Chapter 38:
Chapter 38: Three Days Until the Wedding:
Tang Xiaofu’s father said, “Your mother is right! And I think the same way!”
“That guy who’s threatening you to date him? Just tell him to get lost!”
“If he dares to bother you again, let me know. I’ll teach him a lesson!”
After speaking, Tang Xiaofu’s father flexed his arm to show off his muscles.
For a moment, Tang Xiaofu felt that her parents’ gazes were so gentle yet firm. Her eyes welled up, and she almost burst into tears.
Yes, no matter what confusion or grievances one faces outside, parents would always be their solid support.
Tang Xiaofu felt enlightened.
She had been too focused on wanting her mother’s leg to heal, and that allowed Ye Chen’s words to disturb her mind.
But even without that jerk Ye Chen’s so-called medical skills, wouldn’t her family still be happy?
The three of them were working together toward a common goal, so why should they be subjected to Ye Chen’s threats?
She had already gotten into Nanjiang University, and now she just needed to study hard and work diligently after graduation.
She was determined to earn a lot of money!
Then she would take her mother to a bigger hospital for treatment, and buy a bigger house for her family.
She also wanted to stand beside that person she admired without feeling inferior.
So, when Tang Xiaofu returned to school and Ye Chen asked her how she had thought about his offer, she had only one word for him:
“Get lost!”
…
Time flew by.
After more than a month, Chen Lang was back in the same high-end private hospital room where he had woken up after the car accident.
But this time, Cheng Jinjin was removing his cast.
As he watched Cheng Jinjin’s gentle and meticulous actions, which were much less rough than before, Chen Lang secretly grumbled to himself, “Why has Cheng Jinjin suddenly become so gentle? I bet she’s fallen into the warm embrace of the protagonist, Ye Chen, which has awakened her feminine nature. That’s why she’s changed from her usual clumsy ways to being all soft and proper.”
What Chen Lang didn’t know was that the reason Cheng Jinjin’s methods were less rough this time was that she was convinced that Chen Lang would definitely marry Xiao Mingyue.
She figured that causing any trouble with Chen Lang now would make it awkward to visit her best friend’s house for free meals later on.
Cheng Jinjin had originally thought that Xiao Mingyue would strongly oppose the marriage, but with only three days left until the wedding and even the Cheng family receiving invitations, there hadn’t been any sign of resistance from Xiao Mingyue.
As an outsider, Cheng Jinjin could see things clearly.
The idea that Xiao Mingyue would run away from the wedding, as mentioned in Chen Lang’s journal, seemed nearly impossible to her.
Xiao Mingyue wasn’t the kind of person to act impulsively without thinking.
There was no way she would risk putting the entire Xiao family in jeopardy in such a situation.
Moreover, Cheng Jinjin had noticed that Xiao Mingyue had already identified the mole in her company shortly after Chen Lang’s journal hinted at the truth.
So Cheng Jinjin was convinced that Xiao Mingyue must have a copy of Chen Lang’s diary, and it was possible that all the female leads did too.
The thought that the plot wouldn’t unfold as Chen Lang expected made Cheng Jinjin feel amused.
She wondered if Chen Lang would be surprised when the time came.
“Young Master Chen is going to be a groom, huh? You’ll soon be bringing Mingyue home. Congratulations, congratulations!” Cheng Jinjin teased while removing the cast.
Chen Lang didn’t take it seriously.
Bring Mingyue home? More like watching Mingyue slip away!
Still, it had only been a few days since he last saw her, and Cheng Jinjin’s figure under her uniform seemed even more enticing.
“Jinjin, you’ll be Mingyue’s bridesmaid that day, right?”
“Of course! Mingyue and I are best friends, so naturally, I’ll be her bridesmaid!”
“Remember not to wear a dress with too low a neckline that day.”
“Why do you say that?”
“Because you wouldn’t want to steal the spotlight from my dear Mingyue!”
Cheng Jinjin was taken aback, then burst into laughter.
“Don’t bother trying to win me over; it won’t work! If you and Mingyue have a fight in the future, I’ll still side with her!”
“But if you two ever have any leftovers from whatever you cook, don’t forget to call me.”
“Why don’t you just move in with Mingyue and me? My villa is big, and there are plenty of rooms.”
“You and Xiao Mingyue can enjoy your lovey-dovey moments. Why would a single person like me want to tag along and eat dog food?”
“No, it’s just that my kitchen has rice, flour, and vegetables, but it’s missing a chef…”
“Ugh, get lost!”
“Come on, you’re so good with a scalpel; you must be great at chopping vegetables too…”
As Cheng Jinjin and Chen Lang chatted and joked, she continued removing the cast.
After she finished, Cheng Jinjin checked his injury.
“Chen Lang, you’ve recovered really quickly! You’re completely healed now!”
Of course, he had been fine for a while. He just wanted to stretch his vacation a bit longer, or who would still be wearing this cast?
“It’s all thanks to my longing for Mingyue that pushed me to recover quickly!”
“Congratulations, groom. See you at the wedding.”
After bidding farewell to Cheng Jinjin and leaving the hospital, Chen Lang grumbled to himself.
Just wait until the wedding. They would all get to witness Ye Chen showing off, humiliating him, and running away with the bride!
In the glow of the sunset, butler Xiao Zhang drove the sports car out of the hospital parking lot.
Chen Lang sat in the passenger seat, lowering the window to let the evening breeze blow through his hair. He mentally rehearsed the plot for the wedding in three days.
As they were about to leave the hospital, Chen Lang suddenly noticed a graceful figure standing quietly in the distance.
She was standing beside a flowerbed, gazing quietly as if she was waiting for something.
Her silhouette had the unique slenderness and elegance of a young girl.
The setting sun cast its golden light on her unadorned features, infusing them with an endless sense of tranquility and beauty.
Even the flowers in the flowerbed before her seemed to lose their brightness in comparison.
Chen Lang stopped the car in front of Tang Xiaofu, leaned out of the window, and whistled.
“Hey, beauty, are you waiting for me?”
