Wandering Through Horror land

Chapter 49: ZombieLand (Part 9)

"Stop here," Logan said as he and Nora hung off the side of the caddy. The group had gotten too big and, as such, needed another set of wheels. So, the group decided, based on Logan's suggestion, to drive around the deserted town to see if they could find a ride. Lo and behold, they found a bright yellow Jeep just waiting to be taken. This of course just so happen to be the same one that held a shit ton of fire power in the back, and rather nice leather seats.

"Mighty fucking find" chuckled Tally as he looked at the multitude of weapons. Logan nodded as he and the few others looked through the pile for anything they liked. Logan abstained, as he already had a primary and secondary weapon. Akane and Leah, however, were mostly rocking pistols and decided to grab a new primary. An AR-15 for Akane, and two Uzis for Leah. Nora/Orlando decided to abstain with a calm expression, only Logan knew why at this point and time. Tally found a Desert Eagle, which he immediately loaded and fired off at a wooden power line in the distance. Said power line now had a sizable chunk ripped off of it.

"Oh my god!" Tallahassee said with passion as he raised the gun to his nose and inhaled the fresh gunpowder. Crying he nodded, "Thank you, you beautiful redneck gods, next zombie I kill with be with this beauty right here *Sniff*" Nora smirked her brothers usual playful nature as said brother started to pose and aim with the big hand gun. When she heard an "amen" next to her, she turned to see Akane. Her head was bowed low, seemingly adding her prayer to Tally's pledge. The cultivator raised a brow before sighing and walking away with a smile.

"Yep, just know this is going to be such a fun time," Nora mumbled lower than anyone could hear. As the camera panned over to Columbus, one would see his best attempt to console the still pissed off and embarrassed girls. Logan, seeing the nerd still holding onto the outdated double-barreled shotgun and not taking the chance to upgrade to something better, walked over and forcefully grabbed the double-barreled and gave him a combat shotgun that was in the bag.

"No, that's okay, I really just need," he started before petering off as Logan just gave him a hard stare while holding out the shotgun that held more than two rounds. Silently, he took the gun from the bigger man, making Logan nod before looking at the two grifters. They tried to give him the same death glare they gave Akane, but his gaze made them shiver in a cold sweat instead. With a look that was both as cold and sharp as hardened steel, Logan pinned the two as he leaned over the pair.

"From what I hear, you threatened my wife?" He questioned as he loomed over the two sitting girls. Shaking their heads, they started to speak when Columbus moved himself between Logan and the girls.

"No, no, just me and Tallahassee," Columbus said as he did his best to stand as tall as he could in front of the larger man. Logan, for his part, just stared down at the nerd before looking at the two grifters again, who were nodding along to what Columbus had said. "If anything," the college boy continued, " I'd say that she was more the aggressor in the situation. So, you know..." he petered off again as Logan fully looked down at him with a raised brow.

"She put her gun in my sister's mouth," Little Rock said with a frown as Logan locked eyes with her. Wichita seeing her sister start to badmouth Logan's apparent wife, the crazy bitch that she was, pinched the younger girls leg in hopes of making her stop. Unfortunately for her, Little Rock grew bold seeing Columbus defend them, thus thinking she was safe to talk back. "She threatened to end me and wait until my sister fully suffered before ending her," she continued as Wichita shook her head, trying to start damage control with the brick wall of a man in front of the three.

"Look, don't listen to her, she's just mad about the revenge your wife took on us," Wichita said. "Which is fucking justified" she thought silently, "but we did threaten to kill your two friends so everything is fair now yeah?" she said with a wave to the markings and bold forehead words. Logan looked at the two a bit longer, making Wichita sweat slightly, before finally seeing Logan sigh and shake his head, before looking over to Akane.

His wife, at the moment, seemed to be messing with Leah and Tallahassee with the two severed hands that were attached to the steering wheel of the new yellow Humvee. Like a five-year-old old she was chasing the two grown adults, trying to touch them with the severed hands. Both adults were laughing like two other five-year-olds in a rather morbid showing of tomfoolery in the bleak world that everyone lives in now. Nora, for her part, was simply holding out Akane's phone, filming the play with a smirk that told of nostalgia. As if she in her past life enjoyed such a strange, tender moment, much like this.

"Akane is likely going to love her stories more than I will." Logan thought before looking back at the two grifters.

"Sorry," he said with a small frown as he looked at the two bold words of mockery labeled on both of their foreheads. "She can be very protective of those she holds as friends, and those she doesn't...Well, I guess you got a taste of what that would be." Both girls shivered at the recent memory that played at his words, Wichita still tasting the gunpowder on her tongue. "If it helps, she doesn't hold ill will like most would. It's why she did what she did to you. Think of it as getting it out of her system instead of holding in a grudge to be paid for later."

Eyes going wide, the two grifters thought about the level of humiliation they went through for something that would allow the small woman's rage to cool off, and imagining what she would have done if she did hold a grudge, or worse, killed one of the men. Realizing that they got the better end of the deal, they both silently thanked whatever demonic presence still ruled over this forsaken land for not shooting one of the two men before they met her. Coming back to the present moment, as the world around them got darker, they saw that Yellowtone was leaning over their open door, looking at the two deeply. Columbus was also engulfed, too thin and small to stop the bigger man from simply pushing him out of the way. Seeing the steel back in the man's eyes, the grifter sisters gulped as he continued.

"Still, as her husband, I'm going to have to recommend that you throw away any grudge you built up over the humiliation she dealt you, as retaliation isn't just going to be on her part as much as it is on mine. Due know that I don't want to hurt two girls who seemed to be fairly mistrusting in this fucked up world of ours, but I can assure you that I won't make a joke about it if it comes to pass. Are we clear?" he said with a deep rumble. Again, the two girls nodded quickly at his question and then sighed in relief when he nodded and smiled before walking away, pulling Columbus along with him as they planned who would go in which car.

"Man, that guy is just..." Wichita started to say.

"Scary/Hot," both sisters said at the same time, before Little Rock looked at Wichita with a frown. "What!? You'll understand when you're older," Wichita mumbled out while looking away from her younger sister. "If only he weren't fucking the black haired psychos" she mumbled even softer.

With the seating arrangement finished, the group was back on the move. The original cast in the caddy, and the interlopers, including Nora plus Buck, in the Humvee. The direction, however, made Nora frown as she said in the back next to Bucks' booster seat.

"I'm sorry, but why are we headed back through Texas?" She asked the air more than anyone in the car as Logan drove behind Tally. For some reason, the group was heading in that direction without her ever asking why.

"Because that's where the story is headed, and because Columbus thought we might do the two girls a favor after humiliating them so badly," Leah answered. Logan and Akane both snorted in the front seats while the short woman was loading a few more clips for her AR-15.

"Yep, kids a bleeding hearts, and honestly, as you know, there isn't anything for Columbus, in...Columbus, which is probably being told to the boy as we speak," Akane said off-handedly. Logan and Nora had filled in the two about their conversation after piling into the car, Buck unaware as he was watching Pocahontas at the moment. She wasn't surprised by Logan's flip from wary threat to flirty nature with the woman. He had done his damndest to "Find his chi" or whatever, every damn day of his life before all this fun happened.

To finally have the real deal in front of him? Willing to teach him? She had already added Nora mentally to the harem going forward, ever since she got a little wet after feeling the threat from the woman. Now she was just happy to see Logan had taken the initiative for once to add a woman.

"And Tally agreed? After having his own damn gun pressed against his back?" Nora questioned more.

"After what we did to the girl as revenge for that? Do you think he would be that mad anymore?" Akane questioned back. Nora blinked for a second before snorting and nodding her head.

"Yeah, I guess he would say everyone was even Steven at that point," Nora said off-hand. "But Tally and I were heading to see if our parents were still alive back in Tallahassee, to just turn around like that?" Nora chimed in again, making Leah look at her with a raised brow.

"Really? Nora, your brother is taking his time and stopping for Twinkies," the darker-skinned girl said. Nora opened her mouth to defend him when she realized what she was getting at. Sighing, she frowned as she looked out the window.

"Fine, yes, we were mostly just wandering with the very slim hope that our very old parents were still alive." Looking over to Buck, the blonde smiled and brushed his hair, earning a smile from the boy before he was engrossed with his movie again. "It's good to have a goal in life, then to truly wander, you know?"

"Oh, we do," Akane said as she smiled to herself. Nora snorted as she chuckled at the woman riding shotgun.

"Yes, yes, your harem," Nora chuckled. "Not the first time I've seen one on such a path. Many a young cultivator made it their goal to collect jade beauties, and I nearly was one of them quite a few times. Though I will say that seeing a woman collecting women for both herself and her husband is a rather rare sight." Shifting her gaze, Nora saw Logan gazing at her from the backseat and smiled as she winked at him. "Though they were always the most fun when I indulged in my lustful nature."

"Ohh~" Akane sang as she giggled in the front seat. "You have to tell us your slutty past girl. All those cultivation books Logan reads were so focused on training and shit. Never once told a tale of a guy railing a girl through a fucking mountain, which must have happened at some point." Nora nodded with a blush as she held her hand up.

"Guilty, though I was the one riding him through the mountain while his wife watched from the sky in self-pleasure." Akane shifted to look back at the blonde with a Cheshire grin.

"Oh, I can't wait to get you in bed," Akane said, making Nora show her a wolfish grin. Looking over to Buck and seeing him still engrossed, she leaned in to whisper conspiratorially. "Careful what you wish for," she said with a look in her eyes that made Akane shiver again.

Columbus looked out at the pitch-black night from the Cadillac's window as he silently mourned the loss of his parents. It wasn't too long into the drive to California when Wichita broke the news to him. Columbus, his birth city, his childhood home, his distant but still loving parents, all gone. Lost to the hell that was Zombieland. One would think the young man was spiraling as he now had no home to go back to. Yet the true tragedy was that he was more broken up about being lost, now that he didn't have a goal in this hell world. Wichita had made an effort when she realized she fucked up. Offering apologies and help if he wanted to find a ride to see for himself.

Tally just looked sad but stayed silent as he drove, not seeing a need to double up on similar thought of helping the little spit fuck. After the offer, they had left him to mourn silently, even leaving him a shot shotgun when Wichita and Tally traded off during a pitstop. When they did, Tally broke the news to the other car. This made Yellowstone, Salem, Orlando, and Big Valley offer their knowing sadness and condolences, showing just how truly everyone in this new world was an orphan now.

"Thank you," Wichita said, making him look over to the girl behind the wheel. "For taking us to Pacific Playland after holding you at gunpoint."

"It's fine, least we could do" Columbus said as he looked up at the now slightly obscured words of CUMSLUT. Wichita and her sister had shifted their hair to hide the words as best they could now that the joke was done with. Wichita looked at Columbus in mocking mirth as, while humiliated, she did not consider body graffiti a worse thing than threatening to shoot someone. Still, she wasn't going to look the gift horse, that was a young man convincing the group to head back through Texas, in the mouth.

"Well, thank you still" she said again. Looking back at her sleeping sister in the backseat, she sighed. "I know this Pacific Playland thing is nuts," she said after seeing Columbus give her a worried look at her sigh. "But it's just been so long since she got to be a kid."

"Yeah, it's tough growing up in Zombieland," Columbus said with a nod.

"It's tough growing up," Wichita answered as her shitty home life flashed before her eyes. Shaking her head as the car's headlights caught what seemed to be a working truck, she stopped the Caddie. The Humvee stopped as well, but no one got out to see what was up. "Look, you can take that truck if you want to see if anyone made it out of Columbus. He looked at the car and then at her before nodding and taking off his seatbelt. Yet, as he popped the car door open and started to get out, she said something that made him stop. "And when you do find whoever you're looking for, don't let them go," she said with a knowing smile as she looked back at her sister again.

Columbus, frozen at the moment as her words played in his head, realized that he was about to make the dumbest decision of his life. He knew there was no one left for him in his home city, and hoping for a miracle just wasn't something one did in Zombieland. Yet here was someone who could be a future. Someone he could make a new life with. Seeing his pause, Wichita looked over at him in an expression of curiosity. Not breaking eye contact, he closed the door and got comfortable in his seat before casually clicking his seatbelt closed around him. She smiled at his decision and soon enough started to drive off with the Humvee picking up behind them.

Panning the camera from Columbus and Wichita over to the front seat of the Humvee, one would see Akane and Nora watching the byplay through the back window of the caddy.

"Jesus Christ, he wants to fuck her" Nora stated. With Akane nodding along next to her.

"He really does," she said in confirmation as both cars drove into the night.
