Vegeta: Hakaishin

Chapter 15: Exploration Saga 1

Trunks stared in utter disbelief, his mind a whirlwind of thoughts and emotions. Watching his father battle Frieza had been nothing short of breathtaking.

The sheer brutality with which Vegeta dispatched Frieza was both frightening and awe-inspiring. But Trunks couldn't ignore the gnawing

fear that his mere presence here might have already altered the timeline.

As the dust settled, revealing two massive craters marking the deaths of Frieza and King Cold, the Z-Fighters stood in a mix of awe and unease. Tien and Piccolo, battered and bruised, floated toward the group, their injuries a stark reminder of the power they had just faced.

Despite their relief at Frieza's defeat, tension remained palpable among the group. Vegeta, now a Super Saiyan, had claimed victory, but trust in the Saiyan prince was still in short supply.

"Wow… Vegeta is pretty strong, isn't he?" Bulma said, her voice tinged with amazement. "I mean, Frieza was supposed to be unbeatable, and yet he was defeated so easily!"

Her excitement contrasted sharply with the wary expressions of the others. Bulma, however, had seen firsthand how hard Vegeta had been pushing himself, and part of her couldn't help but admire him for it.

Trunks, meanwhile, wrestled with his swirling thoughts. He hadn't expected his father to achieve such power at this point in history. This was supposed to be Goku's moment, not Vegeta's. Had his arrival already set off a chain of events that would ripple through time? For now, those questions would have to wait. He had a mission: warn the Z-Fighters and speak to Goku.

"Bulma, who's this guy with you?" Yamcha asked, his eyes narrowing as he glanced at Trunks. The young man had been deliberately suppressing his power, making it difficult for anyone to gauge his strength.

With a shrug, Bulma replied, "I don't know. That jerk Vegeta told him to protect me. Oh, and he said he's a Saiyan. Don't ask me how he knows that."

Trunks tensed. He didn't want to interact too much and risk revealing more than necessary, but with everyone already aware of his presence, there was no avoiding it.

"For a moment, I thought it was my dad…" Gohan said quietly, his voice tinged with sadness.

Looking skyward, Krillin added, "Yeah, Goku still hasn't come back. What's he doing right now?"

"Ah! If it's about Goku, then he'll be here in three hours," Trunks blurted out without thinking.

The group turned to him in surprise. "Three hours? And how do you know that?" Krillin asked, suspicious.

Trunks pointed to a nearby clearing. "I know where he'll land. If you want, you can come with me."

The Z-Fighters exchanged glances, unsure of how to respond. How did this boy know so much, and why wouldn't he explain himself?

While the others prepared to follow Trunks, Vegeta remained aloft, his golden aura flickering as his Super Saiyan transformation faded. He floated in silence, reflecting on his victory. For the first time, he felt a sense of worth—not just as a Saiyan warrior, but as the prince of his people. A smirk crept onto his lips before he descended, landing with practiced grace.

Bulma rushed toward him, shouting in congratulations. Without hesitation, she threw her arms around him, surprising the stoic Saiyan. Vegeta allowed the embrace, his smirk softening ever so slightly. Nearby, Piccolo glanced at Vegeta and offered a subtle nod of acknowledgment, which Vegeta returned with a small smirk and a thumbs-up.

"Can we trust this kid?" Piccolo asked, turning his attention back to the mysterious boy.

"I don't know, but he's wearing a Capsule Corp jacket," Krillin noted. "Bulma, is he one of yours?"

"No idea," Bulma said, still clinging to Vegeta. "But he seems to know a lot more than he's letting on."

Without waiting for further debate, Trunks took to the sky, motioning for the group to follow. Vegeta, already suspecting Trunks' true identity, said nothing and joined them. The group flew toward the spot Trunks had indicated, curiosity and skepticism swirling among them.

When they arrived, Trunks landed and pointed at a specific area. "This is where Goku's ship will touch down. We just need to wait."

The others exchanged wary glances but decided to trust him for now. Most of them took the opportunity to pepper him with questions about how he knew so much, but Trunks remained tight-lipped. Instead, he focused on the horizon, scanning for any sign of Goku's arrival.

Bulma, sensing the boy's reluctance to talk, turned her attention to Vegeta. She sat beside him, her attempts at flirting met with his usual stoic indifference. Still, she couldn't help but be drawn to him, finding charm in his cold demeanor.

Meanwhile, Vegeta's mind raced. He needed a plan. The androids were coming, and while he felt confident in his ability to handle Androids 17 and 18, the memory of Cell in his perfect form lingered in the back of his mind. 'I only remember his perfect form, but I don't know how he achieved it in the first place. This could slow my plans.'

He resolved to train harder than ever, but for now, he would keep his thoughts to himself.

Hours passed, and the group grew restless. Just as some were beginning to doubt Trunks' claim, a bright light streaked across the sky, everyone looked up in unison as Goku's ship descended, landing precisely where Trunks had said it would.

Goku emerged from the pod, his cheerful demeanor and infectious grin instantly easing the tension. "Hey, everyone! Sorry to keep you waiting!"
