Chapter 191: Chapter 191: Lancelot's Custody Battle (?)
"Looks like you're the traitor, Lancelot!"
Mash's shield bash sent Lancelot staggering backward. Normally, a Lancelot blessed with divine power could easily counter such an attack, even sending Mash flying. But his body refused to cooperate, unable to muster its full strength.
"Why does she feel so familiar?" Lancelot muttered.
A sense of foreboding washed over him. He desperately wanted to flee, but...
"The Heroic Spirit who entrusted their name to me is..."
Mash pursued Lancelot relentlessly with her shield, Lancelot offering no resistance, merely dodging. From her tone and demeanor, he could now guess the identity of Mash's Spirit Origin.
"Galahad!"
Mash leapt into the air, shouting, and slammed her shield down on Lancelot with all her weight.
"You're a terrible father!"
Lancelot hadn't heard his son call him "Father" since Galahad was a child. He had always longed to hear those words again, and now, as a Heroic Spirit, his wish had come true. Even more surprising, his child was now a young girl—a sweeter, more diligent eggplant version.
The accusation from his daughter made Lancelot's legs buckle. He couldn't muster any strength against Mash's attack, taking the full force of the blow that sent him crashing into the ground.
Mash pinned Lancelot to the sandy earth, her Round Shield distorting his face. "How can you call yourself a Knight when you wield your blade so recklessly against others? I'm ashamed to have you as my father!"
"You don't understand..." Lancelot mumbled, his voice lacking conviction, knowing he had made terrible mistakes.
Seeing Lancelot's hostility fade, Mash finally removed her shield.
"You don't understand? Then tell me, do you know why the Lion King did what she did?"
"I do..."
Lancelot deflated, looking like a father forced by his boss to do extra work, only to be scolded by his daughter for making a mistake.
"The Lion King gave us a choice. Some knights opposed her, but I chose to remain loyal to My King..."
"Enough!"
The Round Shield struck Lancelot's head with a resounding clang—a solid hit.
"Enough...? Ugh! To be lectured by my own daughter..."
The ache in Lancelot's heart far surpassed the throbbing in his head.
"If you harbor doubts about the King, you should seek to correct her! If she errs, you should fight her! That is what Lancelot should do! That is your duty!"
These were the words Galahad himself would have spoken. In that instant, Mash and her Spirit Origin resonated perfectly. After the Spirit Origin Re-Ascension, Mash's armor became even more complete.
"Therefore, I will duel you here and now! I will set you right!"
"You... I..."
Lancelot was at a loss. After agonizing for a long time, he finally drew his weapon. "Lancelot stakes his conviction on this battle. My child, if you lose, you'll return to Camelot with me... If I lose..."
Just as Lancelot pointed his sword at Mash, a black shadow lunged at him with lightning speed, delivering a solid punch to his face.
"Ahrrrrrrrrr—"
"What do you mean she's your daughter? She's mine!"
Lancelot surged to his feet in fury. This was his personal matter! Even if he won, he would have spared the others for Mash's sake. Who dared interfere? "I am the true Lancelot! You dare steal my daughter? You alone, I will never forgive! All restraints shattered—"
Without hesitation, Lancelot unleashed his Noble Phantasm.
The Black Armored Knight had barely spoken since joining the group yesterday, so everyone had temporarily forgotten his true identity.
"Come to think of it, wasn't the person Mr. Jiang You sent to assist us also named Lancelot?"
"I'm getting bored," Jiang You muttered.
"If you're bored, come help!" Medea snapped, her voice sharp with annoyance. While magic was convenient, Jiang You was the first person she'd ever met who dared to boss a Magus around like this. If her very existence didn't depend on him, she would have personally shown him just how petty an Age of Gods Magus could be.
The game's realism meant the desert's scorching heat and sandstorms felt real to the touch. Jiang You had no intention of enduring such discomfort; imagining it was enough.
So, he decided to stay in East Village to grind Affection with the Hassans. After setting up the venue, Medea resumed her role as the resident construction foreman, while Jiang You appointed himself as the supervisor.
"The Clock Tower..."
"Don't even try it!" Medea interrupted. Though she wasn't a Saint, she knew such transparent tactics wouldn't work twice. She flatly refused. "Regardless, you need to get moving! Even Jason wasn't this lazy. I honestly don't know what those two saw in you."
"How about this as a reward?"
Medea's eyes lit up at the item Jiang You pulled from his pocket (inventory).
Medea had helped Jiang You immensely. He still had several Soul Crystals on hand, and regardless of their Affection level, he felt it was only right to give her one. Besides, these crystals weren't universally useful; just like how video game characters have preferred gifts, Soul Crystals weren't equally effective for all Heroic Spirits.
"Using something like this as compensation for such a minor task? You truly are magnanimous."
Medea snatched the Soul Crystal before Jiang You could change his mind. She had coveted this item for ages; it formed the foundation of a Heroic Spirit's Spirit Origin, and one could even say that Heroic Spirit summoning was built upon the Third Magic. Only her fear of devaluing herself in Jiang You's eyes had kept her from demanding it outright. Now, it seemed her worries were unfounded; Jiang You clearly didn't place much value on these crystals. "Next time you need something like this, don't hesitate to ask."
Jiang You received the "Medea Lily" Card and several related cards. Flipping through them, he noticed there wasn't a single card for any other member of the Argo. It seemed that Medea in this state had severed all ties with her former comrades, a state of utter isolation. To obtain Hercules' Card, he would have to take it from Jason himself.
"I'll leave things here to you," Jiang You said. "I'm going to find Minamoto no Raikou."
While Medea might be petty, her moral compass was still superior to that of most Servants. Jiang You wasn't worried she would slack off. As for why he didn't seek out Illya, she was at school, and Raikou had strictly forbidden her from participating in battles during school hours.
Incidentally, Raikou was currently in charge of logistics and the kitchen. Jiang You planned to sneak a taste of the loving mother's bento box she had prepared for Illya.
"Lord Jiang You, Lady Medea!"
Just then, Hundred Faces appeared before them.
"I apologize for the intrusion, but we are desperately short on top-tier combatants. Lord Arash can only muster less than thirty percent of his full strength, and a large number of knights have appeared near the mountain pass. We urgently require your assistance!"
