We're Not Gods,Just Normal Family Trying to Live a Normal Life

Chapter 13: At least it wasn't

Back at the Son-Wu residence, the family settled in after their "eventful" day at the park. Xian Xue played with her dolls while Xian Long experimented with a small rock, infusing different elements into it just to see what would happen.

Li-Yan Mei watched her children with a resigned expression, sipping her tea. "You do realize that the entire city probably thinks a divine miracle happened today?"

Son-Wu San chuckled. "At least it wasn't another sect trying to test us."

Just as he spoke, a loud knock echoed at the door.

The family paused.

"Who could that be?" Xian Xue whispered.

Li-Yan Mei sighed. "I'll handle it." She stood up and gracefully walked to the entrance, opening the door to reveal a group of cultivators in formal robes. Their leader, an older man with streaks of silver in his hair, bowed respectfully.

"Lady Li-Yan Mei, Lord Son-Wu San," he greeted, his voice controlled yet tense. "We are representatives of the Celestial Inquiry Pavilion. May we request a moment of your time?"

Xian Long's eyes sparkled. "Ooh! Are you guys here to play?"

The cultivators stiffened. Play? With him? The stories of his "playtime" were the stuff of nightmares.

Li-Yan Mei smiled politely. "What is it you wish to inquire about?"

The older cultivator cleared his throat. "Regarding the recent… unusual spiritual fluctuations in the city."

Son-Wu San leaned back on the couch. "Ah. You mean my son's little accident?"

The cultivators exchanged glances. Little accident? They had been debating for hours whether a new divine beast lineage had emerged!

Li-Yan Mei stepped aside. "Come in. Let's talk."

---

The cultivators hesitantly entered, immediately overwhelmed by the sheer pressure of the space. Though nothing seemed out of the ordinary, the energy of the domain subtly suppressed them, making them feel as though they were tiny ants in the presence of an all-powerful existence.

One of the younger cultivators trembled, clutching a jade talisman to stabilize himself. "This place… it feels like an entire realm condensed into a single house…"

Son-Wu San smirked. "So, what exactly do you want to know?"

The leader steadied himself. "We are simply here to ensure that whatever occurred today was not a sign of an impending catastrophe."

Xian Xue giggled. "Nope! Just my brother playing with fish!"

Xian Long grinned. "They turned into dragons. It was really cool!"

The cultivators felt a collective headache coming. Turning regular fish into celestial beasts was something even ancient sects couldn't do easily.

"We… see," the leader said, forcing a smile. "And… is there any risk of similar incidents in the future?"

Son-Wu San shrugged. "Probably."

The cultivators froze.

Li-Yan Mei sighed. "What my husband means is that as long as no one disturbs our family, there will be no problems."

The leader quickly nodded. "Of course! We wouldn't dare—"

BOOM!

A massive pressure exploded outside the house, shaking the entire city. The cultivators paled.

"What was that?!"

Son-Wu San narrowed his eyes. "Trouble."

Xian Long clapped excitedly. "Ooh! Are we fighting? I wanna fight!"

Li-Yan Mei gave him a stern look. "Behave."

The family walked outside, followed by the trembling cultivators. High above, the sky had torn open, revealing a group of masked figures descending from a swirling rift. Their dark robes bore the insignia of the Nether Blood Sect, an infamous cult known for sacrificing entire cities to strengthen their elders.

One of the masked figures stepped forward, his voice echoing unnaturally. "So this is where the anomalies are coming from." His eyes locked onto Son-Wu San. "Hand over your secrets, and we may let your family live."

Son-Wu San blinked. Then he laughed.

The cultivators from the Celestial Inquiry Pavilion paled. Did they not know who they were threatening?

Xian Xue tilted her head. "Are they stupid?"

Xian Long cracked his knuckles. "Can I beat them up, Father?"

Son-Wu San sighed, rolling up his sleeves. "Go ahead. But don't destroy the entire city."

The masked figures scoffed. "A mere child dares—"

Before he could finish, Xian Long vanished. A split second later, the lead attacker was sent flying, crashing through three mountains in the distance.

Silence.

The remaining masked figures stood frozen, their minds failing to comprehend what just happened.

Son-Wu San yawned. "I'd leave if I were you."

The cultists scrambled to flee, but Li-Yan Mei waved her hand, sealing the space around them. "Oh no. You came all this way. Stay for tea."

Xian Xue grinned. "I'll help set the table!"

The cultivators from the Celestial Inquiry Pavilion wisely chose not to interfere.

They had just witnessed the most terrifying "tea party" in history.
