Villain Ch 1087. A Bird In A Cage [Part 4]

And just as he promised, the pain began to subside, but not before the siren's wings—her broken, useless wings—were replaced with something entirely new. As the light faded, she could feel the weight of them, unfamiliar yet powerful. She opened her eyes, blinking in disbelief as she looked over her shoulder.

Her wings were no longer the fragile, delicate things they once were. Instead, they were dark and lethal, made of sharp, gleaming feathers that looked like blades. They spread wide, casting a shadow over the entire pavilion. These wings weren't for flight alone—they were weapons.

The siren gasped in shock, her hand reaching back to touch her new wings. She could feel the strength in them. She flexed them experimentally, and with each movement, the feathers gleamed, reflecting the dark power she now possessed.

The real Shea stared in stunned silence. The wings that the siren had just been given… they were the same as her own.

"Those are my wings…" Shea whispered, her voice barely audible. "The developer surely has given a good backstory. Even for something as detailed as this."

Larissa gave a low whistle. "Looks like we just witnessed the birth of your power, Shea."

The siren, still in shock, moved her wings again, marveling at their deadly beauty. She turned to the Devil Emperor, her expression torn between awe and gratitude, though fear still lingered in her eyes. "These… these wings… I…"

The Devil Emperor smiled, but it was not a comforting smile. It was the smile of someone who had just created something dangerous, something meant to be unleashed upon the world. "Now, no one can trap you or force you to sing again," he said softly, his voice dripping with satisfaction. "You are no longer a prisoner. You are free."

The siren stared at him, her eyes wide and filled with a strange mixture of emotions. She felt stronger than ever before, but the price of her newfound power weighed heavily on her. The pain of betrayal still lingered in her heart, but now it was twisted with something darker.

Vengeance.

Anger.

The Devil Emperor seemed to sense this and leaned closer, his voice a dark caress. "What will you do with your freedom, little bird?" he asked, lifting her chin with his hand. "Will you seek out the knight who betrayed you? Will you sing your song of vengeance to those who wronged you?"

The siren's eyes flickered with a dangerous light. "I will… find him," she whispered. "I will make him pay."

The Devil Emperor's smirk widened. "Good. Very good." He took a step back, admiring his handiwork. "Then go. Spread your wings, my siren. Let the world hear your song of vengeance."

The siren's eyes, still filled with the raw pain of betrayal, began to shift. Her grief was no longer just sadness; it was rage, sharpened and honed by the power the Devil Emperor had bestowed upon her. The new wings on her back, dark and lethal, felt like an extension of her anger—a weapon she was now willing to use.

"But, what if I can't find him?" she asked softly, almost as if she feared the answer.

The Devil Emperor tilted his head, his expression softening, though his eyes gleamed with hidden malice. "You will find him," he whispered, his voice a dark promise. "And when you do, you will make him regret every moment he ever lied to you. You will make him beg for mercy. And when he does…" He leaned in closer, his breath hot against her skin. "You will show him none."

The siren's breath hitched. The anger inside her flared hotter, fueled by the Devil Emperor's words. She wanted nothing more than to confront the knight who had betrayed her, to tear him apart for what he had done. But another flicker of doubt crossed her face. "But what if... what if he loved me once?" she whispered, her voice breaking.

"What if it wasn't all a lie?"

The Devil Emperor's expression hardened for just a moment, before his smirk returned, more sinister than before. "Love?" he sneered, his tone dripping with mockery. "Love is a lie, my dear. It is a weakness. He never loved you. He only wanted to control you, to clip your wings and cage you like a pretty little pet."

He circled her slowly, his voice soft and intoxicating, wrapping around her like a dark spell. "But you—you are more than that. You are power. You are beauty beyond human understanding. And now, you are mine."

The Devil Emperor's words had cut through her doubts, leaving only the cold certainty of her vengeance. She nodded slowly, her lips pressing into a thin line. "I am yours," she whispered, her voice steady now. "I will serve you… and destroy him."

The Devil Emperor smiled, his eyes glowing with satisfaction. "That's my girl."

With a snap of his fingers, both the siren and the Devil Emperor were engulfed in a swirling mass of dark energy. His dark laughter filled the pavilion as they disappeared.

The world around them trembled, as if the very foundation of the monastery was reacting to the curse that had taken root there. Stones began to crack, and the walls shook, but it wasn't real—it was all part of the memory.

The scene played out before Allen and the others, the dark magic spreading through the monastery. The dead, once silent, began to stir again. Corpses rose from the ground, their mouths open in silent screams as they clawed their way back into the twisted remnants of life.

Zorath, now in his undead form, stumbled to his feet, his decayed body grasping for the whip that had once been his weapon. He began swinging it wildly in madness, repeating the same words he had spoken in life. "Stop singing! The ceremony hasn't started yet!"

Then, as suddenly as it had begun, the vision started to fade. The pavilion grew quiet. The haunting melody that had echoed through the monastery was gone. Only silence remained.
