Chapter 28: incoming attack'
The wind was soft but salty. Mali stood near the edge of the island. He looked out to the ocean, his eyes sharp and calm. The island was bigger now. Much bigger. It was more than twenty times the size of the old Genma turtle's shell. The giant turtle, Genma, moved slowly beneath the ground. His breath made the water near the shore ripple quietly.
Mali's grandfather, Raigen, sat on a rock nearby. He wore a cloth over his eyes. "My eyes hurt more every day," Raigen said in a quiet voice. "This power is hard to carry."
Mali nodded. "I meditate every day to help your pain. If your eyes get worse, we will think about using Shisui's or Obito's eyes for you. But not now. Your own eyes still feel something. That might be good or bad."
Raigen smiled a little. "We wait. The time will come."
Nearby, Uchiha Gensei worked in the garden. He was an old man but strong. People said he had some blood from the Senju clan. He could help plants grow better. Mali walked over. "The island will grow strong," Gensei said. "Even our enemies will want it."
Mali looked serious. "We will be ready. No one will take this from us."
Inside a quiet room, Mali looked through many old scrolls. These scrolls were secret. He took them from the Hokage's office long ago. Some told of powerful jutsu like reanimation, shadow clones, and barrier seals. Mali studied every one.
Hana came in. She held a scroll in her hands. "What about this one? The sealing techniques?"
Mali looked closely. "The Five-Seal Barrier. It can protect the island from enemies and bad chakra. The Uzumaki blood in our clan helps make it strong."
Yuto was near, folding his arms. "We must practice more. These jutsu take time. No one learns fast without work."
Reina stepped in. Her Sharingan eyes shone softly. "I will teach the sealing teams. They need practice and guidance."
Mali smiled. "Good. These seals are as strong as any sword."
Outside, the fog grew thicker. Genma was using his special power. The fog hid the island. It made it hard for outsiders to see or find them. Mali and the clan worked hard to make more barriers, mixing their chakra with the fog.
One day, ninja scouts from Hidden Cloud came close. Mali watched them try to land on the island. Then, suddenly, a big sea tornado formed around the island. It spun hard and fast. Mali used forbidden shadow clone jutsu to help make it strong. The cyclone blew away the scouts. No one could get close.
Mali talked with his team by the training fields. "They come every two days now. We have to be ready, but we fight on our terms."
Haruki smiled. "We will be ready, Mali. No one passes us."
Soma moved his hands in patterns like a dance. "I study their moves every day. We can plan better attacks."
Kenro flexed his muscles. "I'm ready to break anything coming here."
Mali looked at Megumi and Rei. Their Sharingan glowed faintly even when resting. "Train the young ones well. They are our future."
Their talk was simple. No fancy words or drama. Just plans and thoughts.
At night, Mali sat quietly. He thought about his Sharingan. It was not normal. His left eye gave him power to travel between worlds. He called it Realmstep. The right eye could make a small world inside him—very strong, but he was not ready to use it yet.
Mali did not tell anyone about this. Not even his family. Sometimes, keeping secrets is best.
