Viego in Arknights

Chapter 27: (VIA) Chapter 27: Viego: It's... It's Coming Out!!

In the ruins, Viego supported Ines and W, facing dozens of enemy mercenaries who outnumbered them. Clearly, the enemy had used some unknown method to bypass Ines's perception, circling around to Viego's group's front and cornering them here.

Ines was silent for a moment, then said softly, "My apologies. I made a mistake."

"Don't act like you have the responsibility to save the whole world, Ines," W sneered. "I almost thought you were an omnipotent saint. Besides... we're not at death's door yet."

"…Are you trying to comfort me?" Ines turned her head to look at W. "We have no reinforcements. You don't think we're in a desperate situation?"

"Have your ears gone bad? I'm cursing you, you stupid woman." W pulled Ines away from Viego's support, and just sat on the ground.

Viego let go at the right moment and stepped forward. The mercenaries didn't seem to be in a hurry to attack, perhaps thinking that Viego, with two heavily injured companions, would have no ability to resist them.

—And even if he did resist, they could kill him instantly. No matter how strong he was, he couldn't possibly defeat so many of them, especially since the white-haired man had two heavily injured companions with him. If he didn't want his companions to die, he would surely hesitate to act for fear of collateral damage.

W looked at Viego's back, her hand resting on Ines's shoulder, a brilliant smile spreading across her face. "Don't you think that what Viego said before was actually the truth?"

"Which part are you referring to? The part where he said he didn't want to touch your legs?" Ines deliberately asked, also looking at Viego's figure. "I won't believe him—even if it's very likely the truth." Ines, of course, knew what W was talking about. This crazy woman beside her truly believed that Viego had the strength to kill all the enemies.

But Ines was unwilling to believe Viego—it wasn't due to some cliché suspicion or emotional thinking, but simply because she didn't want to let her guard down around him. Even if Viego could really do it, she would still maintain a skeptical attitude. Anyway, her skepticism wouldn't affect the existence of reality. Ines simply was unwilling to let herself have such blind trust in anyone.

Blindness makes people foolish, and ultimately leads them into the abyss of death—this was the creed Ines had always lived by.

But W was different. She was a lunatic, and unlike Ines, she didn't use a cold, prickly shell to package and protect herself. Her trust and her vigilance towards Viego were both completely unconcealed. Her trust was because of Viego's performance; her vigilance was due to her past experiences and the fact that she had only known him for a short time.

But at least at this moment, she truly and completely believed that the man could, as he had said, kill all the pursuers before them.

A thin black mist gradually began to spread around Viego's body, giving his figure a hint of gloom.

The Black Mist pours out of me, like a great tide!

No one saw Viego's lips press tightly together as he forced himself to keep his mouth shut, preventing himself from reciting the "lines" that had suddenly appeared in his mind.

It's great to have "money." The Black Mist can be scattered around as if it costs nothing. Viego couldn't help but sigh in his heart as he felt the incomparably full and strong Ruination within his body.

There has never been such a wonderful opening!

The unprecedentedly abundant Ruination was stirring restlessly within Viego's body. The enemies in front were on high alert, but even though Viego had clearly made a preparatory gesture to attack, no one made the first move. They seemed to be waiting for something.

Viego stood on the spot, making no further moves. It wasn't that he didn't want to move. It was that he found he couldn't move.

The Ruination in his body was stirring, the Black Mist surging like ocean waves, as if in the next moment, some terrifying thing would reveal its true form from within.

Some… something… is… is coming out!

Fck me, why couldn't it come out earlier or later? Why did it have to get stuck and come out at a tense moment like this, right before a fight??? Are you playing an edging challenge with me, bro?!*

Thank goodness those idiots on the other side aren't moving either. Villains really do die from talking too much…

The next moment, a man who looked like an officer walked out from the ranks in front of Viego. His face was stern. He looked at Viego and said, "Although it's highly unlikely you'll accept, the General greatly appreciates your abilities. Especially you—" He pointed at Viego, his eyes holding a condescending admiration, his tone flat, as if a superior addressing a subordinate. "So, I will still give you one more chance. Surrender to us, be of use to the General, and you can live. Otherwise, you and the two mercenaries behind you have only one path—death."

Viego was silent. The Ruination in his body was being consumed at a rapid pace, and in exchange, the feeling of something about to erupt from his body grew stronger and stronger.

Damn it, something strange isn't going to crawl out of my body, is it? If I give birth on the spot in front of so many people, my isekai life will surely end prematurely…!!!

The officer in front was still rambling on, but Viego no longer had the mind to pay attention to the content of his words.

Because…

It's coming out, it's coming out!!

Viego tried his best to hold it back, but the feeling was completely out of his control, like the sudden surge of diarrhea, or the peak of a deep tissue massage reaching its most satisfying point…

In the next instant, a sky-blotting Black Mist exploded out with Viego at its center, spreading explosively. It enveloped the entire ruin, making the environment dim, cold, and eerie. There seemed to be faint whispers by his ear, like the low murmurs of countless ghosts and spirits before their death.

The usually cold expression on Ines's face showed a rare fluctuation. She stared wide-eyed, and W, who had her hand on her shoulder, could even feel her body trembling. Ines's pupils lit up with a faint glow, but in the next instant, she shut her eyes tightly as if they had been pierced by the dazzling sun, and clear, physiological tears uncontrollably slid from the corners of her eyes.

"Something is coming… no, that's not right… it's more than that. There's another person… someone else is here…!"

This was the first time W had seen Ines so flustered, even somewhat incoherent.

"Hey, Ines, calm down!" She grabbed Ines's arm, looking at the Black Mist that was already gradually dissipating and becoming thinner. Viego's figure gradually became visible in their sight.

W also stared wide-eyed. On her face, which was always smiling, for the first time, an expression of shock appeared.

It wasn't just because of the ornate, ghostly green longsword that had suddenly appeared in Viego's hand.

It was also because of the slender, white-haired Sarkaz woman standing in front of Viego, facing him.
