Chapter 27: Chapter 27: Doraemon and the Post-Trial of the First Instance

"Impossible, you must be Ai."

She murmured to herself.

At that moment, a rude voice was heard from the side.

"Excuse me, horned girl, what are you planning to do to my charming sister?"

Said Keisuke Kumiko.

He opened his arms to protect Xiao Ai, like a hen shielding her chicks, like a true brother.

"Yeah, a horned girl?" Mouri Ran was stunned, then said angrily, "I'm not a horned girl, my name is Mouri Ran!"

"Then call her Arikado Ran." Kumiko waved his hand as if he hadn't heard her. "Excuse me, Miss Arikado Ran, what do you want to do to my sister? Can't you see that she's scared?"

[Oh the reference xd]

"Brother ~ This big sister is so fierce! I'm scared ~"

At this moment, Ai cooperated as well, hiding behind Kumiko, her small hands clutching the lapels of his suit, looking as if she was about to cry.

Mouri Ran was completely stunned.

She looked at Keisuke Kumiko, then at the frightened girl.

After a while, she slowly exhaled.

"Sorry, I mistook you for someone else." Mouri Ran looked at Kumiko and said, "I didn't expect someone like you to care about family too."

Kumiko raised an eyebrow and said, "Oh, has the angel attribute turned into a venomous tongue attribute?"

"I don't understand what you're saying." Mouri Ran shook her head and said, "I was wrong this time. I apologize. I'm sorry."

Mouri Ran bowed to Kumiko and returned to Mouri Kogoro.

Kogoro Mouri, the uncle with the small mustache, also looked over.

However, he seemed quite calm and didn't appear to realize that Keisuke Kumiko was there to protect the college student he had accused.

"A legend of the police academy?" Kumiko tilted his chin playfully. "Is he pretending to be dumb, or is he really incompetent?"

Either way, it didn't matter to him. At most, he might become an opponent of his wife, Kisaki Eri, in court in the future, and they would have a minor clash.

After the two people walked away, Ai's expression returned to normal, and the small hands gripping Keisuke Kumiko's suit loosened.

"You act very well. You have the talent to enter the entertainment industry as a child star." Kumiko curled his lips. "Why, looking at your expression, you don't seem unwilling at all? You're so ruthless."

"I just don't want that girl to get involved with someone like me."

Ai shook her head and, for once, didn't retort with her usual sharp tongue.

"Oh, the child is pretending to be sophisticated again."

Keisuke pretended not to understand.

Over the past two days, to avoid potential trouble in the future, Keisuke Kumiko took Ai to change her appearance.

The first step was changing her hairstyle. Right now, she couldn't alter her short hair, so they dyed it black first and let it grow longer, reaching her shoulders, making her look more feminine.

Then, she learned how to apply makeup.

As everyone knows, among the three major East Asian sorcery techniques, Japanese makeup techniques are unique. Beautiful during the day, but at night, you might encounter ghosts. Ai casually used a fine-line pen to draw a phoenix eye, instantly changing her original appearance. ( xd)

The next step was practicing a false voice and altering her speech.

It had to be said—she truly knew everything, just like Doraemon. She mastered a few techniques in two days and could slightly change her voice. With time, she would become another girl, completely different from a certain bowtie-wearing boy who needed a voice changer.

Thus, within seconds, even without a mask, it would be difficult for people who knew her to recognize her original identity.

"Still, I didn't expect Mouri Ran to actually see through it."

Keisuke rested his chin on his hand.

"That's just how she is,"

Ai said lightly, her tone sounding a bit low.

"Whenever someone around her has a problem, she's the first to notice and step in to help. She's a very nice person."

"Well, anyone can notice, except for a certain little demon with a bowtie, right?"

"What?"

"Nothing." Keisuke waved his hand. "Alright, dear sister, it's time to go to court."

Ai showed a "kind" smile. "Okay, dear brother, I'm tired, so you'll have to carry me on the way back later."

"Not a chance, go on your own."

Then, the two of them entered the courthouse and arrived at the courtroom within the designated time.

Since Ai was a child, she naturally couldn't sit in the lawyer's seat with Keisuke. She could only listen from the back row.

Since this was a post-trial hearing, the courtroom was sparsely occupied, and there weren't many people present.

Soon, the scheduled time arrived. The judge, jury, and opposing prosecutors rushed in, and the defendant, Nakamichi Kazushi, was also summoned.

Keisuke Kumiko glanced casually.

The prosecutor was a middle-aged man, between thirty and forty years old. Keisuke had no impression of knowing him, and he wasn't someone well-known.

But it didn't matter. Today, he wasn't even qualified to play a supporting role, and this post-trial process would end quickly.

"The court is now in session!"

The judge struck the gavel.

"According to the defendant's appeal, in the first instance, there was violent police interrogation, and the defendant's confession was obtained illegally. Let's ask the prosecution to respond to this!"

The prosecutor was the first to speak.

"That is absolutely false!" the prosecutor denied. "Our evidence collection was conducted through legal procedures. Please do not believe the rumors circulating outside. They are slanders against our public security, prosecution, and judicial organs by unscrupulous media!"

His words sounded righteous, but it was clear that he wasn't confident, and sweat covered his face.

For the prosecution, this post-trial was extremely unfavorable and represented a strong headwind.

"Defense attorney for the accused, do you have any comments on this?" The judge looked at Keisuke Kumiko.

On his side, Keisuke didn't waste words.

"I request that the relevant parties contact the appropriate personnel."

Shortly after, a uniformed police officer appeared.

He was a fat, middle-aged man with a small beard on his chin.

Shoji Terabayashi, a detective from Chiba Prefecture. (He once appeared in the anime episode Sonoko's Dangerous Summer Story.)

Kumiko stood up with a smile, stepped down from the dock, and circled around the short, plump man.

"As a criminal police officer in Chiba Prefecture, in front of your former colleague, what do you think of our defendant?"

Terabayashi Shoji looked very nervous and said, "I—I and he are just colleagues. We usually just drink and chat together..."

"Are you sure about that?"

Keisuke pulled out a document from the table with a smile and read it aloud.

"February 3rd, that guy Nakamichi invited everyone out for drinks again, but he didn't invite me. I really want to beat him up!"

"February 5th, Nakamichi laughed at me today and said I was too fat. Idiot, I just gained a little weight!"

"February 16th, Nakamichi said I don't have a girlfriend. Damn it, people with girlfriends are amazing! I hope he breaks up soon!"

As Keisuke read confidently, Terabayashi Shoji's face grew increasingly stiff.

All of these were diary entries he had written on his own blog.

He thought no one visited his blog, but he never expected that all his information would be dug up and exposed by this lawyer in public!
