The basin fell to the ground, water spilling everywhere.
Su Wan woke with a start, forcefully pushing Long Xiaoshan away, and turned around to flee in a panic. As Long Xiaoshan watched her hurrying away, he touched his lips, then sprawled back on the bed with a slight curve forming at the corner of his mouth.
Long Xiaoshan meditated until midnight before finally lying down in Su Wan's bed and falling into a deep sleep.
The faint fragrance around him made his sleep particularly sweet.
The next morning, Long Xiaoshan got up from bed feeling refreshed and went downstairs, finding that the Su Family was already awake, as country folks rise early. After exchanging greetings,
Su Wu said impatiently, "Brother-in-law, you said you would help me get little Qin back. How are we going to do that?"
"What's the rush? Your Brother Xiaoshan just got up and hasn't even had a bite to eat yet. And stop with that 'brother-in-law' thing all the time," Su Wan scolded, glaring at Su Wu.
"Sister, I... I'm just anxious," Su Wu said. "I heard that their family is going to make little Qin marry very soon."
Long Xiaoshan said, "Little Wu, don't panic either. I haven't even understood the situation yet. Is little Qin at home now?"
"She must be locked at home. Since the affair between little Qin and me was discovered, her family hasn't let her out," replied Su Wu.
Long Xiaoshan nodded, "If that's the case, I'll go with you to little Qin's house first. After all, she is their daughter, and we should avoid using force if possible."
Su Wu quickly stood up, and Su Wan said, "I'll come too."
"Alright then, let's all go together," Long Xiaoshan agreed.
The three of them stepped out the door, and under Su Wu's lead, they followed Bai Xi towards the east end of the village. Passing through the village, many villagers were shocked to see Su Wu, exclaiming, "Little Wu, you're alright?"
Yesterday, Su Wu had been beaten into a deep coma, a fact that had already spread throughout the village, and there was even a rumor that Su Wu had been sent to the hospital and didn't survive.
However, due to the strong influence of the Su Songwang family,
not even the police had come to the village, and nobody dared to call them.
But now, only one night had passed, and Su Wu was already appearing in the village again, bouncing around as if nothing had happened, with no signs of injury to be seen.
"Of course, I'm fine," said Su Wu. "I'll settle accounts with Su Youqian sooner or later for hitting me."
The people all shook their heads and kept their distance from Su Wu.
In their eyes, Su Wu was practically seeking death by offending the Village Secretary's family and still daring to show up so boldly, and there were even some people who sneakily headed towards the Village Secretary's house.
Seeing this, Long Xiaoshan thought that the Village Secretary's influence in Baixi Village was not small, with not a single person coming forward to speak on behalf of Su Wu.
When they reached the east end of the village,
Su Wu pointed at a mud-brick house under a camphor tree and said, "There is little Qin's house."
Long Xiaoshan nodded and said, "Okay."
The three of them approached the door, and Long Xiaoshan knocked.
After a while, the door opened, revealing a middle-aged man in a blue jacket who looked suspiciously at Long Xiaoshan. His gaze then shifted to Su Wu and his expression changed, "You—that brat! Weren't you... How did you come back?"
"Uncle Facai," Su Wu called out.
"I told you not to come to my house anymore, get lost," Lin Facai said with a dark face, trying to slam the door shut.
Long Xiaoshan extended a hand to hold the door.
Lin Facai put all his strength into it, but the door wouldn't budge an inch. He bellowed at Long Xiaoshan, "Who are you?"
"Uncle, please don't get upset, I'm Su Wu's brother-in-law," he replied.
"Brother-in-law?" Lin Facai questioned suspiciously.
Su Wan rolled her eyes secretly; she realized it was a mistake to have Long Xiaoshan pretend to be her boyfriend. It felt as if he had stuck to her and couldn't be shaken off. Right now, though, she couldn't debunk him since Long Xiaoshan was helping her brother.
She had no choice but to step forward and say, "Uncle Facai, it's little Wan."
Lin Facai looked at the radiant and elegant beauty before him. Su Wan, after all, had been a manager outside, and that aura of a white-collar professional, along with her stunningly irresistible charm, made Lin Facai, a country farmer who dug up his livelihood from the soil, feel quite constrained.
He was aware that Su Wu had an older sister, Su Wan, considered a talented person in the village, rumored to be a hotel manager elsewhere.
Before Su Wan worked outside, the Wu family had been even poorer than his, but ever since she started working, their life quality had improved, and they even built a new tiled house.
However, there were also envious tongues in the village suggesting that Su Wan was a courtesan outside, which was how the Su family's life had gotten better.
