When Dream Takes over

Chapter 34: Shadows of Truth and Stardust Lights

---

In the Bar...

The dim lights flickered playfully above as soft music played in the background. Jenna and Ruby strolled into the bar, laughter echoing between them. It was their free night, a rare moment away from training, schedules, and flashing cameras.

They grabbed a booth, ordered mocktails first—then something stronger.

"Cheers to surviving this week," Ruby smirked, raising her glass.

"To us," Jenna smiled back, clinking their glasses.

As the night grew louder and livelier, Ruby stood up. "I gotta go to the restroom. Don't get into trouble," she teased and walked away.

Jenna laughed, sipping her drink, when her eyes caught someone familiar across the bar.

Michael.

He looked disheveled and clearly intoxicated, surrounded by a few of his friends, laughing too loudly. But something about his smile was off—tired, hollow.

"Michael?" Jenna blinked.

He wobbled slightly, tipping forward—and in a swift motion, Jenna rushed and grabbed him before he could fall.

He blinked hazily at her, slurring, "Hey… you here? Where's Rico?"

Jenna smiled awkwardly. "I'm here with Ruby... just us."

Michael chuckled, leaning back against the wall. "Your new song's in the Top 3 list. Congrats."

"Thank you," she said gently, helping him stay steady.

"I can stand," Michael said with sudden pride, then… his face shifted. "Where's Ameya?"

Jenna's smile faltered. "…She's at our dorm."

Michael sighed deeply. "I don't know why… but she avoids me. Doesn't take my calls. Maybe she thinks I'm some… playboy."

Jenna looked down, her heart heavy. "No… I know you're not."

Michael leaned closer, his eyes glimmering with sorrow. "But I'm sincere… I really love her…"

Jenna's chest ached. His words—meant for her but didn't know it—sliced deeper this time.

Tears welled up. She couldn't hold it anymore.

"I'm the one you love," Jenna whispered. "Not Ameya. It's me. My soul is in her body. We… we switched."

Michael froze, confusion painting his face. "What?"

Jenna's eyes glistened. "I'm not lying. The girl you spoke to that day… when you said, 'You're real. When you dance, when you speak… It's not like the others.' You said it to me… not Ameya."

Michael's eyes widened in shock. "How did you…?" he whispered, taking a step back.

"I'm telling the truth," Jenna said, voice cracking.

Michael stared at her for a long moment. "Don't play with me like this again."

Then… he walked away.

Jenna stood frozen. Her tears finally fell.

Ruby came back and gently tapped her shoulder. "Did you cry?"

"No," Jenna wiped her face quickly. "Just… a cold."

Ruby didn't press further. "If you're unwell, we can leave."

Jenna nodded silently, but her heart was too loud with pain.

At SuperNova Dorm...

The dorm door creaked open.

Ameya welcomed them in. "You both reek of alcohol."

Ruby giggled and stumbled in, "Blame the shots…"

Ameya steadied Jenna, who was unusually quiet. As they reached Jenna's room, Jenna suddenly broke down and hugged Ameya tightly.

"He didn't believe me," she sobbed.

"Who?" Ameya asked softly, closing the door behind her.

"…Michael," Jenna choked out. "I told him everything… about the soul switch… but he… said, 'Don't play with me like this again?'"

Ameya hugged her tighter. She had never seen Jenna like this—raw, broken, vulnerable. The strong, cold Jenna was nowhere in sight. What remained was a girl who simply wanted to be believed.

Next Morning...

"AHHH!"

Jenna shot up, startled to see Ameya's face so close.

"Finally, you're awake," Ameya smirked.

"Why were you staring at me like that?!" Jenna frowned.

"You've got dark circles. Didn't sleep much?"

Jenna nodded sleepily. "Yeah…"

"Do you remember last night?" Ameya asked, handing her water.

Jenna blinked. "About Michael…"

"No," Ameya said with mock-seriousness. "You vomited. You shouldn't drink if you can't handle it."

"…Sorry," Jenna muttered.

Ameya sat beside her. "Are you sure Michael didn't believe you?"

Jenna nodded. "He didn't. Let's just… forget it." She smiled weakly.

Ameya patted her head.

Jenna asked "Alright. But hey—come with me to the Sky Bridge Hotel tonight?"

Ameya confused "Why?"

Jenna said "I'm the brand ambassador for Liora now. They're throwing a welcome party. I can invite one guest."

Jenna's lips twitched into a real smile.

Ameya nodded "Sure."

---

At Sky Bridge Hotel...

The ballroom shimmered in golden lights, filled with high-profile guests, models, and music. Cameras flashed as Jenna walked the red carpet in a stunning red slit gown.

Ameya watched from the audience in a glittering black gown. Her soft red hair cascaded like silk as she captured photos of Jenna giving her speech.

Liora Brand's chairman, Hendrix Vincent—an elegant man in his 50s—handed Jenna a bouquet.

As Ameya snapped another picture, a voice spoke beside her.

"Hello."

She turned. A tall, well-groomed man with sharp eyes and a kind smile stood beside her.

"You're more gorgeous than any media image," he said smoothly.

"…Excuse me?"

"I'm Zack," he introduced. "You're SuperNova's famous vocalist, right?"

Ameya nodded, surprised. "Yes. You're… a fan?"

Zack hesitated, then smiled. "Something like that. Your new song is amazing."

A woman in a suit came and whispered in his ear. Zack nodded to her. "I'll come. Sorry—I need to go."

Ameya smiled politely as he left.

Moments later, Jenna joined her.

"Enjoying the party?"

"I am," Ameya replied. "That guy—Zack—he said he's a fan."

Jenna grinned. "A fan of SuperNova or… you?"

Ameya laughed softly. "SuperNova."

Just then, Chairman Hendrix came to their table. "May I?"

He greeted Jenna, then looked at Ameya. "You must be the group's visual—Ameya?"

Ameya smiled. "Yes, sir."

"I'd like to introduce you both to our collaboration partner upstairs. There's another party on the rooftop."

Jenna hesitated but nodded when Hendrix insisted.

As they entered the elevator, Zack returned to Ameya's table, looking around. "Where is SuperNova's Ameya?"

"Gone with Chairman to Watson's rooftop party," the assistant replied.

Zack nodded. "Alright. You can go."

---

On the Rooftop...

The rooftop was lavishly decorated under the open sky. A young woman in a white gown stood at the center, cutting her birthday cake.

"That's Alice Watson," Hendrix said. "The daughter of our partner Angela Watson. And next to her is…"

Jenna looked around. "Who?"

Hendrix smiled. "He just turned. Look now."

The tall, handsome man beside Alice turned.

Jenna's breath hitched.

Michael.

He was dressed in a luxurious suit, laughing beside his sister. He looked powerful, poised—completely different from last night.

"That's Angela's son," Hendrix finished. "Michael Watson."

Jenna's mouth parted in shock. Ameya stood frozen.

Then… something even more shocking.

Alice turned and handed cake to another man beside her.

Ameya's gaze shifted—and time froze.

The man turned.

Rico.

She whispered in disbelief, "…Rico?"
