Unlock Kamen Riders in Douluo's Way

Chapter 24: Chapter 24

Early the next morning, as the students bustled about Shrek Academy, a curious rumor rippled through the grounds.

"Did you hear that last night? A dragon's roar..."

"You heard it too? I thought it was just my imagination."

"Imagination? No way! It resonated across the entire sky. My dormitory windows were shaking."

"Soul beasts... but that's impossible inside the academy, right? Could it have been some dragon-type martial soul breaking through?"

"Maybe, but I didn't sense any soul power fluctuations."

Luo Pupu, looking pale and drawn, made her way towards the classroom. Fang Xin, noticing her friend's condition, asked with concern, "Pupu, are you alright? Maybe you should rest today. I can manage on my own."

"No, it's your first day of formal classes. I promised I'd be there. Don't worry about me. I just overdid it with practice last night and didn't sleep well," Luo Pupu replied, forcing a smile.

She wasn't being entirely truthful. She had been practicing, but her pallor stemmed from a dragon's roar that had suddenly reverberated in her mind. As a dragon-type martial soul master herself, she was particularly sensitive to such sounds.

That voice… it came from a dragon-like martial soul whose level was no lower than my own. But I don't know of any other students here with a top-tier dragon beast martial soul.

"Typical of Shrek Academy. There are always monsters I don't know about," she mumbled. "I have to keep pushing myself. I can't afford to fall behind."

She also learned from Fang Xin that she has not unlocked the power of the Kamen Rider yet. Luo Pupu thought that after Yin Xiaoya finds someone, they will set off to the Soul Beast Forest together.

Luo Pupu followed the suggestion of Green Fruit Swamp Dragon, and tried to stabilize her strength now, trying to control the rider's strength before they set off. For this, she had to do one thing quietly afterwards.

"Fang Xin, I'll be with you today, but I might not be around as much from tomorrow. Will you be okay?" Luo Pupu asked.

"I'll be fine. I've already met some of the other classmates. If I need help with anything, I'll just ask them. But what are you planning to do?" Fang Xin tilted her head, her brow furrowed in concern.

Luo Pupu's eyes darted away for a moment before she replied in a hushed tone, "I can't absorb spirit bones yet, so it will take some time to stabilize my strength. And you know what the master said yesterday: even though we both have top-level martial souls, it'll be difficult to get promoted to the advanced department if we don't keep up."

"Oh, right, there's that. Then you should work hard, and I'll work hard too," Fang Xin replied, nodding earnestly.

Luo Pupu felt a pang of guilt for lying to Fang Xin so early in their friendship. But there's no way around it. If the teachers knew what I was planning, they'd definitely stop me. I'll just have to keep it a secret for now.

"Speaking of, where is Big Brother? The other students tried to find him this morning, but he doesn't seem to have a place to stay," Fang Xin mentioned, changing the subject.

"I have no idea. After we parted ways yesterday, Xiaoya went off somewhere with the dean. Do you think it has something to do with the dragon's roar last night?" Luo Pupu shrugged, feigning ignorance.

I have a feeling it has something to do with Yin Xiaoya, she thought.

While many students searched for Yin Xiaoya, he remained in Flender's office, intently studying files of the academy's students.

"Look, after the Erlong situation last night, I'm already convinced. Even if you didn't participate in the Seven Monster challenge, I would have personally given you whatever you wanted," Flender offered, leaning back in his chair.

Yin Xiaoya dismissed the offer without looking up from the files. "Dean, the battle with the Seven Monsters is no longer just about proving something to you. The entire school knows about it now. If I want to spread the power of Kamen Rider, I have to prove its worth in a direct confrontation with the Seven Monsters. It's the most effective way to show the students the appeal of Kamen Riders."

"Alright," Flender conceded, but his mind was elsewhere. "Where did Erlong go?"

Yin Xiaoya offered a knowing smile. "Don't worry about her. I think you should be more concerned about the master. The dragon's roar yesterday has already stirred up rumors throughout the academy, but hasn't it struck you as odd that he hasn't come to ask you about it?"

"That's true... But you and Erlong both told me to leave him alone for the time being... Could it be that Erlong went looking for him?" Flender's eyes widened with concern.

"That? I couldn't possibly know," Yin Xiaoya said innocently.

"..."

The Seven Shrek Monsters, befitting their status, lived in a luxurious part of the academy, each with their own private room. As dawn broke, Shi Er, who had just finished training, was still asleep. Su Xuan and Dai Yin, carrying forty kilograms of weighted gear, were already outside, starting their daily exercises.

"Bibi Dong, let's go. Hurry up when you're ready," Su Xuan called, knocking on Bibi Dong's door before leaving. Receiving no response, she assumed Bibi Dong was still asleep and left without a second thought.

"I don't understand why we have to wait for her every time. She's even more of a monster than we are. She can complete the training at nearly the same time, and even if she doesn't, the master probably won't punish her," Dai Yin grumbled without looking back.

"That's not necessarily true. You know the master. He always emphasizes the teacher-student relationship. It's not like he hasn't reprimanded Bibi Dong before," Su Xuan countered with a wry smile.

"But the problem is that Bibi Dong seems to romanticize even the master's scoldings," Dai Yin retorted, shaking his head.

"Heh heh heh," Su Xuan chuckled awkwardly, unable to argue with his point.

"After today's training, I'm challenging that Kamen Rider," Dai Yin announced, his voice filled with anticipation.

"Why? The dean said there will be a battle arrangement later. Why are you in such a rush?" Su Xuan asked, frowning slightly. "Are you just itching for a fight?"

"Oh, it has nothing to do with that. In this academy, the only ones who can fight me evenly are the Seven Monsters, but I'm already bored with those fights. You said yourself that this guy is stronger than you. If that's true, I don't care if it's some new power. As long as it gives me a good fight, I'm in! You must have thought about it too," Dai Yin said, a grin spreading across his face.

Su Xuan remained silent, but a fierce fighting spirit ignited in her eyes.

"Hmph, you are one of the Seven Monsters after all," Dai Yin said with a knowing smile. He then accelerated his pace, leaving Su Xuan to quickly catch up.

Meanwhile, Bibi Dong, still inside her room, stirred awake. In this world, Bibi Dong was twenty-one years old, fifteen years younger than Yu Xiaogang. Despite being an adult, she still had a youthful spirit and always took great care in her appearance before going out.

I want to look my best when I see him, she thought.

After a quick wash, she sat down at her vanity, but her hands froze. Her eyes were drawn to an object she had never seen before.

"What's this? Eyeballs?"

As she reached for it, the eyeball, adorned with a golden dragon pattern against a crimson backdrop, suddenly levitated. A red light emanated from within.

"What is this? Hmm..."

Before she could react, the eyeball flew towards her outstretched hand and merged into her body. Her eyes widened, and red ripples of energy washed over her. After a moment, she slowly sat up straight, her expression transformed, her eyes glowing with a faint red light.

"What amazing talent. Twin martial souls, and both of them are top-tier. Truly worthy of being a genius that Xiaogang and Boss Fu have taken a fancy to," Liu Erlong said, marveling at the body she now inhabited.

She glanced at her reflection in the mirror. "Has your love for Xiaogang reached this point? Don't worry, I'm just borrowing your body, and as his woman, let me take the first turn. Anyway, I came first."

Ignoring the cosmetics on the table, Liu Erlong left the room, her face cool and composed.

As for the Shrek Seven Monsters, their daily training regimen was designed and personally supervised by Yu Xiaogang. Afterwards, he would spend the rest of the day working with the academy's "trash" students.

"Master? Master?"

"Eh? Ah, here you are." Yu Xiaogang, startled out of his thoughts, saw Su Xuan and Dai Yin standing before him, sweating profusely. He shook his head, dismissing his reverie, and stood up slowly.

"Where's Bibi Dong? Why isn't she here for the morning training?" Yu Xiaogang asked, his brow furrowing with concern.

Su Xuan and Dai Yin exchanged uneasy glances. It was unprecedented for Bibi Dong to miss their morning training. "Before we left, I knocked on her door, but she didn't respond. It was no different than usual, so we went ahead."

"I guess she overslept again. That won't do. The Martial Soul Saint Association is less than half a year away. If she continues to slack off, how will we compete with the Martial Soul Hall? Let's go call on her together," Yu Xiaogang said, his voice laced with urgency.

He started walking towards her room, and the two followed reluctantly. After a few steps, however, all three of them froze. Bibi Dong, clad in a red and gold outfit, was approaching.

Su Xuan gasped, covering her mouth in disbelief. Bibi Dong never wore such bright colors and always applied makeup before leaving her room. If it weren't for her face, Su Xuan wouldn't have recognized her.

Yu Xiaogang was stunned. He only had eyes for Bibi Dong. It was as if the world around him had faded, and he could only hear his own heartbeat. He was seeing a figure that haunted his dreams overlapping with Bibi Dong.

Seeing Yu Xiaogang's reaction, Liu Erlong's heart welled with mixed emotions. She felt a pang of sadness and a surge of longing. Biting her tongue to regain control, she said in a calm voice, "Sorry I'm late."

Yu Xiaogang's breathing quickened, and his tone faltered. But the reality was that the person in front of him was Bibi Dong. He cherished her and had never considered her a substitute for Liu Erlong. Even so, the conflicting feelings overwhelmed him. He pinched his thigh to ground himself and pretended to be angry.

"Why... why are you so late? And where's your weight-bearing suit? Haven't you been training?"

Liu Erlong rolled her eyes. She knew that serious expression all too well and couldn't resist teasing him. "I didn't sleep well, I don't have an appetite, so I'm in a bad mood. I don't feel like training."

Su Xuan and Dai Yin instinctively took a step back. Yu Xiaogang's forehead throbbed, and his face darkened. Seeing him struggle to contain his anger, Liu Erlong couldn't help but chuckle, shaking her head.

You really haven't changed, even after ten years. You're still helpless when it comes to women.
