Chapter 303: Typemoon: Starting Out as the Lion King's Personal Knight [303]
This is not a Noble Phantasm born of idealistic fantasies, but rather a grand magical ritual constructed by Alaric through his talents and the arcane knowledge he obtained from the Demon God King Goetia. Alaric once had a lively and engaging conversation with Goetia in the Temple of Time. Although he did not obtain the foundational magical knowledge from Goetia, their discussion revolved around abilities related to individual manifestation.
Of course, this allowed Alaric to acquire the principles of Ars Almadel Salomonis and a series of related concepts.
At the time, this knowledge was of little use to Alaric. Only after studying at the Clock Tower for a year and significantly deepening his understanding of magecraft did Alaric come to realize the profound implications of these principles.
Goetia had achieved sufficient energy for his plans through Burning the Human Order, creating beams of light comparable to Excalibur's Sword of Promised Victory, which then formed the universe-encompassing belt of light.
Alaric, on the other hand, created an imitation of this process. Using Little Red Riding Hood to supply magical energy, he activated a pre-set magical array to generate Aurora within the Holy Lance Rhongomyniad.
Since Alaric could not replicate Goetia's achievement of creating beams of light equivalent to Excalibur, the resulting light beams were only on the level of an anti-army Noble Phantasm ranked at C-grade.
If quality could not prevail, then sheer quantity would have to achieve absolute domination.
Although Alaric could not produce billions, millions, or even hundreds of thousands of light beams, with the vast magical energy supplied by Little Red Riding Hood, he successfully generated 666 beams of light.
Their combined power was comparable to dozens of Excalibur strikes!
This overwhelming firepower far exceeded the norm for any Holy Grail War and was enough to crush all conventional forces.
It's important to note that Alaric's strongest single attack could barely match Artoria's Excalibur, and that was only because of the magical energy supplied by Little Red Riding Hood. However, after generating the light beams, they ascended to the heavens to form the light belt.
The stabilization and loading of the light belt were inspired by Goetia's manipulation of his third Noble Phantasm and the first Noble Phantasm, which Goetia had envisioned.
After all, Alaric did not need to utilize this energy to achieve the effects of the Fifth Magic and reverse time. His only goal was destruction.
This made the process significantly simpler, and the result of all these operations was the creation of that dark light belt suspended above the heavens.
Unlike Goetia's pure white light belt, which encircled the Earth and burned away the entire history of humanity, the belt created by Alaric was uniquely his own: a black light belt, representing original sin.
The black belt of light was darker than the night sky itself, vast and profound like the cosmos. Compared to this pitch-black radiance, it made the night seem almost bright.
This sudden change occurred in just a few breaths, yet it felt as though it ended in an instant.
Anyone who witnessed the light belt rising into the heavens—whether Masters or Servants—was left in stunned silence. Although they could not determine the exact power of the light belt, there was one thing they all understood:
Extreme danger!
Among them, only Ritsuka Fujimaru and Lord El-Melloi II reacted with rapidly changing expressions upon seeing the rising light belt.
Lord El-Melloi II, having studied the records of the Temple of Time from Chaldea, naturally recognized Goetia's third Noble Phantasm.
Ritsuka Fujimaru, as a direct participant in the war that affected the entire history of humanity, faced Ars Almadel Salomonis head-on. She knew all too well how despairing it was.
"You—"
Ritsuka could feel her heart pounding, her blood racing, and her adrenaline surging in response to the intense emotions within her: confusion and anger.
Confusion as to why Alaric would do such a thing, and anger that he had chosen to do it.
The joy of their reunion evaporated in an instant, leaving only one emotion in her heart: "Sir Alaric! I will defeat you, and then you will explain everything to me!"
From the far side of the battlefield, Ritsuka Fujimaru pressed her hand against the Command Spells on her hand. Her resolute words carried an unshakable determination:
"Are you seriously still planning to fight me?"
Alaric lowered his hand, raising an eyebrow. His expression was one of surprise as he said, "Just so you know, my light belt may be a lower version, but its firepower is still dozens of times that of Excalibur.
If I were to fire this light belt, it could sink all of Fuyuki City and its surrounding areas."
Alaric had no intention of using this single shot of the light belt to fight Artoria, Iskandar, or even Gilgamesh. His sole target for the light belt's destruction was the Greater Grail beneath Ryuudou Temple.
This display of power was meant as a deterrent, but it seemed to have ignited Ritsuka Fujimaru's fighting spirit instead.
What Alaric didn't realize was that this scene had also been witnessed by Mash Kyrielight and Leonardo da Vinci through Chaldea. Both had seen the black light belt, even though Mash had been unable to participate in combat since losing Galahad.
Mash's reaction mirrored Ritsuka's: her expression changed drastically. She knew all too well the power of a light belt, even if Alaric could not replicate the full strength of Goetia's creation. The power of what Alaric had created was still not to be underestimated.
Da Vinci let out a long sigh.
What happened in Chaldea was unknown to those present on the battlefield. Facing Alaric directly, Ritsuka Fujimaru, along with Lord El-Melloi II and others, only felt an overwhelming sense of dread.
Even though Alaric had explained the light belt's power, Ritsuka's determination remained unshaken. Her resolve had only grown stronger.
The Knight King Artoria, wielding Excalibur, furrowed her brows in anger, her emerald eyes fixed on Alaric and the light belt hanging in the heavens.
As the black light belt ascended, all of Fuyuki City could see this magical ritual made manifest.
Two individuals, who understood each other all too well, knew that their confrontation was inevitable.
"It seems you're not planning to back down," Alaric said, his gaze calm as he swept his cold eyes over Ritsuka Fujimaru and Lord El-Melloi II. The Knight King Artoria and the King of Conquerors Iskandar were still stunned by the sudden appearance of the light belt and the strange turn of events.
Ritsuka Fujimaru was not even a Master in this Holy Grail War. As an outsider, what perspective was she using to interfere?
The Knight King Artoria's thoughts were interrupted by Iskandar, who had become deeply intrigued—not by the light belt or Alaric, but by the presence of Lord El-Melloi II. As the world-renowned King of Conquerors, Iskandar recognized Lord El-Melloi II's true identity with a single glance.
When that name surfaced in his mind, Iskandar ignored Alaric entirely and stared directly at Lord El-Melloi II.
With his lips curling into a smile, he met the composed yet nostalgic gaze of his former subject.
Under the surprised glance of his own Master, Waver Velvet, Iskandar spoke:
"Boy, you've grown."
"It's been a long time, my king," replied Waver, now known as Lord El-Melloi II. Smiling, he said, "It seems there was no hiding it from you."
