Chapter 28: Chapter 27

Chapter 27 Killing Seaforth

Bruch observed a group of twelve marines encircling three young girls.

A short individual, dressed elegantly and possessing brown hair, was gripping a chain in his hand.

The other end of this chain was fastened around the necks of the three girls.

He commanded them to urgently pour wine into their mouths; any halt in their actions would result in them being whipped.

Bruch was overwhelmed by the scene before him.

The overwhelming display of violence stirred a profound murderous intent within him, causing it to surge uncontrollably.

He focused on suppressing the twelve marines, particularly the short, well-dressed man.

The formidable aura of hostility appeared tangible, prompting the ornate young man to collapse to the ground, his eyes wide in terror, fixated on Bruch.

The chain he had been wielding was cast aside.

Bruch advanced, while he unsheathed Kitetsu, severing the chains before gently lifting the three girls, who bore injuries and reeking of alcohol. He instructed his adjutant to escort them out.

The girls evidently were civilians, likely inhabitants of the island.

With this thought, Bruch's murderous resolve intensified, causing the assembled marines to kneel in submission almost immediately.

At this moment, the young man, visibly shaken, stuttered incoherently:

"Who are you? What do you intend to do? Do you know who my father is? "

Bruch frowned, pondering the identity of this individual.

In reply, a resounding kick followed!

Bruch struck the ornate young man in the chest, sending him flying ten meters.

As he traveled, a sharp crack resonated, leaving uncertainty about which bone in the young man's body had been fractured.

"Aaaaah! "

A cry of agony escaped the young man's lips as he clutched his chest in desperation, cold sweat streaming down his face.

The surrounding marine personnel, witnessing the incident, found perspiration breaking out on their brows. They recognized that the figure before them was adorned in the uniform of a genuine captain.

This individual was associated with headquarters.

"Who do you think you are, daring to strike me, Seaforth? Just wait; my father will ensure you are punished! "

The young man held onto his chest, his expression shifting from fear to malice as he glared at Bruch.

He disregarded the identity of the person before him, fully aware that his father held the highest authority in this branch and would definitely avenge him.

Bruch's expression remained impassive, having already condemned the individual named Seaforth, alongside the dozen marines, to execution.

"Who is your father? "

"My father is the most powerful marine here, Fisillo Disil. Boy, are you intimidated? If you are, I suggest you apologize to me right now."

Seaforth's demeanor abruptly shifted to one of arrogance; however, his posture on the ground, clutching his chest, resembled a maggot awaiting its demise.

Bruch expressed his anger through laughter, exclaiming, "What the hell? "

"Hahaha" He continued to laugh.

Seaforth envisioned the opposing marine members kneeling before him, pleading for mercy.

Suddenly, he perceived a swift movement through the air and sensed a lightness in his body, as if he were soaring.

"What is that? " he wondered.

He spotted a richly clad figure, lacking a head.

Then, he descended into an abyss of darkness.

Bruch turned to the Marines still kneeling and remarked icily, "Where is Fisillo? "

His chilling words pierced their ears, inducing a shiver.

The nearest marine hesitantly lifted his head and replied, "Captaim Fisillo has gone out to sea to collect taxes. he'll return soon. "

As he spoke, his gaze instinctively drifted toward Seaforth's headless body nearby.

Only moments ago, they had been conversing and laughing.

"Taxes? "

The bewildered question reached the marine's ears, prompting him to quickly refocus on Bruch.

"Yes, yes, taxes! Each month, a specific tax is imposed on civilians from the four neighboring islands. "

This taxation occurs monthly, yielding substantial revenue and resulting in the impoverishment of the residents from these four smaller islands.

Without these taxes, the women and daughters of the locals would either be seized and enslaved or executed on the spot. The crucial matter is that the South blue Sea is vast.

They found themselves unable to escape, and if discovered, they faced brutal torture.

Over time, the inhabitants of the four nearby islands grew increasingly numb to their plight.

From the marine, it was heard that Fisillo's accumulation of wealth seemed connected to piracy, although the details were unclear. It was only known that Fisillo maintained intimate ties with pirates.

After processing the marine's reports, Bruch slipped into deep contemplation, slowly turning away from them.

Abruptly, a sword sliced through the throat of the marine.

He methodically sheathed Sandai Kitetsu.

"In light of your extensive conversation with me, I will provide you with a parting gift. "

"Come in! "

Bruch commanded, allowing the marines by the door to enter.

"String these dozen individuals up on the pillars; I want them displayed."

"Yes! " The marines promptly advanced to escort the more than a dozen marines out.

At that moment, the adjutant stated, "Captain, we have recently examined the entire island and found no remaining navy personnel, but we did uncover a concealed prison. "

"A concealed prison? "

"Indeed! "

"Lead me there."

Before exiting the room, Bruch glanced back at the headless body, sneered.

Following the adjutant, Bruch arrived at a blue cylindrical structure.

On the ground, a piece of limestone was unexpectedly uncovered, forming a perfect square approximately two meters in width.

This created a stark contrast with the surrounding vegetation.

"This is it! " The adjutant gazed at the limestone, crouched down, grasped it with both hands, and exerted considerable effort.

He observed the limestone slowly shifting, unveiling a pathway of stone steps.

As he ascended the stone steps, not a speck of dust rose around him, suggesting that it was maintained regularly.

This prompted Bruch's curiosity about what lay below.

Tap tap tap~

His large black leather shoes produced a particularly distinct sound against the somewhat shadowy stone steps.

He continued downwards.

A beam of light began to emerge in the dim surroundings ahead.

It was the glow of firelight.

Tick tock

In the dark, moist atmosphere, oil lamps were lit, causing part of the humidity to evaporate, which then condensed on the upper stone slabs. This resulted in numerous droplets of water forming.

One by one, they slowly descended.

A peculiar sensation surged in Bruch's heart.

What purpose does this place serve?

At that moment, someone's voice calling out seemed to emanate from the front.
