Warframe Voidwalker : Multiverse Journey

Chapter 74: Chapter 74: Sentinel Showdown

After returning to the void, Marcus looked at the closed rift behind him.

"I wonder what will happen when we meet next time."

After this thought, he reached out to the worlds around him, skipping past those he had already recorded, and searched for one with strong energy fluctuations. Finding it, he opened a void rift.

On the other side was a quiet mountain range.

"Where is this place?"

Marcus stepped through the rift and looked around in confusion. The area was deserted, giving no clue as to where he had appeared.

After walking for a while, he spotted a red light in the distance.

"If I'm not mistaken, that should be a spaceship... right?"

The red light came from a rectangular aircraft slowly flying toward him through the air.

With a frown, Marcus began to suspect which world he had entered.

Thud!

Something dropped from the sky. When it stood still, Marcus could see its appearance clearly.

"This thing... looks familiar."

It was obviously a robot. Though tall, its body was covered with tiny scales.

Just as he was pondering this, the robot suddenly threw a punch at him.

Ding!

An energy sword appeared in Marcus's hand, blocking the robot's fist.

"I remember now—isn't this a Sentinel robot?"

In his memory, only the Sentinels, the nemesis of mutants, looked like this—covered with tiny scales, able to switch combat modes and change their abilities on the fly.

Void energy surged wildly through his energy sword, fully activating it and illuminating the surroundings.

"Seems like I've arrived a bit late!"

As he spoke, Marcus swung his energy sword at the Sentinel robot.

Swish!

With a flash of blue light, the Sentinel's arm was sliced off instantly.

This surprised Marcus. He had been ready to transform into battle armor to deal with this threat, but the Sentinel's defense was much weaker than he'd expected.

The Sentinel wasn't faring well either. Its core computer was calculating furiously, constantly scanning Marcus and trying to copy the sword he wielded.

But no matter how it scanned or calculated, it couldn't replicate the power of the void.

After confirming it couldn't copy the ability, the Sentinel immediately connected to its network and contacted other Sentinels. They needed to eliminate this unpredictable threat.

The next moment, the rectangular aircraft opened its bay doors, and dozens of Sentinels flew out, heading straight for Marcus. They transformed mid-air, preparing various attacks.

"Heh, mutant abilities?"

Marcus laughed sarcastically as void energy surged throughout his body. In an instant, a fractured armor materialized around him.

Marcus, now transformed into Xaku [Void Reverberation], held his sword in one hand and calmly watched the barrage of mutant ability attacks heading his way.

"What a pity—these are useless against me!"

As he finished speaking, he activated Void Grip.

Large tendrils of void energy surged outward. Though they didn't snag any weapons, more than a dozen void orbs condensed around Marcus.

One after another, void rays shot out from these orbs, neutralizing all the attacks from the Sentinels.

Marcus didn't stop there. He raised his hand and pointed at several Sentinels.

As the fragments on his body floated upward, he activated his lost skill: Accusation.

A void rift opened beside the targeted Sentinels, and void energy poured out, enveloping them.

The next moment, the Sentinels engulfed by void energy turned around and rushed toward their fellow robots, attacking them.

Accusation affected not only living beings but even robots, causing them to switch allegiances and fight for Xaku [Void Reverberation].

In moments, the battlefield transformed. Void orbs surrounded Marcus, releasing destructive rays, while controlled Sentinels attacked their former allies.

The remaining Sentinels found themselves in a rare defensive position. This was the first time they had encountered such a situation.

It wasn't that they couldn't match the controlled Sentinels—they were made of the same materials and had the same capabilities.

The problem was the void rays continuously shooting from Marcus. These rays had a strange effect: once hit, all mutant abilities would disappear, leaving only basic mechanical functions. No matter how much they overclocked their processors, they couldn't activate any mutant-based attacks.

After unleashing these abilities one after another, Marcus turned his attention to the first Sentinel—the one missing an arm.

The damaged Sentinel approached Marcus. Though the scales on its body flipped wildly, it couldn't transform.

"Let's deal with you first."

Marcus stepped lightly, becoming a blur of motion. He instantly appeared behind the Sentinel and sliced it into pieces, scattering fragments across the ground.

Looking at the debris, an energy core caught his attention.

"Well, this is a pleasant surprise!"

He had almost forgotten that Sentinels were, at their core, robots—and robots naturally consume energy.

The power source that maintained a Sentinel's movement and combat abilities was substantial. Though one energy reactor couldn't provide enough to extract the Aya Stars, there were many Sentinels—they had to be numerous to hunt mutants worldwide.

If he could collect enough energy reactors, he could extract seven Aya Starss and even create new battle armor.

Realizing this, Marcus couldn't help but laugh.

"You're really quite valuable!"

Picking up the energy reactor, he looked up at the remaining Sentinels, which were dodging void rays while fighting their reprogrammed comrades.

"I don't have time to play with you. I need to find more of you."

He bent his knees slightly and leaped into the air. The next moment, he released Super-Dimensional Purgatory. Xaku's fractured armor began to disintegrate, exploding with a surge of void energy.

BOOM!!!

The void energy instantly enveloped the Sentinels. Some were destroyed outright by the powerful Super-Dimensional Purgatory. Others remained operational but had their mutant abilities suppressed by the void energy. Though they could still fly, they were reduced to using only their fists against the reprogrammed robots.

Looking at the Sentinels fighting in the air, Marcus raised his hand and pointed at them.

"Lost Skill: Deny!"

A torrent of void energy surged along his bone-like arms, then fired as a beam of light at the Sentinels.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

The void beam pierced through several Sentinels. One robot's energy reactor was hit directly, exploding and taking out all the surrounding Sentinels, sending them plummeting from the sky.

"Ha! The hunt has begun!"

Marcus laughed loudly as he sliced open the bodies of the fallen Sentinels, extracting all their energy reactors.

These reactors would be enough to extract the Aya Stars, but before that, he needed to investigate the aircraft. He remembered that these carriers were usually filled with captured mutants.
