Chapter 16: Kiss
Thirty minutes had passed, and Mark was a little nervous.
He paced back and forth trying to calm his heart—even though he was very powerful now, when it came to Edythe, his emotions spun out of control.
"Hey, did I keep you waiting too long?"
When Mark heard that beautiful, gentle voice, he turned toward its direction.
When he saw Edythe, he smiled and walked toward her.
"Of course not, I just got here too," Mark said.
Edythe smiled shyly and stepped closer to him.
"You look stunning," Mark said after admiring Edythe.
She wore a long gray coat that reached her knees, a black sweater, and black leather pants that outlined every curve of her legs, paired with black high heels.
Mark knew the night would be a challenge. Edythe noticed his warm gaze and felt happy.
"Thanks. Did you pick which movie we're watching?" Edythe asked.
"I was waiting for you so we could decide together," Mark replied.
They walked to the cinema. After browsing the current screenings, they decided to watch a movie titled Love Beyond Time.
After paying for the tickets, Mark asked, "Would you like popcorn and a drink?"
Even though he knew vampires didn't need to eat, he offered—after all, she hadn't revealed that to him yet.
"Sure," Edythe answered.
After buying snacks, they headed to their seats, and the movie began.
The story followed a man who finds an old police radio in his house. After turning it on, he discovers it still works.
He tunes it to find someone to talk to and ends up meeting a woman—the two become close friends.
They fall in love, only to later discover one of them lives in the past and the other in the future.
The woman, in the future, finds out the man from the past died in an accident.
With this knowledge, she tries to save him from his fate, and they discover that their destinies were linked long before they connected through the radio.
During the movie, Mark felt a murderous gaze. He didn't need to look to know who it was.
He wondered what kind of medication Su Chen must be taking—always harboring deadly intent toward him.
At the end, Su Chen passed by and greeted him with a smile. Mark thought the guy should become an actor.
...
After the movie, Mark and Edythe decided to take a walk through a nearby park.
"I can't believe he gave his life for her to survive," Edythe said, upset.
"These movies are meant to leave you with a bitter aftertaste," Mark replied.
Who would've guessed the twist: the woman he died trying to save was the very woman he had fallen for over the radio.
Even the revelation that she had lost her memory and forgotten the accident—that the man she loved had sacrificed himself—was a heavy blow.
The scene where she regains those memories in the present, as he fights to save her in the past—playing out in parallel—was beautifully done. Mark had to admit.
"I didn't like it… I prefer happy endings," Edythe said.
Mark glanced at Edythe's annoyed little pout and found it adorable. They walked a bit longer and sat down at an empty bench.
They were silent—neither knew what to say.
Edythe looked at Mark's handsome face, made even more striking by the glow of a distant streetlamp in the dark night—and she felt lost.
Mark also looked at Edythe's beautiful face, his heart pounding fast. Without realizing it, the two began leaning toward each other.
The chilly night air brushed against their skin, carrying each other's scent to their senses.
Mark looked at her soft, rosy lips and moved closer.
Edythe stared into Mark's eyes, which were fixed on her lips—and she noticed that his brown eyes were now glowing with a beautiful shade of blue.
Just like the first time they met. Beautiful, she thought, lost in his gaze.
Then, their lips met.
Without caring about anything else, they shared a warm, passionate kiss.
Edythe closed her eyes and savored Mark's comforting heat, while Mark enjoyed the cool, refreshing taste of Edythe's lips.
He reached out, gently cupping her cheeks with care as they kissed.
Edythe responded by wrapping her arms around Mark's strong waist.
The thin veil that had separated their relationship was finally broken that night. It was the beginning of a love between them—and of many challenges the two would face in the future.

Just to be clear: I made up the name of this movie and its story — I don't know if it actually exists.
The kissing scene and the interaction between the characters I'm not sure if they turned out well — it's the first time I've written something like this.
I hope you enjoyed it. See you next time...
