Chapter 856: Punishment For Lazy People!
Villain Ch 856. Punishment For Lazy People!
Allen: I know. I haven't been to the gym for like a week. My muscles feel stiff.
Gerry: Ha! That's a punishment for lazy people! You need to be consistent, man!
Allen: In my defense, I was busy moving. Since everything has settled, I want to return to my normal activities.
Gerry: Nice! 8 AM as usual, okay? Don't be late!
Allen: Got it!
Allen had just put his phone to his side when it buzzed again with another message from Gerry. He picked it up, curiosity piqued.
Gerry: Oh right. I forgot to tell you. Sophia approached me last time at the gym. But she didn't ask about you. This is very strange.
Allen frowned, sitting up slightly. He quickly typed a response.
Allen: What did she say?
Gerry: All her questions related to the gym. Like what kind of gym equipment she should use and how many sets she should do.
Allen: And you answered her?
Gerry: Yeah. There's no way I bark at her or ignore her. She asked me nicely.
Allen stared at his phone, his mind racing. Sophia had approached Gerry, but not to ask about him. It seemed out of character. He decided to probe a bit further.
Allen: Did she seem... off to you?
Gerry: Not really. She was polite, almost... earnest? It's weird, man. She's never struck me as someone interested in genuine fitness advice.
Allen mulled over Gerry's words. Sophia's actions were perplexing. He raised one of his eyebrows, a skeptical look crossing his face. "I guess she really wants to expand her webs without showing it's for me," he muttered under his breath.
He quickly typed out his response to Gerry.
Allen: Okay, thanks for the info then.
Gerry: No problem, man. Just keep your guard up. See you tomorrow at 8.
Allen: Sure thing. See you tomorrow!
Allen lowered his phone and placed it on the side table, the soft click of the device against the wood barely registering in his mind. His eyes were fixed on the ceiling of his room, the familiar patterns doing little to distract him from the whirlwind of thoughts racing through his head. He took a deep breath, trying to center himself amid the chaos that seemed to permeate every corner of his life.
"I know you hate this, Allen. But you need to sort this out one by one. Sophia first, then your family, okay?" he reminded himself, his voice barely a whisper in the stillness of the room. He closed his eyes, willing his mind to quiet down, to let him find a moment of peace.
The past few weeks had been a whirlwind. Moving into the Goldborne mansion, adjusting to his new status, and now dealing with Sophia's manipulations—it was overwhelming. His once simple life had become a complex web of responsibilities and emotional entanglements, each demanding his attention in ways he hadn't anticipated.
'I hope I don't get a nightmare tonight…' he prayed.
Allen's eyes eventually drifted shut, the weight of the day's events finally pulling him into a deep sleep. For the first time in a while, his sleep was peaceful. The usual nightmares that haunted him were absent, replaced by a vague sense of comfort and calm. His mind wandered through pleasant scenes, though they remained just out of reach of his conscious memory.
A sudden, shrill ringtone shattered the tranquility, jerking Allen from his slumber. He grunted, still heavy with sleep, the abruptness of the sound leaving him disoriented. His heart pounded as he struggled to shake off the remnants of his dream, which had been warm and soothing but was now quickly fading into the recesses of his mind.
Groggily, he reached out, fumbling for his phone on the side table. His fingers brushed against the smooth surface, and he grasped it, squinting at the bright screen.
Allen answered the call with a sleepy, mumbled "Hello," not bothering to open his eyes. His voice was thick with the remnants of a deep sleep.
"Allen!" Gerry's voice boomed through the speaker, startling Allen. "It's already 9 o'clock in the morning! Where are you?"
Allen's eyes flew open in surprise, his heart racing. He quickly checked the clock on his phone, only to discover it was actually 7:11 AM. He groaned, frustration bubbling up as he realized he'd been duped again. Gerry had a knack for pulling this particular prank, knowing that Allen was easily panicked and gullible when he was half-asleep.
"Gerry, can you stop that? It's not funny," Allen said, his voice edged with irritation.
Gerry laughed heartily on the other end of the line. "Sorry, man. I couldn't resist. You know how you are when you're sleepy. It's just too easy!"
Allen sighed, rubbing his eyes and trying to shake off the lingering sleepiness. "Yeah, yeah, I know. But seriously, you need to find a new trick."
"Maybe," Gerry replied, still chuckling. "Anyway, I wanted to make sure you're up and ready for the gym. We're still on for 8, right?" Read latest chapters at My Virtual Library Empire
Allen swung his legs over the side of the bed, stretching his arms above his head. "Yeah, we're still on. I'll be there. Just give me a few minutes to fully wake up."
"Good. I'll see you soon then," Gerry said, his tone returning to normal. "And sorry again for the prank. I just couldn't help myself."
Allen rolled his eyes, a small smile playing on his lips despite his annoyance. "It's fine. I'll see you at the gym."
He hung up the phone and set it back on the side table. Allen took a moment to collect himself, the initial rush of adrenaline from Gerry's prank fading away. He let out a deep breath, his mind now fully awake and alert.
The room was quiet, the early morning light filtering through the curtains, casting soft shadows on the walls. Allen stood up, his muscles still a bit stiff from sleep, and made his way to the bathroom. He splashed cold water on his face, the shock of it helping to clear the last remnants of sleep from his mind.
