Wings of Fire in MHA

After all the excitement from the Sports Festival the class had trained even harder after seeing the advantage their stronger classmates had over them. As they piled into the classroom Carter can be seen sharing workout routines with Kirishima and Shoji while Izuku and Ochako geek out over all the heroes they got to see during the festival, and Mina had somehow gotten Katsumi and Momo to share their skincare routines in a mostly civil conversation.

As Aizawa walked in looking sleep deprived as always they quickly went to their seats as Momo took the attendance and gave it to Aizawa, "Took you less time than usual, guess you are learning." he grumbled as Momo sat back down. "Alright, today we're gonna be doing something that will affect you for the rest of your hero career, you're gonna be picking out your hero names." he said as the class lit up 'Something normal!' "This is important as your name will represent you in the future and if you don't pick a good one-" "There'll be hell to pay later~" Midnight sauntered in as she took over, "Midnight will help you decide if a name is worth using or if it needs tweaking, try to keep it down." Aizawa said to Midnight as she shrugged "No promises!"

Setting her whip on the podium Midnight started to pace around the desks,"Now, start brainstorming names and when you think you got one, come over and show the class." she said as the class took out dry erase boards and started writing things down. Carter wasted no time however as he quickly wrote down the name he wanted based on something the system had told him a few months ago, "I'm ready Midnight-Sensei." "Ooh confident are we?" she said as everyone turned to him.

Turning his board to face the class he read, "I am the chaser of shadows and eater of light I am, Darkstalker." he said with mock gravitas as a few students shivered, the name carried an unseen weight that felt ancient and evil, and Carters wording didn't help. "Thats is an interesting name, what made you chose it?" Midnight asked as it was quite unique. "To strike fear into those creeping about in the shadows along with those hiding in the light." he said as Fumikage nodded "Revelry in the dark." he said as if understanding some fundamental truth. 

Deciding to ignore the edgy bird headed teen Midnight okayed Carters name and he sat back down. As he sat a few more got up and showed their names, Kirishima chose the name Red Riot paying homage to his hero Crimson Riot, Momo had chosen the name Creati, Fumikage had a dramatic name like Carter, he chose the name Tsukuyomi,"Ah,God of the night~" Midnight purred as Carter wondered what was wrong with her brain. Katsumi surprisingly chose a good name, 'Explosion Queen of murder'. "Take out the murder part and I'll ok it." Midnight said as Katsumi grumbled but still changed it, other than that most of the names were ordinary or boring other than Mina getting 'Alien Queen' shot down as Midnight thought it was too scary so she went with 'Pinky' instead.

Once they were done picking out their names Aizawa stood up from his corner napping spot and stretched, "Now that that's over with it's time for the next big announcement, the internship program will be next week, I need you all to give me the name of the hero you will be interning with before then." he said as he started to hand out stacks of paper to a couple of students, Carter,Shoto and Katsumi had the biggest stacks. "If you didn't get any offers don't worry, the school already has heroes that can take you for the week so that everyone gets to intern." Midnight said as a few didn't get many if any offers.

As he looked through his stack of papers Carter saw a few names that popped out, Mirko, Endeavor, Hawks, Best Jeanist to name a few. The one that caught his attention though was the dragon hero-Ryukyu, not recognizing the name he looked at Izuku "Hey do you know anything about some hero named 'Ryukyu'?" he asked as a good portion of the class turned and gave him funny looks. "Sure I don't mind!" Izuku said excited that someone was actually asking him about heroes, "Ryukyu is the current 10th place hero, her quirk lets her turn into a massive dragon giving her enhanced strength,durability and the ability to fly, she tends to fight large villains like Mt.Lady however due to her large size and tends to leave more delicate operations to her various sidekicks." Izuku says and is about to say more before Carter cuts him off "That all I needed, thanks." he says as he turn and places Ryukyu's offer in the 'maybe' pile as Izuku feels happy he was able to help.

After getting rid of all the heroes that were weaker than him, or provided little benefit he was left with the following heroes, Hawks, Mirko, Ryukyu, Endeavor, Edgeshot, and Yoroi Musha. Endeavor is a no go just based off principal, and Yoroi Musha is getting too old, as for Edgeshot his quirk is too different from his and he prefers to be loud so that's also a pass, so that leaves Hawks, Mirko and Ryukyu . . . before he can think any further about this the bell rings and its time for lunch.

As he eats he half pays attention as everyone talks about the heroes that offered them an internship, as he listens he grows bored so he decided to mess with his magic since its been a while since he experimented.

'I command the cup in Katsumi's hand to lift up exactly 6 inches above her before letting a single drop of its contents hit her on the nose, after that the cup will gently set back on the table and be a normal cup' he thinks seeing Katsumi about to take a drink, and sure enough the cup lifts right out of her hands much to everyone's shock as the table goes silent as they watch the cup tip over as a single drop of water hits Katsumi right of the face before it slowly floats back down to the table and doesn't move again.

The table is silent as they are shocked at what they have just witnessed as they stare at the cup like it might jump at them, "W-we all saw that right?" Mina asked shakily as Carter laughed internally, he watched as Katsumi continued to stare down the cup as Shoto gave it a strange look as well. "It's just a cup." Carter said "There's nothing to be afraid of." he said to Katsumi as she snapped out of it and glared at him "Like hell i'm afraid of some dumb cup." she snarled as she took the cup in her hand and blew it us with a controlled explosion as they sighed in relief.

After that tense moment lunch ended and they went back to class, as they went through the day Carter enjoyed making several other things float up and move about, Mic had the loudest reaction along with Midnight when she came back to help a few other students with their hero names, Aizawa had never looked so awake as when his coffee cup started to rotate while floating up near the ceiling. 

In the end Carter decided to go with Ryukyu as her quirk was the closest to his, "A good choice." Aizawa said when he turned his form in. On the way home Carter browsed the internet for things that would be useful for his internship, a duffle bag for some extra clothes as Ryukyu's agency was in a different city, one of those fancy camelback water bottles that he could probably enchant, he also listened as Ochako talked about her training and her looking forward to interning with the martial arts hero Gunhead. Reaching his apartment he set his bag down and finished his order form before starting on dinner, as he cooked he looked up Ryukyu and saw that her dragon form was almost as big as his Icewing form, but he wouldn't show that for a while, 'you can never trust a human.' he thought as he talked with Cathleen about the upcoming events as she congratulated him on winning the sports festival.

During the rest of the week, class focused more on academics then hero training as they would get plenty of that during their internship, they didn't slack however as they kept trying to bridge the gap between them and the stronger members of class 1-A. 

On Sunday Carter got all of his packages and started to organize what he would take with him during his internship, taking the camelback he enchanted it 'I enchant this water bottle to never run out of water, no matter how much I drink of empty it.' he thought as he finished filling it, testing it he drank for several seconds and nothing happened, opening the top he tried to put it out into the sick but the water just kept flowing, satisfied that his enchantment had worked he screwed the top back on the set it aside. After that he organized his clothes and essentials in his duffel as he set it and the briefcase containing his hero costume next to the door. 'I need to work on that, its too bulky and I could probably enchant my clothes or skin to be even tougher than armour.' he thought . . . . 'I have magic. I can enchant things . . .' he realized as he realized how much stronger he could be if he had just been a bit more creative.

With that thought he spent the rest of the day thinking of several enchantments that he could apply to his scales and skin, he also made a few for his wings and tail as they were useful as well. 'I enchant my skin and scales to be invulnerable to harm of any sort, to heal instantly if injured, and to shield me indestructibly from any threat of death.' he thought as he grabbed a kitchen knife to experiment, taking the knife he slashed it across his forearm, it left a small white line so he brought out his claws and scales and slashed at several parts of his body, but he barely felt anything and any damage healed instantly 'This would have been so useful before' he thought as he remembered the fight that had gotten him killed as well as the fight that Cathleen had walked in on so many years ago. Satisfied with the results of his experiment he spent the rest of the day playing games with Abby as she was a early riser and it was almost midnight in Japan.

The next day Carter made his way to the city Ryukyu's hero agency was in, it took the better part of four hours so he left extra early to catch the morning train. Upon reaching the last stop he got out and saw a lady holding a sign with his name on it, walking over the lady noticed him "Are you Carter?" she asked as he nodded "Great, follow me, the car is waiting outside." As he followed her he looked around the city, he didn't know the name but the smells and sounds proved it to be very interesting as he could smell several food stands in the area. Getting in the car the lady started to drive "Ryukyu is waiting at the agency, we have a dorm room ready for you, but behave yourself as you'll be the only male in the building." she said as Carter nodded "I can deal with that." he said as the rode the rest of the way in silence.

Reaching the Agency, Carter saw that a was a five story building that was modest in appearance but had several people in costume going in and out, going inside the agency was quite neat and after going to to the fourth flour Carter finally got to meet Ryukyu "Ah you must be Carter, please take a seat." She said as he walked in, as he sat down she finished singing something and gave it to her assistant before waiting for her to leave. After she left Ryukyu turned her eyes to Carter "So what made you choose me? I'm not a famous as others that I'm sure extended you an invitation." she said, straight to the point "Because our quirks are similar, although I have yet to show it, I can also transform into a dragon, though it looks much different from yours." he told her as she nodded finally understanding. 

"Ah I see, well we'll see your dragon form later, right now lets go over what you'll be doing this week." a she said as she handed him an access card, she explained how he would mostly be going around with other senior interns or sidekicks while they would train using their dragon forms, this didn't take very long and soon the took the elevator down to the ground floor where a car was waiting, after a short drive to a nearby park they walked into it and went into an open grassy area.

Making some distance Carter felt Ryukyu's energy surge as she transformed into a large dragon, not as large as his, but still big enough to pose danger to buildings and civilians "Now you try." she said in a deeper tone, so he walked a few meters back before transforming, it was faster than hers and much more noticable, with his large wings and sharp claws, along with a thick tail and strong arms and legs, while Ryukyu's dragon from was strong, Carter's was built for combat, he was about 1.5 times bigger than her with horns instead of hair as she had (A/N:So weird i never got it) as she looked him up and down while circling him Carter took the chance to stretch his wings as even though he flew often around UAs campus his wings still felt a bit cramped, tapping his scales feeling how hard they were with her gauntleted claws, returning the favor he tapped her side with one of his claws leaving a red mark on her, almost breaking the skin as she flinched not expecting her scales to be that much weaker, "So do you only transform or can you do other things?" she asked as she lifted off into the sky and he followed behind her, she led him out of the back of the park into a forested area and seeing a clearing up ahead Carter shot forward eager to pick up speed, as he landed shaking a nearby tree he took a deep breathe and let out a plume of fire igniting a dry log, once it caught fire he started adding more dead things to the pile as Ryukyu touched down next to him 'no fair' she thought seeing him blast an entire tree that refused to leave the ground to cinders, they spent the rest of the day experimenting with several races and lifting competitions to see who was better, Carter won but Ryukyu did give him lots of good tips about being a large hero in confined spaces.

Once they made it back to the agency Carter was startled when a loud bubbly voice came from behind him, "HI Ryukyu! Who you got there? OH is he the new intern? Wow I like your wings, does your tail ever hurt, do your wings get stiff, do-" turning around Carter saw Ryukyu slapping a hand over the mouth of a girl with periwinkle hair whose energy was practically vibrating. "you'll have to excuse Nejire-chan, she gets very excited meeting new people, she is also an intern from the 3rd year class at UA." Ryukyu said as she took her hand off Nejire's mouth as the girl pouted "Why'd you introduce me, I can do it just fine?" she said before brightening up and starting her rapid fire questions again, 'This is hell' Carter tiredly thought as Nejire followed him around asking all sorts of questions as other sidekicks looked of with sympathy as they had all been targeted at some point, after finally managing to lose the chatterbox girl Carter thought that maybe this internship wouldn't be so bad . . .
