whispers of a forgotten soul

Chapter 6: THE CAVE'S SECRET.

After last's night encounter l knew for sure l had to search for answers and l had a better way to that . The cave . I had to return back to it inoder to seek for answers on what has been tormenting me over these past few days . The promise l made to them might be the one that hunting me down. I knew for sure that you should never go against the deal you had made with them .

I started packing my essential tools l might need them in the cave. The deal was to go to school first and then later to the cave. The cave hadn't change when l arrived but it felt different this time. As soon as l stepped past its gaping mouth , a sharp chill pressed against my skin, biting my clothes like claws of ice. The once familiar path now drowned in silence , too deep, too heavy like the cave had been holding its breath just for my return.

It's wrapped around me like a shroud ,damp and suffocating as though the cave had taken a breath the moment l stepped in. As l walked deeper l began hearing soft whispers saying " The black sword " . I became more terrified but continued to encourage myself to continue.

I took l step forward but every step echoed. Every heartbeat thudded louder. The wall dripped with moisture and my flashlight flickered even though the batteries were new. Then l heard it again but this time it was a faint whispers, curling around my ears like smoke. My name....distorted, layered. Some voices sounded mournful. Others ....angry. very angry.

I pressed forward, deeper than l ever dared. The shadows began to act unnaturally. As they no longer stood still; they moved when l didn't, curling , crawling , watching. I felt one of them lingering behind me- tall , thin , unmoving - until l turned. Then it was gone.

Something sharp crunched my underfoot. I bent down and uncoverd something. The was a pile of bones , l brushed my fingers beneath it and saw a cracked locket nestled between jagged rocks and brittle bones. Inside a picture . Faded . Half-burned. But it looked familiar..... like the boy from the mirror.

The more deeper l went , the more the cave changed . The walls shifted slowly as if the cave just breathed. It became tightened- like lungs inhaling softly. A heartbeat sound began pulsing from deep within the stones like a low thummed beneath my boots- more of heart. The deeper l walked again the Louder it became. It was the cave's heart beat. Slow . Ancient. Alive.

I saw something scrawled across the stone in what looked like ash mixtured with blood- the was a message with trembling words:

"You are not supposed to be here.... yet"

The l saw a procession of a faceless spirit walking in silence - it was a shadow pacing through the walls of the cave . It felt like it was here with me all this time.

I had something grabbed my ankle. I flinched so hard that l threw my flashlight to the ground and it went off. I couldn't move then l heard something cold whispering directly into my ear. It was so closed enough that I heard what it said .

"She is watching you"
