Why do I have so many masters?

Chapter 19: Conclusion · Second Layer (2/2)

The carriage wheels rolled over the bluestone slabs, emitting a light, rhythmic sound. The grayish-blue city walls of Liangzhou City stood tall, resembling giants surrounding this majestic city, like a continuous chain of mountains.

But now, the heavy iron gate was not wide open as usual. Armored iron soldiers blocked the inside and outside, armed with swords and crossbows, allowing no one to pass. A crowd of civilians gathered around, all wishing to leave the city on urgent matters, but unable to fulfill their wishes.

Some pleaded, some cursed, and some prepared to bribe with silver coins or relied on influential backers. However, today's iron soldiers seemed far more uncompromising than usual, refusing passage regardless of the reason.

The sound of the carriage gradually approached. Compared to usual, the defending general, in particularly tightly worn armor, approached, hand on his sword, shouting loudly. On either side, two iron soldiers wielded their mixed iron spears, crossing them in front of the advancing carriage, forcing it to stop.

The defending general stepped forward and jumped onto the carriage, saying:

"Who are you? Do you not know the orders? Why do you drive straight through the pass? Do you understand that even people from foreign lands, if they do such things, must be imprisoned according to Qin law!"

Before he finished speaking, the curtain of the foreign-styled carriage was lifted by a large hand, which immediately grasped the defending general's hand, rendering him immobile. The surrounding martial soldiers drew their weapons and surrounded the carriage, waiting for the general's order to charge together.

At this moment, the hand inside the carriage released and handed something over, causing the defending general's expression to change several times. The hostility vanished, and he stepped back two steps, leaping off the carriage, saying:

"I see, the main gate cannot be opened; please exit through the side gate."

A crisp voice from inside the carriage replied:

"Thank you, General."

The defending general clasped his hands in salute and stepped aside, saying that he was unworthy of being called 'General' by the noble. The city gate was already opened by a martial soldier at the side, which, though narrower than the main gate, was wide enough to let a carriage pass through.

The coachman shook the reins, and the two highly prized horses stepped forward, pulling the carriage out under the longing gaze of many blocked citizens. Once out of Liangzhou City, they sped away.

The defending general waved his hand, and the side gate was closed again, quashing any thoughts of the other wealthy people. A deputy general approached to inquire, softly asking:

"General, just letting them out like this, is it really okay?"

"The Pillar of the State has ordered the city completely sealed."

The defending general smiled bitterly and sighed:

"Even so, even if the Pillar of the State knew, he likely wouldn't stop this. The identity of these people is far different from ordinary folks, and the matters are too extensive to delay. If any problem arises, we would be held accountable."

The deputy general was even more curious, but the defending general glanced around and softly uttered a name, causing the deputy general, in his thirties, to show amazement and then retreat, no longer puzzled, feeling his general was indeed correct in his actions. The carriage exited the city gate and onto the official road. Only then did the coachman breathe a sigh of relief. With a flick of the wrist, the whip lashed the two fine horses twice, immediately increasing the carriage's speed by several degrees, seemingly without limit, moving tirelessly like the wind, hard for even martial artists to keep pace with.

The speed was so fast that if necessary, just with the strength of these two animals, they could easily break through the city's side gate defenses, plowing through less than a hundred soldiers. These two exotic beasts did not possess any incredible divine skills, but their speed was just too swift.

No force was needed; just running at such speed, a martial artist with cultivated physique would not want to be struck like this. A normal horse already possesses the strength of a thousand catties, let alone a renowned breed with the bloodline of exotic beasts?

At such speeds, even a Sixth Rank Martial Artist would be crushed with broken organs, entirely severely injured.

In the carriage, the Young Master sat sideways on the seat, glancing at the rapidly receding scenery, looking completely relaxed. The two fine pulling horses were already so extravagant that they used exotic breeds among famous horses, and the interior decor was naturally not neglected.

The carriage itself held secrets. While the speed was swift, the passengers wouldn't feel the slightest discomfort. Apart from the seats, there was a Mo Family mechanism cabinet in the center with hidden space, capable of storing many things. At this moment, an exquisite bronze lotus tea stove with fragrant tea sat atop it.

The Young Master poured a cup for himself, holding it in hand, leaning back in the seat, raising the cup in a distant toast to the gradually receding majestic Liangzhou city, mockingly saying:

"Liangzhou, departing this time, who knows when we'll meet again, let's part with this toast."

"The chance to meet so many heroes of the Central Plains this time is indeed a joy. Being able to manipulate them at my fingertips is an even greater joy. But the land of the Central Plains, vast and resourceful, is nothing impressive to me, ultimately just pieces on a chessboard, toys under my hand."

His words were filled with recklessly arrogant air. Leaning on the soft cushions of the seat, his demeanor ungainly, brows and eyes full of confidence and satisfaction, he raised his cup again towards the distant Liangzhou City, ready to drink.

At this moment, a sudden change occurred. The teacup in his hand shuddered, and the tea within spilled all over him, soaking his clothes.

The Young Master's expression slightly changed, and Dongfang Ningxin's music also paused slightly.

The steeds neighed loudly, the two exotic beast horses, capable of charging through formations, abruptly halted. The rumbling sound was endless, accompanied by the coachman's panicked, frantic shout.
