Vampire Cultivation System in a Hidden World of Monsters

Chapter 156: Revival

I tried to turn the key in the lock and it wouldn't budge and I only had 30 seconds left before we crashed into Mars. Damn it. Maybe it was a by earner thing. Meaning, the person who earned the reward had to unlock the chest.

I grabbed Thistle's hand and put it around the key, and tried to turn it. No good. Nothing happened. Then I grabbed Penny's hand, did the same thing, and it finally turned.

Ok so that was how it worked. I grabbed Thistle's hand and made her turn the key in the lock of the other chest. It also turned. Both chests opened and revealed the cure all medicine.

I snatched them both and shoved them into Midas. I need to manifest him more. It was just such a drain on my mental resources to do that and tell him what to do all the time. It was so much easier if I just did everything.

What I needed was a way to just have him manifested all the time. And have some way he could read my mind so he knows what to do. That way I didn't have to think about it.

'System, how much time?'

[10 seconds left]

Put the key in the lock and locked the dungeon. Then I put it back in my inventory and grabbed the girls. I didn't have time to revive them, which meant I couldn't hide that I had failed them. That I had allowed them to die.

Sure they would see me resurrect Thistle and Penny, but they would know I had allowed them to die in the first place, which wouldn't make me look good, that was for sure.

Not that I was sure I wanted to hide it. I had always been upfront and honest about my mistakes. Especially, when it wasn't convenient for me. Starting keeping secrets now would be a bad habit to form, so even if I did have the time, I wouldn't do it.

That said, I jumped through the portal and ran away from the portal. I didn't want to be sitting under it again when I giant chunk of metal tried to fall on me.

The portal closed just in time for no shrapnel to travel through the portal. Shikasa, and my girls were standing there.

"What happened?" Hope said. "Are they alright?"

"Dylan, are you ok?" Victoria said.

"You failed, didn't you?" Shikasa said. She didn't say it in an admonishing tone. She said more as an observation than anything. It wasn't a criticism. Just a fact.

"Yes, mother, I failed." I said. "Gather around girls. Your leader has something to tell you."

They all gathered around me and Thistle and Penny in a circle. I took out one of the cure all medicines, and put it into the replicator. Then I fed several gold bars into the machine until it dinged. I closed the top.

It whirred and hissed. When I opened it, there was the original and a copy in the machine. I took out the copy and put more gold bars into the machine until it dinged again. I closed the top, waited a few seconds and then opened it again.

Another copy was in the receptacle. I kept removing the copy and making more. Each one cost me $100,000,000 in gold bars. That was the drawback of the equivalent exchange. The exchange had to be equivalent and the cure all medicine was insanely valuable. As valuable as a life you might say.

I wouldn't put value on a life, but paying $100,000,000 was definitely worth it to save one. I continued to make them as I spoke, "I failed my mission. I had one job. Protect the girls. Keep them safe. And I failed. I'm sorry for that. I'm going to bring them back to life, but the fact doesn't change that they died, and I failed."

"What I'm doing right now, is creating two back up syringes for each and every one of you, should I fail you too. This way, I won't have to try to make one on the battlefield. I sincerely hope I never have to use them."

"Not that it matters much, but this is going to cost me over 3 billion dollars. It's obviously worth it, because you are all the most important thing to me. My top priority."

Once I was done making the back ups and the three I needed for Thistle, Penny, and Mel, I pulled two syringes out. I jabbed one into Thistle's arm and injected it. Then I jabbed one into Penny's arm and injected it.

After a few seconds, they both started breathing again and opened their eyes.

"What happened?" Thistle said. "How are we outside the dungeon already?"

"I think I died," Penny said, starting to tear up. She grabbed me by the shoulders and tried to shake me, saying "Dylan, did I die?" Tears fell down her face.

I just hugged her. Then I grabbed Thistle and pulled her into the hug too. They both cried as they realized what had happened. "I'm sorry girls," I said. "It won't happen again."

They cried for a long time and I held them until they stopped. Thistle put her head against mine and kissed me. "Thank you for bringing us back," she said.

"I don't deserve that," I said.

"Just take it," she said, and kissed me again. We kissed and made out for what felt like minutes until I felt a tap on my shoulder.

I broke the kiss and looked over to see Penny pouting. "Where are my kisses?"

"Right here," I said as I caressed the side of her face, and pulled her in for a kiss. She kissed me back passionately. Then she exploratorily stuck her tongue in my mouth.

I rubbed my tongue against hers and she did the same. We actually made out for minutes, until Thistle whined. I kept switching back and forth between the two of them, until I realized what was happening.

I picked them both up and walked to where I knew the closest bedroom was in the Dragon Sect buildings.

"We'll be back! Wait for us or meet us at the hotel. Your choice," I said as I walked away.
