Chapter 331 After Work
As difficult as it was for Ma Lu to ascend the tower, descending was just as easy.
He took the elevator directly to the 172nd level to the Armory, with no obstructions along the way. Even if people on the intermediate floors pressed the button, the elevator would not stop.
There was no helping it; this was the true value of the highest authority.
Even if Li Wei disregarded the Church's orders and forcibly dispatched a squad of Knights to arrest Ma Lu and his Witch.
However, Ma Lu merely issued one command that paralyzed all of their Power Armors.
Thrilling!
He furthermore grabbed a personal terminal he had smoothly taken from Yong Yi, used it with a translator, and made an automated vending machine in the 1st Level lobby spit out 40 cans of beverage in one go, while also pulling up surveillance to enjoy the astonished expressions of the people below from multiple angles.
The more Ma Lu used it, the more he felt that what Yong Yi had handed over to him was not just any authority—it was clearly a cheat.
Unfortunately, it could only be used within the Holy Temple City; if the Holy Temple City were gone, such a powerful cheat would also have no place to be used.
It seemed Ma Lu had found another compelling reason to save this world.
Soon, the group was standing in front of the Armory.
The Armory on the 172nd level, unlike the ones open to ordinary Knights below, wasn't accessible to the public. Even for Captain Martin of the Sacred Order of Knights and Vice Captain Li Wei, getting something from inside wasn't easy.
In contrast, this place housed the proudest masterpieces of the Weaponry Department, each item worth hundreds of thousands of Atonement Points if sold according to the current pricing system.
And now it had opened itself up to Ma Lu.
The guards outside were all on high alert as they were tasked with guarding the Armory, yet they had recently received a divine decree instructing them to allow a group of people, who shouldn't have had access, into the Armory.
This caused a look of conflict to emerge on their faces, but ultimately, they did not raise their weapons against Ma Lu and the others.
A man who seemed to be the captain stepped forward and saluted Ma Lu.
"Master Ximu, we are only the outermost security force and do not possess the authority to open the main gate.
"If you wish to enter, you must first submit an application form that needs the approval of Captain Martin, Li Wei, and Vice Captain Kelson, then pass it on to the Holy See for approval by the Bishop and the Deacon Group, and finally be confirmed by the Pope…
"Also, your Witch may not accompany you into the Armory…"
Ma Lu simply cut him off, "There's no need for that, just step aside."
The guards exchanged looks, and finally, they stepped aside,
Then they saw Ma Lu tap a few times on the small terminal he was holding, and the great doors of the Armory slowly began to open to both sides.
"See, not complicated at all."
Having spoken, Ma Lu pocketed the terminal and, under the dumbfounded gazes of the guards, walked into the Armory with Yun Que and others.
As he passed the captain, he even patted him on the shoulder, "Keep the door well-guarded for me; don't let anyone else come in and disturb us."
The captain opened his mouth wide, then heard Ma Lu say, "Never mind, I'll just close the door myself; you and your team can go off duty now."
After even the last Bliss Bird in the queue had entered, the great doors of the Armory indeed closed again.
Ma Lu looked around and realized that although the armory wasn't too large, there were about a hundred pieces of equipment on display. Almost all were golden, with only a few pieces of Purple Gear, leaving Yun Que and the others stunned.
Ma Lu clapped his hands, "Okay, now it's shopping time. Pick whatever you like. Oh, and try to prioritize equipment that doesn't require surgery to use."
"We don't have much time left." Ma Lu glanced at his Traveler's Bracelet, "We have to leave here in 10 minutes."
While the four witches were choosing their equipment, Ma Lu was also busy.
Not only were there weapons for the witches, but there were also Power Armors for knights, apparently the latest prototype still under experimentation.
Ma Lu eyed a suit of armor called the First Generation Phoenix Series, which had an astonishing defensive power of 65 and a durability of 777.
It was even stronger than the one Li Wei was wearing.
Ma Lu didn't hesitate to put on the new armor, effectively turning him into a veritable fortified tower.
He also found a Great Shield after another round of searching, which was equally sturdy, even harder than the armor, adding an extra 20 points to his defensive power and 400 points to his durability.
Additionally, it included a mysterious but impressive spotlight function that could turn the shield into a spotlight when necessary.
Meanwhile, Hellhound and the others, like elementary school students entering a Candy House, were dazzled, wanting to cram everything good into their arms.
Although Ma Lu had told them that equipment requiring surgery could be skipped for now, the sight of tempting gear made it impossible for them to resist the urge to pack it up and take it with them.
They would use it if they ever got the chance.
Eventually, the five of them nearly swept half of the armory's inventory, with Hellhound and the others picking up twelve to thirteen pieces each, bags filled to the brim.
Yun Que alone was armed with 3 weapons, including a sniper rifle, a pistol, and a hand cannon, which allowed her to switch as needed depending on the situation—quite formidable indeed.
10 minutes later, the five of them walked out of the armory.
Surprisingly, the guards Ma Lu had forcefully sent off duty were still steadfast at their posts.
Ma Lu slightly exclaimed, "You haven't left yet? Well, that's perfect, let's head down together."
Without waiting for their response, he turned to Hellhound and the others, "I told you not to take what you can't use. Why won't you listen? We're about to go into battle, how can we manage with all this baggage?"
Yun Que pouted, looking aggrieved, "That's true, but who knows if we'll be able to come back later? Now that we have the chance, we might as well take it."
"Sigh, fine, let these guards help you keep it for now, and you can come back for it later."

"Why can't we put it on the aircraft?"
"There's also the risk of damage or loss on the aircraft, and besides, you need surgery to use these devices, which only the Church can provide the necessary equipment and expertise for. Ultimately, you'll still have to hand over the equipment to the Church, so what difference does it make to put it down now?"
"Hmm, you make some sense, but it seems it's even safer left in the armory."
"You see," Ma Lu then opened the door behind him again, "Let's get moving."
Upon hearing this, the four women reluctantly picked out the equipment they couldn't use at the moment and jogged back to put it away.
However, as Ma Lu closed the door of the armory, he turned around to find that the guards beside him had grown even more silent.
