Chapter 23: Beheading
"Why are you all standing there? Go and kill him."
Buck finally couldn't hold back the smile on his face, and he shouted in panic to the guards around him. The scene before him had scared him out of his wits. The bloody sight was too shocking for this disgusting slave trader.
"Hmph!" After glancing around, Shirou snorted in disgust, swung his sword, and before anyone could react, the heads of the two guards restraining Air and Fal had been severed.
Seeing this bloody scene, the surrounding guards couldn't help but fall silent.
Blood flowed on the ground, and the disgusting smell of blood spread throughout the room. Shirou remained relaxed, but in the eyes of Buck and the others, this demeanor was no different from that of a devil.
Seeing the stunned guards, Shirou didn't hesitate. He leaned forward and rushed toward Buck and the others. He naturally understood the principle of capturing the leader first. After all, it was daytime in the bustling imperial capital. If it were just him, it would be fine, but now there were three helpless girls, so he had to hurry.
*Pu-chi!* *Pu-chi!* *Pu-chi!*
The two swords in his hands drew graceful trajectories one after another, and crimson blood splattered from the tips of the blades. The guards, who could only bully ordinary people, seemed so fragile under his swordsmanship that they couldn't even resist.
The guards who had been laughing at the three girls were now clutching their necks, as if wanting to live a little longer, but it was futile. Bright red blood flowed from between their fingers, snatching away their lives.
In just a dozen seconds, all the black-clad guards lay on the ground. Some of them were still trembling, but it was useless. Their sinful lives had vanished, leaving only their dying struggles.
After dealing with all this, Shirou turned around and found that Buck and his four companions had disappeared. Clearly, in just a dozen seconds, the four of them had fled.
'Can you escape?'
Shirou raised the corner of his mouth into a sneer, then turned and said to the three dazed girls: "Stay here and don't move. I'll be back soon."
After saying this, he turned and walked in the direction where Buck and his companions had fled.
❂❂❂❂❂
At this moment, Buck and his four companions were running through a secret passage in a very shameful manner that was completely unlike their usual image. They had prepared this secret passage long ago. As so-called elites, they were very cautious about their safety, so preparing a tunnel was nothing.
"Hurry, once we get out of the tunnel, head straight to the security force headquarters, and we'll be safe." Buck said to the three people behind him.
The exit of this tunnel was in a house in the imperial capital. Right across from the house was the headquarters of the imperial capital's security forces. As long as they reached there, they would be under the protection of the security forces. That's why they had set up the secret entrance there.
No one responded. During this life-threatening moment, the other three clearly had no intention of paying attention to Buck and just ran forward with all their might.
'We're almost there, almost at the exit.'
Buck shouted in his heart, and the joy of escaping death gradually filled his heart.
Fifty meters left.
*SWOOSH!* *SWOOSH!* *SWOOSH!*
*Pu-chi!* *Pu-chi!* *Pu-chi!*
Normally, it would take less than ten seconds to cover such a short distance, but he stopped—three red flashes passed by his face.
Did the attacker miss because he didn't aim at him?
Of course not.
Three heavy thuds sounded behind him. Buck didn't turn around; he clearly understood what it meant.
The slave trader, filled with fear, stared at the man holding a bow and arrow.
"Wait, wait, we have no grudges, right? Are you an assassin? I can pay you double, no, triple the price, just please let me go."
"Oh? That sounds tempting, but sorry, I'm not an assassin." Shirou said with a hint of mockery at the corner of his mouth, looking at the trash begging before him, "It seems your wealth can't guarantee your life, so..."
"Wait, wait, those three girls are useless to you." Buck panicked. Suddenly, as if he had thought of something, he quickly said, "I see, you're interested in them, right? I knew it! The three of them are good goods. Just take them if you want. As long as you let me go, I can find more and better goods for you. Please..."
However, he didn't realize that as he spoke, Shirou's gaze grew colder, and a faint aura of killing intent spread from his body.
"Wait, wait a second, let me explain. I had no choice but to do this. Look, this is the mark of slavery. My mother made me..."
Without even looking at the red mark on Buck's chest, Shirou had already taken action.
*SWOOSH!*
*Pu-chi!*
He drew his bow and pulled the arrow. Without hesitation, the red arrow pierced Buck's forehead right before his disbelieving eyes. The tremendous force even pushed Buck's entire body back a few steps.
Buck stretched out his right hand, as if there was still something to say, but it was useless. Death approached the slave trader as the arrow struck his head.
"You're more disgusting than I thought." Shirou said coldly, then his eyes shifted to the red mark on Buck's chest. "Even if that's the case, it's no excuse for you to do such things."
Without staying here any longer, he walked back to the starting point, where he still had things to do.
The smell of blood in the room was still strong. Because of his speed, no one had time to call for help. Moreover, such transactions weren't too open, so in this room, there was almost no one else. Minute by minute passed, and everything remained the same.
Air and Luna, the two girls who could still move, were taking care of Fal, who was lying on the ground. The guard hadn't held back when punching her. After all, for their masters, as long as the goods didn't die, everything was fine.
Even so, the excruciating pain from her stomach still stimulated Fal's nerves, causing her to unconsciously curl up on the ground and shiver.
"Hold on, Fal, you'll be fine soon." Seeing their companion in pain, Air and Luna couldn't hold back their tears, "That person will be back soon, and you'll be fine when he returns."
"Oh? I don't remember saying I wanted to save her. Why do you say that?"
The three girls heard those words.
"She looks like a burden, so why not just leave her here? When the security team arrives, you can accuse her of being the murderer. This will also help you avoid suspicion. What do you think?"
"Why..."
"Please, don't leave Fal here, she'll die." At this moment, Air knelt in front of Shirou, "Please, save Fal, as long as you can save her, I can do anything, please, save her."
"Hmm?" Shirou looked down at the girl who kept pleading on the ground, and a faint smile appeared at the corner of his mouth. "What can you do? You should know that you're useless. I can't help you either, you don't need to do anything."
"No, I can serve you. I can do housework and please you very well. If I don't understand, I can learn. I just beg you to save her."
Shirou stared at her without moving a bit, and Air did the same. After all, the person before her was her only hope for help.
As time passed, Air's heart gradually calmed.
'Of course, no one would care about us.'
Just as Air was thinking this, she saw the other party turn and walk away, then a sentence that made her happy crossed her mind.
"If you want to leave, hurry up and take that girl with you. It'll be too late to go."
Shirou turned to the two girls who were busy supporting Fal, gave a small nod, then looked out the window.
'The security team is quite fast this time. After all, it's broad daylight, so there's nothing we can do.'
Thinking this, Shirou, who was carrying three burdens, didn't look worried at all. He stretched out his right hand, and a strange sword appeared in his hand, but this wasn't a product of Projection Magecraft, but a Mystic Code.
"If I hadn't gotten this thing yesterday, it would have been a bit troublesome." Shirou muttered as he looked at the sword.
This sword had a famous title among Magus—the Jeweled Sword of Zelretch.
