Type-Moon: God of War

Chapter 18: Chapter 18: I Told You, I'm Too Handsome

[3rd POV]

Unlike Mount Olympus, which would later fall to the earth, it was still floating high in the sky at this time.

Below it lay the vast, endless sea, ruled by Poseidon, the god of the sea.

However, if someone climbed to the very peak of Mount Olympus and jumped off, they would fall into the endless River Styx which was ruled by Hades, the god of the underworld.

This was a special kind of space phenomenon where Olympus overlapped with other places.

It was daytime now, and the golden gates leading to the other gods' homes on Mount Olympus were open, welcoming all the gods living on Earth who didn't reside there.

Ares, the god of war, had brought Hecate with him and had become somewhat of a host, but Hecate seemed not to be very welcomed by the other gods.

As the two passed through the golden gates, they were greeted by Eos, the goddess of dawn, with rose-colored fingers tasked with guarding the gates.

She was accompanied by three young maidens who had sworn lifelong virginity.

Eos, wearing a red dress, lit up with joy when she saw Ares.

"Ares, you're finally back."

Eos said, "We've all been quite uneasy without you protecting Mount Olympus at night."

Ares looked down at her, and as she spoke, Eos unexpectedly leaned in toward him, making it like she wanted to get closer to him.

He was startled and quickly stepped back, turning his body to avoid her.

In mythology, Eos, the goddess of dawn, also had a romantic history with Ares. Like Aphrodite, she had many lovers, both mortals and gods, and she even wanted to compete with Artemis to steal Orion away.

She was a thirsty and troublesome goddess, but according to his current memories, he hadn't actually had any real relationship with her yet which gave him some relief.

"What are you talking about?"

Ares said angrily while stepping away from Eos, "Isn't Athena up on the mountain? Isn't she stronger than me? The Goddess of Victory—how impressive!"

Ares' words revealed his disapproval and disdain for Athena.

Now that he was out in a place where many eyes were watching, Ares had to maintain his "big shot" image for others to see.

"Athena, goddess of wisdom, is too busy with other matters to focus entirely on guarding Mount Olympus alone."

Eos sighed sadly, looking at Ares with a pitiful expression.

"These days, only a few weaker goddesses are still watching the gates, afraid that some monsters might take advantage of this time and disturb the great gods."

As she spoke, Eos twisted a lock of her hair, giving Ares a flirty glance.

"..."

'Auntie, please don't do this. We're both respectable beings.'

Clearly, the beautiful goddess of dawn, Eos, had long admired the handsome and powerful god of war, Ares.

However, in Ares' memories, she had always been quite reserved, at most smiling a little more brightly when he passed through the golden gates.

But this time, Eos' actions were much more forward.

He guessed it was because the arrival of the real goddess of beauty had triggered a sense of competition among these goddesses to feel a little jealous and try to act faster.

Nevertheless, Ares wasn't in the mood for any romantic involvement with these beautiful goddesses.

Just as he was about to push Eos away and leave, Ares suddenly heard his teacher, Hecate, laughing behind him.

"Ares, I didn't know you were so popular."

Hecate said with a smile.

When Eos heard the voice, she quickly turned to look behind Ares. But when she saw Hecate, who had painted her face in a way that looked like some kind of art, her expression visibly relaxed.

Eos glanced at Hecate's appearance and then secretly compared it to how she looked this morning when she saw her reflection in a pond.

A feeling of disdain grew in her heart.

'She's nothing special, no threat at all.'

However, since Hecate was a respected goddess, Eos still needed to greet her politely. "Ah, it's the honorable Goddess of Magic, Hecate. I see you've come as well."

"Mm."

Hecate nodded, then reached out and playfully patted Ares's arm, smiling slyly, "Ares was on the way, so I came with my disciple."

Eos couldn't help but notice that Ares didn't seem angry at all, even though Hecate had been so rough.

Ares just stood there quietly.

She knew this was probably because Hecate was very powerful, but she still felt a little jealous.

Eos wanted to keep trying to get Ares' attention, but Ares quickly said, "Zeus's banquet is about to begin. We shouldn't delay. It's considered a serious mistake to be late for his banquet. Eos, you should finish up soon and join us."

After saying this, Ares quickly left with Hecate, almost running away. Eos could only stomp her feet in frustration, helplessly watching Ares walk away.

There was nothing she could do. In terms of divine status and power, both Ares and Hecate were far beyond her reach.

The only way for Eos to win over Ares was to throw herself at him, but from what she could tell, Ares was not the type to fall for such tactics.

On the other side, Ares and Hecate, making their way along the pillar-lined mountain path, finally arrived at the banquet area above the clouds.

The banquet wasn't being held inside the grand palace of the king of the gods but outside in a massive floating island garden.

Hebe, the goddess of youth, had already led the team of attendants from Mount Olympus to organize the event.

The long rows of tables were filled with exquisite foods and divine wines, and many esteemed gods and goddesses moved between them, walking around between the tables and chatting with each other in small groups.

Upon arriving at the banquet, Ares turned to Hecate and complained, "See? I wasn't lying. I told you, being this too handsome causes trouble."

"Eos is just the goddess of dawn, how could she be a real trouble?"

Hecate scoffed, "You're a major god. You can just have some fun with her and then move on. She can't do anything to you."

"Don't say that. Once you get involved with someone, it's... what's the word... right, it's tangled in fate."

Ares muttered, frustrated, "I don't want to cause that much trouble right now."

As they spoke, Ares and Hecate made their way toward the banquet, drawing the attention of the gods.

Ares was noticed because of his noble status, and Hecate stood out because of her extremely strange makeup.

The guests at the banquet gave the pair a curious glance, but neither Ares nor Hecate paid much attention.

They walked into the banquet, each taking a glass of divine wine from the trays held by the attendants.

Then, they naturally went their separate ways.

Ares greeted Zeus, Hera, and the other elder gods while Hecate quietly moved to a corner of the hall by herself.

Even though she had retreated to the corner, Hecate's face made it impossible for her not to attract attention.

However, since she was the powerful goddess of magic and witchcraft, no one dared to approach her carelessly.

The gods continued their lively conversations, pretending not to notice her presence and laughing as before, and Hecate was perfectly fine with this.

At that moment, a god suddenly approached Hecatew with a glass of wine.

"Hecate."

Prometheus, the former god of wisdom, said, "Do you have a moment? I want something to talk about."
