Nephthys complimented and Avners eyes lit up 

" I did, right ? "

" Yes, I thought they would eat you alive at first but the moment you started fighting I was impressed "

"....."

Nephthys thought he would be happy at her compliment but he had a poker face, blinking slowly 

" What's wrong, I said you did a good job "

" You think that pathetic of me ? "

it was now Nephthys turn to fall into silence

" no "

she then finally replied but even so Avner did not seem convinced 

" You did good, I´m proud of you "

she tried again but Avner still had that poker face on 

" You worked hard, we should go eat "

Nephthys then took his hand

This action finally got a reaction from him. He opened his eyes wide in disbelief

" You don't want me to hold your hand ? " 

Nephthys asked then tried to pull her hand away but Avner stopped her right away 

" No, no. You are right, it is late we should go eat " 

Avner agreed 

" Lets go " 

Avner had a bright expression on his face and everytime he looked at her that way Nephthys couldn't help but think of a puppy 

Nephthys started walking and Avner was right behind her 

Maybe I should fight with demons more often if that is going to be my reward, or was it because I was sulking…..maybe I should do that more often 

Avner was thinking of what could have triggered that reaction from her, once he figured that out he could keep doing just that 

" I did good, didn't I ? "

" yes "

" I was incredible with the sword, wasn't I ? "

" yes "

the two of them were now enjoying their meal or at least Nephthys was while Avner enjoyed bragging about his sword skills 

" Woah, now that I think about it, maybe the reason I'm having troubles with my powers is because of that. It would be too unfair to the other man…." 

" How so ? "

" Well think about it, I am a great swordsman, I have a great personality, I am handsome and rich. If I were to be a master as well, then that would make it to hard for the other man to marry "

" Avner "

after listening to his nonsense Nephthys called and he replied immediately 

" yes ? "

" sit down "

without realizing it he had stood up while trying to explain mother natures fairness to the world but nonetheless he sat down right away at her command 

Avner went back to eating so it was now a peaceful meal of both enjoying their food, but while Nephthys did not take her attention away from her food Avner was paying attention to something else ... .or rather to someone….

Avner usually fills up the silence, his family was also very talkative, this is how it has always been ever since he was a child, it was always loud so he was not used to it, but in those moments exactly, the moments where he gets to look at Nephthys that way, he falls in love with peace over and over again 

" If you don't eat, i'm sending you back to the forest "

not even looking at him she warned him 

" cough, cough "

Avner snapped out of it 

" woah the food looks delicious " 

He put some food into his mouth 

" Now that I think about it, I've never seen you skip a meal "

at Avners question Nephthys paused. His words got her some flashbacks from her past, but she soon composed herself and continued eating 

" yes "

it was a simple replay, like usual, that's why not a lot of people would sense something was wrong, but not Avner. Avner saw the soft change in the moods so he decided to change the subject 

" So how did you become such a great master ? "

"....." 

Nephthys looked away from the food and looked Avner in the eyes the sudden eye contact made him nervous so it caused him to start spitting nonsense 

" haha….I bet you come from a family of masters yourself "

" Is that what you think ? "

Nephthys calmly asked, going back to her meal 

Avner didn't even know where that nonsense came out from but now he was even more nervous 

"....."

he didn't know how to reply so he tried thinking of an answer that would not offend her but Nephthys talked first 

" you may be disappointed "

"..."

after hearing no reply from him Nephthys finally took her attention away from the meal and faced Avner once again, her eyes changed….they turned cold
