[TS] Surviving in a Yuri Visual Novel

Chapter 31

“Sister. Have you really gone crazy because you can’t forget Master?”

“…Huh?”

“…What?”

“Master is a man, not a woman. That person looks like a woman no matter how you see it. Besides, their physique and name are completely different. What do you mean by that?”

Charlotte and Leticia wore dumbfounded expressions at Charles’ nonchalant response. Especially Charlotte’s expression was quite a sight. She stared at Charles with wide eyes and her mouth agape.

‘Ch, Charles swore!’

The last time she saw him, he couldn’t even call someone a fool or an idiot, and now he was cursing! Remembering how sharp yet innocent Charles had been in front of her, Charlotte was shocked.

‘My child swore! Right in front of me! My child has changed! No, well, he’s not really my child, but in the sense that I’ve raised him in spirit, Charles is indeed my child. I’ve taught him everything, from swordsmanship to martial arts; how can he not be my child?’

‘Ha. Did he really go through a late puberty…?’

Not aware of Charlotte’s profound thoughts, Charles stared at her coldly before turning to his sister, frowning as if he could do nothing about it, shaking his head side to side.

“I understand your feelings. I know better than anyone how much you miss Master. But there are lines people shouldn’t cross. This isn’t right.”

His sister had gone mad because she couldn’t forget her former lover. Charles accepted the situation like that.

He had seen Leticia trying various summoning spells and even forbidden ones to forget her master, Damien Redius, thinking that she was out of her mind back then, but he now knew for sure.

Sadly, his sister had gone mad.

It was strange not to recognize what a beautifully mad genius could do. Charles could not fathom how sad and tormented his sister, who had once been a lover, must be, while also missing her master Damien.

A flicker of sympathy and compassion momentarily filled Charles’ eyes as he recalled Leticia, who endlessly researched summoning magic, longing for a time they could not meet.

His sister absolutely hated receiving pity or sympathy from others.

With a sigh, Charles pulled memories from the past into his mind.

He remembered his sister who had coughed up blood.

He remembered her repeating one spell until she collapsed, showing her magic running empty.

He remembered her, without properly eating or sleeping, only conducting research whenever there were no classes.

He remembered her being unable to open her eyes for a while due to punishment for dabbling in forbidden magic.

Charles remembered all the research his sister had undertaken until now. Even someone like him, ignorant of magic, recognized how great and incredible Leticia’s efforts were.

She was a genius and a stronger magician than anyone, yet she lost her precious lover. This was a different affection from Charles’s fleeting feelings he had once harbored for Damien.

With sincere comfort, Charles spoke to his sister, who had once lived a life more intense than anyone else.

“Sister. Are you really okay? If it’s hard, you can take a break from being a professor. I can ask Father about the successor thing. Okay? Sister.”

“…Wait a moment. Uh, Charles?”

“You can take a good rest, sister. The dean and Father would say you can take a break if they know you’re struggling.”

“Charles… Charles? You’re not listening to what I’m saying, are you?”

“I am listening. I see you’ve recently fallen into some strange summoning magic research; what bizarre research are you doing? Who’s that half-dressed person?”

At Charles’ words, Leticia turned her gaze toward Charlotte. Only then did Charlotte realize she was completely unclothed, wrapping herself in the blanket and inwardly sighing.

‘Ah. Now that I think about it, I’m completely naked without any upper or lower garments. I felt a bit empty; was that because I wasn’t wearing clothes? I felt a little cold; could it be because I’m not wearing anything? What a silly worry.’

However, caught up in the moment and conversing with Leticia, Charlotte finally recognized she was exposed. Feeling she had embarrassed herself in front of her long-ago student, she slightly flushed.

Seeing this, Charles nodded to himself in understanding and resolutely stated, “It’s definitely not Master.”

‘Wait. I am your master, you know.’

Charlotte couldn’t bring herself to say that. It was better for her that he misunderstood. She had been concerned about the unnecessary bomb Leticia had dropped, but fortunately, Charles turned out to be a person with common sense.

Right. It would be normal not to recognize a master who had been a man returning as a woman. Leticia and Leo were just special.

“But since Leo also became a woman due to a curse, it’s still early to conclude.”

She had forgotten there was an unexpected complication.

Though the circumstances were different, Charlotte thought of her friend who had also transformed from a man to a woman.

And she clenched her teeth.

Damn Leo Starfield. Why was it that not one of her friends could be of any help? Charlotte smiled faintly, seemingly satisfied with Charles’s deduction. It appeared she wanted to avoid worrying about this matter any further. How unfortunate.

Ignoring her sister, Charles stepped forward confidently.

Thinking about it before, it was clear that Charles was taller than the average height for girls. When he was a boy, Charlotte was taller, but now the situation had changed. Finding herself looking up at Charles, Charlotte blinked.

Charles briefly glanced at her before launching into a straightforward question.

“You’ve been silent since earlier, and since it’s our first meeting and I don’t want to force you, I will ask straightforwardly.”

Gulp.

Tension caused her throat to tighten. Surely, he was going to ask if Damien Redius was correct while confirming the truth behind what her sister had said. What should she even say to that? She couldn’t think of an appropriate response. Leticia must have anticipated this kind of situation. She had disguised Charles as her student in order to firmly hold onto her in this world.

Leticia—who absolutely didn’t want to share Charlotte with anyone—had made a strong decision, and Charlotte realized once more that her thoughts were resolute.

And she realized that she could no longer escape. As she frantically thought of the best answer for the reality she would have to face with Charles, she suddenly gaped at her sister’s unexpected action.

Leticia mirrored Charlotte’s surprise. She widened her eyes in shock at her younger sister’s sudden move.

“W-What…?”

“I apologize. I don’t know what kind of rudeness my sister has committed, but I will apologize and make amends for it all. Even if my sister seems like this, she is the Sage of the Hero party and will become the lord of the north. Could you be generous enough to overlook this just once?”

“…Wait a moment. Charles…?”

“Could it be… that my sister committed some heinous act that you cannot forgive? Is that what this is?! Ah. I didn’t know my sister had gone so mad; it’s entirely my fault. I should have been more attentive to my sister’s madness…!”

Charles was making a significant misunderstanding. Watching Charlotte’s face from the front, she thought things would become serious if this continued and quickly turned her gaze to Leticia.

However, Leticia wasn’t in a much more helpful state either. Staring at Charles with a blank expression, her eyes trembled slightly. Unable to describe her expression, Charlotte shut her mouth, but it seemed to further fuel Charles’s misunderstanding.

Charles’s face grew pale, then turned blue, only to finally become beet red.

‘Hmm. He’s really upset.’

Even Charlotte, who hadn’t seen Charles in years, could tell that he was very angry. Charles let out a furious roar towards Leticia. It sounded much like a dragon’s roar.

“Sister! What on earth have you done?! Why is the lady undressed in bed… Huh. Sister. Please tell me you haven’t discovered a new preference…?”

Noticing the red lipstick marks lingering on Charlotte’s neck, Charles slapped his forehead. Mad. Seeing his sister’s trembling pupils, he muttered a curse. In his eyes, Leticia had turned into someone he could hardly associate with.

“Wasn’t my sister supposed to be a pure-hearted lover? You always said you would only hug Master. Did you really… hug that lady?”

Misunderstandings multiplied and ultimately elicited an even greater misunderstanding.

It was self-inflicted. Charlotte murmured. Having dropped unnecessary bombs, Leticia hurriedly explained.

“It’s not like that, Charles! It was a mutual agreement! It was absolutely not forced! Besides, she is Damien! Your master! Leo also became a woman, so why couldn’t Damien become a woman? Right?”

“I understand what you’re saying. Of course it could be a mutually agreed relationship, and Master could appear as a woman. Right. But for Master, who has returned after going back home… it’s hard to believe.”

“Charles.”

“But if it really is Master, I’ll have to brace myself, but let her say it. Is Master really, as my sister says, Master? She didn’t threaten you, did she? You can speak honestly.”

This is bad.

Charlotte accepted the situation that way. Once, she looked at Leticia, whose eyes were glaring, and then she glanced at Charles, who was smiling gently but was not wearing a smile.

Whichever she chose would lead to disaster!

Damn.
