Chapter 119: Chapter 119: Tony's Reasoning
But that was just a hypothesis—how had it become reality for Dr. Selvig?
"Rainbows... Einstein-Rosen bridges are absolutely possible, and we can use energy to open channels to accomplish this," Thor explained.
The Rainbow Bridge in Asgard worked on this principle, using powerful energy to open pathways for rapid movement through space.
Hearing Thor's answer, Tony tossed the documents onto the table and reclined on the sofa, studying him.
"In theory, it might be possible, but how much energy would be required, and in what form would that energy need to be? Can you answer those questions?"
Using energy to open channels was easy to talk about, but actually creating spatial jumps couldn't be solved with a simple explanation.
Faced with Tony's inquiry, Thor fell silent. The creation process for the Rainbow Bridge was incredibly complex—even in Asgard, it couldn't be easily replicated.
Seeing Thor's reluctance to continue, Tony turned his attention back to Dr. Selvig.
"Although the theories in your proposal are difficult to realize, I've decided to fund your research. I hope you can complete the work outlined here."
These theories were genuinely intriguing. If the research proved successful, humanity could truly begin exploring the universe.
As majority shareholder and Chairman of Stark Industries, Tony wouldn't miss this opportunity for potential profit.
Seeing that Tony had decided to fund their astronomical research, Dr. Selvig clenched his fists excitedly. Now they wouldn't have to cobble together research equipment themselves as they had in the past.
And all of this could be attributed to Thor. After all, the definitive theories in their materials had come directly from him.
While they were celebrating, Happy walked in carrying a large chunk of beef.
"A few people dressed in medieval costumes just arrived in town. They look like Vikings. Is there some kind of costume party happening?"
The outfits these people wore were truly old-fashioned, especially the large man who resembled a Nordic Viking raider.
These words stunned Thor and the others. They had already accepted Thor's claims and knew he was indeed the god of thunder from Asgard.
This aligned perfectly with Norse mythology, which was most widely spread by the barbaric Vikings of Northern Europe.
Thor suddenly seemed to realize something and rushed outside, leaving Happy looking confused.
What was that about?
After placing the steak in the refrigerator, Happy sat on the sofa beside Marcus.
"Why have you been so interested in children's books about Norse mythology lately?"
Recently, Marcus had been carrying a book of Norse mythology everywhere, occasionally laughing at certain passages.
"Obviously because of our friend Thor!"
Glancing at the curious Happy, Marcus smiled and pointed to an illustration of Mjolnir in the book.
"Does this pattern look similar to the one on that hammer they found?"
"You're right—these patterns are really similar."
Happy examined the hammer illustration. Though the overall shape wasn't identical to the real hammer, the patterns etched on it were remarkably similar.
This caught Tony's attention, and he walked over to take the Norse mythology book from Marcus.
The pattern on the illustrated hammer did indeed match the hammer Coulson was guarding, especially the clover-like logo in the center, which was particularly distinctive.
"A strong electromagnetic field that attracts lightning, and it's so heavy no one can lift it... This can't actually be a divine weapon, right?" Tony muttered to himself. Suddenly, he clapped his hands as if struck by revelation. "Wait—that guy really is Thor!"
Now everything connected: Thor and his hammer Mjolnir from Norse mythology.
"I get it now! The so-called 'gods' are just aliens who happen to look like humans!"
Tony believed he had figured everything out—Thor was simply an alien with an advanced weapon.
The hammer wasn't actually heavy; it must use some kind of alien technology to firmly anchor itself to the ground using the strong electromagnetic field it continuously emitted.
As the hammer's owner, Thor naturally had the authority to wield it, which explained why the sky filled with dark clouds and lightning when he approached.
Something must have malfunctioned with the hammer, preventing Thor from picking it up.
Tony's reasoning was remarkably close to the truth.
His only mistake was that Thor truly was a god, with a life force far beyond ordinary humans.
Whether in lifespan or physical capabilities, he completely outclassed humans.
Unless attacked with specialized weapons, Thor with his divine power restored would be a superhuman powerhouse even without Mjolnir.
"No wonder! No wonder that guy insisted the Einstein-Rosen Bridge is real. It seems my investment decision was correct!"
Given what they now knew, Thor's claims were likely true. The Rainbow Bridge connecting the Nine Realms was an Einstein-Rosen Bridge created through energy manipulation.
Considering this, Tony looked back at Dr. Selvig and his team.
"Regarding your research, I'm increasing my investment. As long as our Viking friend is telling the truth, this research has tremendous potential."
Receiving Tony's renewed assurance, Dr. Selvig and his colleagues felt like they were dreaming. They'd secured funding so easily, and according to Tony, he would continue supporting their research.
This brought them immense joy—not long ago, they'd been driving a beat-up car to find places for astronomical observations.
While they were celebrating, Thor walked in with four people dressed in ancient-looking attire.
"Let me introduce you to my best friends—"
Before he could finish, Marcus interrupted him.
"Let me guess," he rose from the sofa and looked at the four newcomers. "Lady Sif and the Warriors Three of Asgard, correct?"
Marcus's words stunned Thor. He had only revealed his identity to Selvig and the others, so how could Marcus know?
"Surprised, Thor?" Marcus picked up the Norse mythology book and smiled. "Tony has already figured out your identity, and naturally, I have too."
Seeing that Marcus had spoken so openly, Thor no longer attempted to hide the truth and nodded immediately.
He didn't care about revealing his identity. He'd been telling everyone he was from Asgard, but no one had believed him.
"That's right, they came from Asgard, as did I. I am Thor, the god of thunder in your mythology books.
A fool who nearly caused a war between two worlds because of his recklessness, and even caused his own father's death."
He recalled Loki's words—his father was dead, and now Thor had no intention of returning to Asgard. Even if his exile were revoked, he would remain in self-imposed exile on Earth.
"Wait, who said the All-Father is dead? His Majesty has merely entered the Odinsleep. Loki is currently acting as king of Asgard!"
Fandral, the most elegant of the Warriors Three, looked confused. Where had Thor heard such a rumor?
