A few days passed since the day the barrier went up.

While it wasn't smooth, there was a transition in the end.

With the support of the royal guards, the city guards, and most of the people in the city, Emperor Kalos was able to take control of Glory City.

There were only a few people that were outsiders that had come to trade in Glory City that had also been trapped in Glory City. But since they were trapped, it wasn't as if Emperor Kalos could let them go that easily.

So while he did feel a bit sorry for trapping them, he had no choice but to keep them here since letting them go was too dangerous.

There were some people that tried to sneak out, but they soon found out how strong the barrier was.

In the end, they had no choice but to go along with this.

Since they were here, they just had to make the best of this situation until they were free.

It didn't help when they were threatened by the royal guards and the city guards.

With these two forces in play, they really couldn't do anything.

But that didn't mean that everything would be alright.

There were still the six factions that would soon be coming to deal with Emperor Kalos.

He had taken Glory City, the capital of the Kalos Empire, away from them. This was not something that they could accept that easily, especially since it was the capital city of the Kalos Empire.

If they were to allow this to happen, there was no doubt that there would be people questioning their authority and power. Once that were to happen, it would mean that they would lose their own power.

But the most important thing was not letting their puppet go free.

They had to make sure that Emperor Kalos was still under their control.

That was why it was only a matter of time before the six factions sent people to come and take back Glory City.

The first group that came back were the regiment commanders.

Other than the regiment commanders, there were also the adventurers that came back with them. These were the adventurers that the regiment commanders had hired for something private.

When they came back, they didn't come back alone.

They came back leading the forces of the six factions.

These were the forces that had been in the local area, but it was still a sizable force that had been gathered by them. This was a force that was big enough to surround the barrier that was around the city.

Though it did mean that they were spread a bit thin because of it.

As for the regiment commanders, they went to the place that was closest to the city gates and called out for Emperor Kalos to come out.

"Your majesty, please leave this matter to us. We can't let you put yourself in danger." After the city guards changed sides, they had actually become quite loyal to Emperor Kalos.

But it didn't seem like Emperor Kalos could be convinced by them.

There was a firm look that was on his face as he said, "They're calling for me, so I have to go. If I don't, you can be sure that they won't hold anything back. When that time comes…"

While he didn't finish his words, the meaning behind them was clear.

The city guards had grim looks on their faces after hearing this, but then they looked like they had made up their minds. It was as if they had come to the conclusion that they had to risk their lives.

Only Emperor Kalos wouldn't accept it that easily.

"I won't let you throw your lives away for this. Leave this to me."

"Actually, why not leave this to me?" Lin Fan suddenly said, cutting them off.

Everyone looked at Lin Fan with surprised looks before Emperor Kalos looked at him with a thoughtful look. After looking at him like this for a bit, Emperor Kalos suddenly said, "You have some kind of plan?"

Lin Fan just gave a simple nod in response.

Emperor Kalos narrowed his eyes for a bit before giving a nod as well.

He figured that Lin Fan would have something planned since it wasn't as if Lin Fan didn't expect this to happen. Lin Fan chose to act when the regiment commanders were away with the adventurers, so he should have expected the regiment commanders to come back with an army.

As such, he should have thought of some way to deal with the regiment commanders.

That was why Emperor Kalos was willing to entrust this matter to Lin Fan.

The city guards still seemed a bit worried, but since it was Lin Fan who was saying that he would handle it…

With Lin Fan leading the way, Emperor Kalos and the city guards soon arrived at the edge of the barrier where the regiment commanders were waiting.

When the regiment commander that Lin Fan had been under saw him, he couldn't help narrowing his eyes.

He didn't seem like he believed that Lin Fan was still on his side.

He could tell that if Lin Fan was walking around freely like this, then it meant that he had chosen to work for the other side. There was even a trace of disappointment that appeared in his eyes when he saw Lin Fan like this.

"Do you know what the consequences of your choice will be?" The regiment commander asked in a cold voice.

Lin Fan just calmly looked at him without saying anything.

Then as if he was bored of him, Lin Fan started looking at the other regiment commanders.

All of them were looking at him with the same disappointed look in their eyes since all of them had wanted to be the one that recruited Lin Fan to the faction behind them. But since he betrayed them, that would be impossible.

The only path left for Lin Fan was death.

After all, the six factions didn't forgive traitors that easily.

But Lin Fan still didn't seem fazed at all by the way that they were looking at him. It even seemed like he didn't care at all that they were looking at him like this.

In the end, Lin Fan broke the silence by saying, "Did you know that this was my idea in the first place?"

All of the regiment commanders deeply knitted their brows when they heard this. At the same time, they looked at Lin Fan as if they were trying to figure out if he was being serious or not.

Only it didn't seem like Lin Fan was joking at all with the way that he looked at them.

"It seems like we've completely underestimated you." The regiment commander said in the same cold voice. No, this voice was actually colder than before.

It seemed that he had lost the last trace of doubt that he had and now he was only focused on one thing.

It was to take down Lin Fan who had caused all of this.

But Lin Fan had other plans.

"Calm down and relax."

As soon as he said this, there was something that came over the regiment commanders.

The city guards were shocked when they saw this happen, but there was one person that wasn't surprised by how the regiment commanders acted. In fact, there was a strange smile that was on the face of Emperor Kalos when he saw this.

After all, this was something that he had seen before.

But the fact that he saw it before was also what made it hard for him to accept this.

"Just how did he do it?" That was the only thought that was on Emperor Kalos' mind as he watched the regiment commanders fall into a daze.

It was just like what happened with the royal guards.

Emperor Kalos was certain that Lin Fan was using some kind of strange method to control the royal guards. That was most likely the reason why he had become a royal guard in the first place, it was all so he could set up whatever it was that he was using to control them.

But what that was…Emperor Kalos' guess was as good as anyone else's.

Still, since the regiment commanders were under his control, that meant that all that was left was taking care of the armies that they brought.

"Destroy them all."

As soon as the regiment commanders heard this, they turned around and raised their weapons against the ones that they had just been leading. The armies of the six factions just couldn't react to being betrayed by their commander like this, so they weren't able to do a thing as they sunk their swords into the ones that they had been leading.

Even when they reacted, it didn't seem like they were able to do anything.

The regiment commanders had become commanders for a reason, they were proper experts that were able to fight these armies all on their own.

As long as they wanted, it was easy for them to take down a group of this size.

Especially since they had been spread out like this.

But it wasn't only the regiment commanders that took care of them, there were others that had also stabbed the armies of the six factions in the back.

It was the adventurers that they had brought along as mercenaries.

With Dungeon Core 563 leading them, the adventurers actually went against the armies of the six factions and quickly wiped them out.

Like this, the punitive force had been dismantled.
