What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company?

Chapter 581: Pirate Hoard Facility

The doors started to slide open, the metal making loud grating noises as it did so which meant this door hadn't been opened for a while.

Everyone raised their weapons to point at the door, holding our breaths as we waited for it to open.

The only thing we could see was complete darkness where the light from the outside only reached a few metres past the doorway.

Without waiting for the door to stop, the Pirate Lord barked out an order to his men.

"Lights on, let's head in. Matsumoto, tell the others to keep watch outside."

The pirates obeyed and flashlights were activated on the pirates' helmets and rifles as they slowly advanced past the doors.

Their lights scanned the large interior and it looks like I was right in guessing that this was a garage since there were some four wheeled vehicles parked inside.

It was obvious that no one has been here for a long time however, judging by the clear layer of dust that coated everything.

My girls and I also moved in behind the pirates, joining them in scanning the room for threats.

"Mara?" I whispered through our private comms.

"I don't hear anyone here, Captain. Aside from the people already here of course."

That means there shouldn't be anyone in this garage, but that doesn't mean we can let our guards down since there might be automated defenses hidden around the place.

We had already moved halfway into the garage but nothing happened so far. No alarms, no automated defenses and no enemies.

The Pirates Lord scanned around before barking another order at his crew, "Come on, there must be a console or something to turn on the lights."

The pirates start scanning the walls for the console in question and one of them let out a shout when his light managed to stop at a door with the console next to it.

"Boss! Over there!"

"Let's go check it out. Keep a lookout for ambushes."

Following the Pirate Lord's order, our group advanced towards the door and the Pirate that found the console tried to activate it.

The screen lit up dimly before it fizzled and died, remaining unresponsive even as the pirates tapped a few more times on it.

Guess it's broken…

The Pirate turned back to look at the Pirate Lord, silently asking for instructions since without the console, we couldn't get the door open either, much less turn on the lights.

"Step aside," He growled, prompting the pirate to obey immediately.

He pulled back his fist and punched forward, the door crumpling instantly under the blow and flying off the doorframe to crash somewhere inside.

All of us peeked inside with our guns pointed at the door, wary of potential ambushes but it looks like this was just an empty corridor that was also devoid of any lighting.

The Pirates Lord made a waving motion with his hand and his crew formed up in front of him and started advancing again.

The fact that there wasn't even any sound of people aside from us made it quite eerie.

Still, there was no way to go but forward so we continued our advance through the facility.

From how the pirates in front of us were moving, these guys were either trained in military tactics or were ex-military since they were moving in formation and were even properly stacking up when reaching corners before they advanced.

The corridor eventually led to a huge lift closed off by two armoured doors that no doubt would transport us to the upper part of the facility but at this point, I would be surprised that it actually works. T&h^i!s cha$pt&er was fir+s-t se*en+ on MV!^LEM*^P*Y^R&.-

A few of the pirates went forward to try to call the lift using the console at the side and, as I expected, the console wasn't working at all.

Maybe this part of the facility had some independent power supply which was all used up when we opened the main doors earlier?

"My lord…" Matsumoto called out from the side.

We turned to see an open door that led to a set of stairs leading upwards.

Peeking through to look up, I shuddered when I realised that there must be at least a dozen floors we would need to climb before reaching the top.

It might not be a lot but I don't think those stairs were designed to handle the weight of a normal Power Armour, much less the Pirate Lord's.

The Pirate Lord also thought so as he turned to Matsumoto, "You expect me to climb up those stairs in this?"

"Ah… My apologies, my lord…"

The Pirate Lord let out a snort before moving towards the elevator doors which he gave a few raps with his knuckle.

He then thrust his hands in between the gaps of the doors before pulling them open, revealing the elevator shaft behind.

Seems like whoever made this place basically carved a hole in the mountain to make space for a moving platform and called it a day. I can still see the stone walls of the mountain at all four corners with metal supports built into them as the tracks for the lift to ascend and descend.

When we looked up, we realised there was no platform that would have functioned as a lift thus our gaze shifted downwards instead, only to find the platform that would have been the lift below us all broken into pieces.

There were even some containers, vehicles and… Are those skeletons? Those white stuff amongst the debris look like skeletons…

"Seems like some poor saps met their end here," One of the pirates muttered.

"Now what?" I asked, turning to the Pirate Lord. "The lift's out of commission and you can't take the stairs either. Are you going to climb up or something?"

The Pirate Lord turned to me, "Funny you should ask…"

Wait… Is he really…

He reached up and grabbed onto one of the metal struts before suddenly flying upwards along the strut itself.

What the heck? Power Armour can do that?

I turned to look at my girls and they just shrugged in response.

I pointed at the metal strut, "Can I do that?"

Ries shook her head.

Hmm… Maybe we should look into that then…

So what do I do now? I can't use the stairs and I can't use the metal struts to move up there either…

Right as I was thinking if I should just leave my Power Armour down here to use the stairs, the Pirate Lord came back down and stopped in the air with his hand stretched out to me.

"Need a lift?"

Now it feels like you're mocking me…

Whatever.

"We'll meet you upstairs then," I told my girls, the other pirates already moving towards the stairs to ascend up the shaft.

They nodded and I grabbed onto the Pirate Lord's hand and he pulled me up easily like I weighed nothing, my feet dangling in the air as he ascended upwards.

"How are you even doing this?" I asked.

"Magnetic tracks," He explained casually.

That doesn't really explain it but I guess I can guess what he meant.

We reached the top of the elevator shaft and the door at the top was already open.

The Pirate Lord swung me towards the open door and I landed on my feet, using the light from my Power Armour to scan the surrounding area outside the lift.

Huh… Compared to the garage where it was merely just left untouched, this corridor looked like a fight had broken out here with burn marks on the walls, smashed boxes, and even skeletons just laying all around the place.

"What is this…" I muttered.

The Pirate Lord also landed beside me, his Power Armour causing the ground to shake from the force of his landing.

"Hmph… Probably the people who used to occupy this place before the Pirate Sovereign came along and ran them out. We should be in the older and abandoned parts of the station right now so we should be on the right track."

"I don't know… There's nothing here that really tells me this is a paradise like you claimed it was though. This place looks like crap."

"Heh, I bet there's some kind of secret entrance that would lead to some hidden part of the planet with all the hidden resources!"

Yeah… I don't know about that…

I was just about to point out that this place was built inside the mountain and we just ascended from the base of said mountain when a soft thump could be heard just down the corridor.

Both of us turned and a figure seemed to be limping its way towards us from one side of the corridor after having pushed one of the boxes aside.

Is this one of the pirates that were occupying this station or something? Why did this guy show himself then?

When I shone my light at the figure, I realised that the guy limping towards us was missing half his head while the bottom half of his left leg was also lopped off.

Hmm… Why do I feel like I've seen something like this before?
