me as if I were a strange person, but I wore a nonchalant smile.

I doubt the Mazoku realize that their god is sealed away between dimensions due to the desires of another ugly god. Of course, I had no duty to inform the Mazoku about that.

I feel sorry for Lucifer, but if she is their goddess, they should find her themselves.

How annoying.

As I finished my thoughts, I smiled brightly at Leticia, who was staring at me with a blank expression. I wasn’t thinking about anything. I conveyed it with my eyes, and Leticia, looking incredulous, spoke.

“What are you thinking so hard about that you’re trying to gloss over it with a silly smile? Our Charlotte, I can hear that little head of yours turning.”

“Oh no, you caught me?”

“Since your identity is out, your audacity has increased too. Let me remind you; I am the master in our contract.”

“There’s no way that’s true between us! If you think about it, I am the master, and you are the subordinate!”

“Oh my, Leticia doesn’t need my blood, it seems. Changing the terms of our relationship on your own, huh?”

Ugh.

“Are you really going to be like that?”

“You should’ve been born a human instead of a vampire if you didn’t like it.”

“Well, at least half of me is human.”

Puhaha. As we laughed together, enjoying trivial banter in a relaxed atmosphere, we burst into laughter simultaneously.

Ah, I’m laughing a lot today.

I feel like the muscles at the corner of my mouth are about to spasm.

“So you’re not going to work? You said your schedule is busy today and you can’t even go on a date. Or can the sage of the hero party take a day off? It’s true the dean practically begged me to let you work as a professor here at our academy.”

“…If you keep teasing me, you’ll have to be prepared for tonight.”

With such words, you should be scared to tease. In the past, I could sneak in jibes and Leticia would lightly respond with a laugh, but now that the gap in our powers is so vast, I can’t even do that anymore.

If I tease her any further, I don’t think I’ll be able to sleep well tonight, so I hastily changed the subject.

“I’m just kidding, just kidding. The sun seems to be high in the sky; I was just curious why you aren’t at work.”

“The morning classes have ended. There are only two classes left in the afternoon.”

“I see.”

I nodded. I hadn’t attended the academy, so I didn’t know how the system worked, but I learned from Leticia.

Is it similar to the university system on Earth?

“And in the afternoon classes, I’m planning to take you and introduce you to the kids.”

“…Huh?”

“I’ve already told the dean, so it’s okay. She’s been dying to meet my famous pupil from the heavens who is now my assistant.”

“……What? I… so you want me to follow you as your assistant…?”

To the academy?

“Yeah.”

Leticia’s answer was short and simple.

“I’m technically a wizard, but I also handle martial arts classes. You just have to help me with that.”

What do you think? Isn’t it easy?

The more Leticia continued with her bright smile, the more my expression soured.

…Why is a wizard also teaching martial arts?
