Chapter 7: A Move-In Struggle
"Hee-heeeee! We're goners! Run away!" The ghost retweeted, running away from the pair as Grim blew one last fireball.
"E-eh? We...won?" He said, still shocked by the whole thing.
"Amazing!" Xinyi exclaimed, taking Grim from her shoulder and hugging him "Thank you."
Grim was slightly startled by this but ended up curling into her warmth, a bit out of breath. "Ha-hee… That was sc…" he stopped himself snapping out of it and escaping the girl's grip. "No, I wasn't scared at all! This is nothing for the Great Grim! How 'bout that, ghosts? You done?"
Xinyi only laughed a bit as she crocheted on the floor petting Grim. "Good evening. I have graciously brought you supper." a familiar voice came from the stairway. The two looked over to find the headmaster. When he saw the gray raccoon creature he was very surprised, somewhat aggravated. "You're the monster that ran amuck during the entrance ceremony! I threw you out of the school. What are you doing here!?"
Grim growled at the man stepping away from the confused girl. "Hmph! I exterminated the ghost problem! Be grateful!"
Crowley looks at him in question. "Hm? What do you mean by that?" he asked, looking at them for an explanation.
Xinyi took the lead and explained the situation to the headmaster. How the ghost had appeared and attacked them so they had to fight the dead off.
Crowley gripped his chin in thought. "Now that you mention it, some prankster ghosts were living here so students keep away from this dormitory," he mumbled. "And that's why it's now empty. I'd forgotten that. However, hmm…" he looked at Xinyi, who was currently holding grim close to her as if she were a child hugging a toy. "For you two to work together to get rid of them."
Grim glared at the man again but did not get out of the girl's grip. "I'm not gonna overlook that 'together' comment," he said looking back at Crowly. "They were just standing there watching. And I did this for a can of tuna." he then stopped, releasing what he said. "...ah! I haven't gotten that tuna yet!" the girl just smiled at him and whispered that she would give it to him later.
Crowley was cruising, now seeing the girl more calm and her being able to control the rampaging beast. "I'd like the two of you to show me how you exterminated those ghosts," he suggested.
Grim glared at him again, aggravated by what he said. "But we already got rid of all the ghosts! Before that: Give. Me. Tuna!" he demanded, pulling away from Xinyi a bit.
"I shall be the ghosts," Crowley explained, completely ignoring the raccoon. "If you beat me, I'll give you tuna cans. For I am gracious.'' He then takes a small vial from his cloak, quickly saying "Transformation Potion" before drinking the whole thing. Almost instantly he turned into one of those white globes.
"Ehhh, I don't wanna. This is a pain and I have to team up with them again…" Grim whined as he climbed onto Xinyi's shoulder, frowning at the new ghost headmaster.
The girl looked at them, not sure what to do. "This might be a chance to get into school," she whispered in his ear. "As well as another can of tuna."
Grim growled at her but jumped down ready to fight. "This is the last time! You absolutely, absolutely have to give me tuna!" With that, the pair started battling once more.
Life has many ways of testing a person's will, either by having nothing happen at all or by having everything happen all at once.
