Chapter 29: Arriving at the CDC
"Now, get ready."
As soon as Airon finished speaking, everyone applauded and expressed their agreement with Arion and his people's arrangement.
"Alright, I appreciate your trust, I can assure you that I will do my best to ensure your safety, we will be very strong in this new world and nothing will stop us."
Rick stood next to his wife, looking at this friend he had just met in depth a few days ago, who was communicating with people right now, and surprisingly they all had confident expressions on their faces.
At this moment, he suddenly realized that Airon is very suitable to be a leader, he has a much bigger vision than any of the people struggling to survive, he doesn't hide behind others and is always thinking of ideas to improve the situation everyone is in.
"Now that's fantastic, we'll grow that place and make sure it's always safe."
Shane's voice came from off to the side, Rick turned his head to look at his friend and smiled slightly.
"Yeah, we'll protect ourselves from this world."
...
Although everyone planned to leave tomorrow, Airon didn't have the same thoughts and ordered them all to get ready, then walked towards Ed's tent.
"Do you need help?" Airon asked with a friendly smile.
At that moment, Carol came out with a large suitcase and looked at Airon standing not far from her tent. "You've already done so much for us, we're so grateful that you decided to take us all in."
Airon averted his gaze into the distance and watched Ed load things onto a truck, he looked back at Carol and said, "You'll have to figure it out someday, do you want me to help you with that?"
Carol looked shocked, she didn't know how Airon could have found out about her relationship with her husband in just one night.
"It doesn't matter, I just hope that someday he will change..."
"I hope so too, his behavior seems to be very explosive, and that is something that will not be tolerated at the shelter." Airon Darcy reached into his vest and pulled out a thin knife, then handed it to Carol.
"I hope you understand, this world needs strong people and if you want to take care of your daughter, you must be a strong woman."
After saying that, Airon smiled and went to the RV truck to organize his people. She didn't want to interfere too much in the relationship with Carol and Ed, but if she didn't solve that latent problem, she would take it upon herself to do so and show them all that authority in their shelter should not be violated.
When everyone was ready to leave, Airon got into his car and the trip began.
...
"[Attention, this is a safe haven at the CDC facility in Atlanta, if you hear this message we are still taking in refugees, if any member of the military or any government department hears this message, your presence is requested to reinforce the security of this stable shelter]."
On the way, Airon heard the announcement being broadcast on the radio just as they came into range of the broadcast, he had to grow the forces in his ranks and expand his dominance.
And that would only be achieved by taking in many refugees, so the broadcast was not stopping for 24 hours a day.
"Do they have a plan going forward within the CDC?" Morgan leaned against a nod from the RV with a bit of boredom, looked at the silent Airon and asked him suddenly.
From what he had heard, the message on the radio was from the shelter they were headed to, and the road was too long to not talk about anything until then, now he just wanted to know something more about the plans in Airon's mind.
In his experience, he knew that resources would be a problem for shelter with so many people, so he was thinking about how Airon was going to solve that problem.
It was hard to imagine that in such cases control could be maintained, it took incredible authority and a lot of heavy handedness to subdue large groups full of desperation.
Airon looked at the road outside the RV window, thought about it for a moment and said, "When all this wasn't happening, in society there were many different groups pursuing a goal, some of those groups were dangerous and others didn't care who they got out of the way as long as their goals were solved."
As he said that, he took a sheet of paper out of his bag and said, "Today, can you imagine how many refugee groups like us there are in the country? It's only been a few months since the modern world of went to the trash and food is starting to become scarce, what do you think those groups will do when they meet smaller ones?"
"It doesn't matter if we are a group of five or twenty, larger groups will look to take what little we have from us. My goal is to expand our terrain, seek out refugees and prepare to create a new world within this hellhole."
After briefly talking about his plan, Airon looked at Morgan and Guillermo who were silent, "And do you think that my way of thinking is correct?"
"I do." Guillermo nodded and said, "We need to work much faster than the others, get our hands on valuable resources before they start getting scarce and prepare everyone for that world you're talking about."
Airon nodded and said, "While at the CDC they are looking for a cure, we will have to expand our forces, train those who don't know how to use a weapon and prepare for the future."
"I can only say I will help, I want to take care of my family and I will not allow any other group to come to our safe place to cause trouble." Morgan nodded as he received a clear explanation from Arion. He thought things were getting too far ahead of themselves, but he also knew that many people didn't mind doing evil to get something in return.
Airon nodded and said no more. Seeing that everyone understood his words, he was glad for the road ahead of them. He had to get it right and make no mistakes.
Along the way there were no dangers, about eight vehicles did not encounter any unforeseen events, and even if they did, there was plenty of security and everyone was prepared for the worst.
While the road was led by Airon's VR driven by George, the backside was being restored by two Humvees with machine guns.
By the time everyone arrived at the CDC, it was getting dark.
Entering the CDC territory taken excellent care of by Airon's people, everyone could see tanks parked in strategic places and some streets completely sealed with metal fences. Although this place was temporary, Airon wanted to use it until the last moment as a base to collect all the resources from the surrounding area.
Humvee with machine guns and some barricades with heavily armed soldiers, this place at first glance seemed very safe and reliable.
With Airon's presence, everyone entered without the need to explain or introduce themselves.
The garage door opened in the distance and then a few cars entered while the others parked outside the CDC.
"Airon, you're finally back!"
Some people in black uniforms walked up next to the Janners and Airon stepped forward to greet them.
"I'm glad security is still functional without my presence, we will soon grow much larger and make sure we have a strong point for the future." Airon looked at these important scientists with a smile on his face.
"There is nothing to be surprised about, it was thanks to you that this place is kept moving and safe." Edwin looked at the people getting out of the car and was surprised to see that there were more survivors.
When they all got out of the car and stood in the garage, the Janner's had been briefed on many things in the future and agreed to a shelter being set up as long as Airon kept control.
Airon turned around and indicated to everyone what was next.
"Attention, everyone here must submit to a blood test. This is a hard and fast rule of the CDC, and it is also for the safety of all of us. After entering the facility you are not to make any screams. Now, many researchers are working in the labs."
The ones next to me are the lead scientists, this is scientist Edwin Jenner and his wife Candace Janner. The two of them will be responsible for the follow-up."
After pausing, Airon looked at Rick and Shane, "Everyone proceed in order. Rick, Shane, get everyone organized so everything stays under control."
"Guillermo, once the exam is over they will be able to see your friends and family." Airon said finally.
"Thank you very much Airon, I got it." Guillermo was very excited to see all the security in this place. The elderly will definitely be safer and there is not much to worry about anymore.
