whispers of a forgotten soul

Aurora's breath caught in her throat as she stumbled deeper into the cave , the echoes of her footsteps swallowed by unnatural silence. Dozens of ghostly figures moved in a slow , elegant circles and their translucent bodies dressed in clothes from another century.

Laugher , faints and distance rippled through the air like wind through old curtains. The ghost weren't haunting the cave..... they were celebrating . A ghostly waltz. A gathering of the dead , and somehow l felt like an intruder in the party without an invitation.

Suddenly they music stopped and they all stood silent staring at me with there eyes full of desirement of taking every bit of my blood from my body. I didn't know how to react on whether l scream or pretend like one of them , but that sounded ridiculous cause it was obvious l did not look like one of them.

" who are you ??? And what are you doing here in the middle of the night ". One voice from the crowd asked me . " l came here in peace and l didn't know you had a midnight celebration in here and am sorry for any disturbance that l might caused you by my appearance ". I replied with a shaking voice since I didn't know much to defend myself.

An old grandmother in her mid-50s approached me, she held my hand gently and l could feel her tender warmth. " Don't worry my child no one is going to harm you " ,she said with smooth voice which made me even more to worry cause l didn't trust anyone in my life . She took me to a round table which she kindly offered me a sit . I had no other choice than to accept her offer . I was shivering with fear inside me which l had not make it to my facial expression.

They all looked me in disbelief. As if l came from another planet. One person asked from the crowd " Do you see us and can you also hear us???. His voice cleared up the air which was silent. I was shocked with the question since I didn't realise what was going on . " I am in disbelief on what is going on right now since l can hear and see you clearly ", l said .

They all cheered me and even started calling me the choosen one. I was stumbled upon hearing what they said to me . Me ?? The choose one !! How ?? . The ghost grandmother started to explain to me obvious what was going on . She said that the will be someone who will came and help them ..... so they think that person had arrived and it was obviously me .

Hahahahahha l laughed upon hearing that . " Am sorry if l offended any of you with my laughter but how will l help you " l said ." Don't worry my dear time will tell but for now that the only think we will tell you " . The ghost grandmother said. I looked at my watch and l had realise that time had pass and it was getting late as l need to head home now .

I apologised to them and promised them that l will came back tomorrow as they will be looking for me at home . They all agreed to meet me the following day as they wave their hands as a form of saying goodbye to me . I run as fast as my legs could because l knew what was waiting for at home.
