Veil of Dusk A dystopian world

Chapter 20: “The Four Pillars of Resonance”

1. Shodan (初段) – "First Path"

Rioji: "Shodan is the first step. Here, you learn the basic control of a specific type of resonance. It's like learning to take your first steps: you can use resonance for a short time, but you haven't fully mastered it yet. There are four different types of resonance, each marked by a color:

 • Kōtai (Physical Resonance) in red,

 • Shizen (Elemental Resonance) in blue,

 • Seishin (Mental Resonance) in green,

 • Undō (Kinetic Resonance) in yellow."

 2. Nidan (二段) – "Second Path"

Rioji: "Nidan is the next stage. Here, you learn how to use your resonance in the most effective way. The Celestia Test has shown you what type of resonance lies within you and its associated color. You can now use your resonance for longer periods and begin to develop your abilities further. It's like learning the language of resonance.

Everyone progresses at their own pace. Some are naturally more talented and develop faster—that's completely normal. Most people manage to reach Nidan, but it's by no means easy. It requires hard training, discipline, and patience. There are no shortcuts, Kyro. It's a long road, and you'll face many challenges along the way."

 3. Sandan (三段) – "Third Path"

Rioji: "Sandan is the next stage. At this point, you've fully mastered resonance. You can perform complex techniques and use resonance over long periods. You develop your own fighting style and use resonance as naturally as speaking a language fluently.

But even here, the journey doesn't end. Only a few manage to reach the stage of the Shinsei. They have a natural connection to resonance that gives them virtually limitless control. Some of the greatest fighters in history never mastered Sandan. Those who do belong to the best in the world."

 4. Shinsei (神聖) – "Holy Path"

Rioji: "The Shinsei are the strongest and most experienced fighters in the world. They are the elite of the elite, and they have completely mastered resonance.

Only the chosen few reach this stage. They have a natural connection to resonance that gives them unimaginable control over it. It's like the awakening of a god. The Shinsei are untouchable, unparalleled—the ultimate embodiment of what resonance can be."

Rioji: "There are a few more things you need to understand, Kyro:

 • The Color of Blood:

The color you saw during the blood test reveals your resonance type. It is your natural gift. You cannot change your resonance type, but you can learn to control and use it effectively. Each type is unique and offers a special connection to resonance.

 • Shizen – The Elemental Resonance:

Shizen, the blue resonance, represents the control of elements. However, anyone with Shizen is assigned a specific element they can use—be it fire, water, earth, or air. You can strengthen and develop your element, but you cannot change it. Your element becomes a part of you, something you can enhance through training and discipline.

 • The Training:

Most people manage to reach Nidan, but it's a long and difficult journey. It requires patience, discipline, and relentless training. There are no shortcuts. You must master each phase to progress, Kyro."

Rioji: "Now, let's move on to more detailed information about the abilities and fighting styles of the divisions.

Kyro, let me explain the world of the White Wolves to you. In our base, there are four divisions, each with their own specialties. They are as different as night and day, but they work together to achieve our common goal: to change the world."
