Chapter 276: Chapter 274: Master Shang (Part 2)

"Shen Nong tasting a hundred herbs... I never expected that to be passed down through the ages." The Hundred Poisons Immunity technique of the agricultural sect is achieved by continuously testing various herbs and poisons, allowing the body to gradually build up resistance. When combined with the sect's internal martial arts, which help to expel toxins, it achieves true poison immunity—echoing the legendary deeds of Shen Nong.

If a person takes a drug or poison for an extended period, the body naturally develops resistance to it. The same principle applies to poisons. Of course, while this sounds simple, achieving it is extraordinarily difficult. Only a few within the agricultural sect can truly claim to be immune to all poisons.

Testing herbs and poisons isn't just about consuming them; it requires precise control over dosages. For most people, trying this would lead to a painful death—far worse than simply jumping off a cliff.

Most poisons don't cause instant death; they lead to agonizing suffering before the end. Only a select few are lethal on contact.

The sect's internal martial arts also play a crucial role. Generally, internal energy can help detoxify the body, but the effectiveness varies greatly depending on the specific martial arts technique. Ordinary techniques have minimal detoxifying effects, while top-tier ones can work wonders. The Ghost Valley Breathing Technique, for example, is highly effective against toxins.

The agricultural sect's martial arts go a step further, which is why very few in the sect bother to pursue complete poison immunity. Most simply enhance their resistance to toxins. The taste of poison is far from pleasant, and the pain it causes is unbearable for many, so even within the sect, few achieve full immunity.

Though Daniel now had access to the agricultural sect's martial arts, including several other techniques Sima Wanli had sent, he wasn't in a rush to start training. Internal martial arts differ significantly from physical and mental techniques like taijutsu and Nen, and he wasn't about to start practicing recklessly without fully understanding them.

Moreover, Daniel's primary goal was to learn Yin-Yang techniques. While the agricultural sect's poison immunity was impressive, it wasn't particularly useful for him. After all, neither Gai Nie nor Wei Zhuang had poison immunity, and no one had managed to poison them.

"You really are destined to die before the Qin era, aren't you?" Daniel muttered as he observed Bai Yifei, the Blood-Clothed Marquis, riding a white horse through a forest outside Xinzheng. Bai Yifei's path was lined with ice, which he had created, slowly advancing on the frozen road. Daniel shook his head slightly at the sight.

As the future Sword Saint and the top swordsman of his era, Gai Nie's entrance paled in comparison to Bai Yifei's dramatic display.

Daniel had originally been studying internal martial arts when he noticed soldiers being mobilized and Wei Zhuang also on the move. Curiosity piqued, he decided to follow, and he soon stumbled upon an interesting scene.

Bai Yifei had engaged Tianze, giving Wei Zhuang the opportunity to rescue the Korean Crown Prince. Wei Zhuang, with his formidable skills, suppressed Yan Lingji, Wushuang Gui, and Baidu Wang, emerging unscathed this time, especially without the burden of Red Lotus.

As for Tianze, despite having the poison Gu removed and regaining full strength, he still fell short of Bai Yifei. This might have been due to his prolonged imprisonment, weakening him over time.

But Daniel wasn't particularly focused on the martial prowess of Bai Yifei or Tianze. What caught his attention was Bai Yifei's elite guard, the White Armored Soldiers. They could throw icy spears and create an environment of pure cold, enhancing Bai Yifei's combat strength by at least thirty percent.

With a range of about 200 meters, this unit, if not for its limited numbers, could have been a dominant force in the Warring States period. Unfortunately, these soldiers had vanished by the time of *The Legend of Qin*—a real loss. If their numbers could have been expanded to 500 or 1,000, they would have been an unstoppable force.

Such a unit would be the perfect counter to the Macedonian phalanx, crushing them easily. With 5,000 or 10,000 soldiers like this, they would be invincible, far surpassing the likes of the Wei Wu Corps, the Golden Fire Cavalry, and the Tenglong Legion.

"Truly remarkable," Daniel mused, acknowledging Bai Yifei's formidable abilities, especially his ice-related techniques. The way he manipulated ice vines during his battle with Tianze gave him a clear advantage.

It was evident that Bai Yifei had mastered both martial arts and mystic techniques.

"The enemy of my enemy is my friend," Daniel thought as Wei Zhuang allowed Yan Lingji and the others to escape, recognizing that the Hundred Yue Clan's presence would help Liusa by distracting Nightfall's forces. In such a scenario, Liusa wouldn't stand by and let Bai Yifei kill or capture Tianze.

Unfortunately, the difference in strength between the two sides was too great. Even with Yan Lingji's fire—normally a counter to ice—the disparity in power was significant, leaving her flames largely ineffective against Bai Yifei.

Likewise, Baidu Wang's poisons were useless against Bai Yifei's icy true energy.

"You all can keep fighting." As Bai Yifei wielded his twin swords and manipulated ice vines to suppress the Hundred Yue Clan, Daniel moved silently toward the White Armored Soldiers.

With his floating cloak, Daniel could fly without relying on Moon Walk. This magical artifact had become more intuitive for him to use over time. At this point, Daniel could use the floating cloak to capture Bai Yifei without even lifting a finger.

The floating cloak had been powerful enough to restrain Thanos for a time, and its known abilities included rapid flight, near-impenetrable defense, and shape-shifting.

"Let's see what secrets these White Armored Soldiers hold." Sneaking up on the fifty-odd White Armored Soldiers, Daniel quickly incapacitated most of them with alchemy, causing the ground beneath them to shatter. In the ensuing chaos, he captured the survivors using his *Convenient Magic Cloak*.

Boom!

Just after dealing with the White Armored Soldiers, Daniel heard a tremendous explosion, followed by the ground shaking. He turned to see a large fire erupting over Bai Yifei's battlefield.

"Looks like something happened." Daniel shrank his magic cloak and grabbed a few more weapons—a couple of crossbows and quivers—from the fallen soldiers.

Without the powers of the Surgical Fruit, Daniel had no ability to manipulate objects from a distance, but by using Nen threads, he could create the illusion of doing so.

Korea might have been the smallest of the Seven Warring States, but it had managed to maintain its place among them, outlasting other larger states. This wasn't because the other states were incompetent—Korea had its strengths.

Historically, Korea had been known for its powerful archers and crossbowmen, renowned throughout the Central Plains. Unfortunately, though their weapons were still strong, the spirit that once earned them the nickname "Strong Korea" had faded.

After being crushed by Qin, Korean soldiers had lost their morale. Even with the best equipment, a demoralized army could not fight effectively. Han Fei had analyzed the potential drawbacks of Qin annexing Korea, but he failed to account for the many benefits it would bring to Qin.

Moreover, Korea blocked Qin's path to the east. If Qin didn't conquer Korea first, it couldn't easily attack the other states. Besides, Korea's rich iron and grain resources were crucial to Qin's ambitions. Korea might have been small, but its well-equipped army was due to its abundant iron mines.

"They left Yan Lingji behind to cover their retreat. Tianze truly has ambitions beyond his capabilities," Daniel observed from the air. He saw that one of the ice walls trapping Tianze had been broken, allowing Wushuang Gui to carry the exhausted Tianze, along with Qushi Mo and Baidu Wang, as they fled on the ground.

Yan Lingji unleashed a powerful wave of fire, holding Bai Yifei at bay as he attempted to pursue them. Seeing this, Daniel understood why Yan Lingji was left behind. Among Tianze's followers, she was the strongest. Anyone else wouldn't have been able to hold off Bai Yifei, and more lives might have been lost.

Tianze had grand ideals, but his own strength was lacking. Worse, his martial skills were mediocre, his intelligence wasn't exceptional, and he had no strategic advisors among his followers.

In contrast, Liusa was led by Han Fei, Zhang Liang, and Wei Zhuang—each a master strategist. The disciples of the Ghost Valley sect were said to be capable of ruling kingdoms with their wisdom and martial prowess. They could terrify rulers with a glance and bring peace to the world when at rest—no idle boast.

Gai Nie, for example, had voluntarily become Ying Zheng's bodyguard. Had he chosen a different path, he could have easily become a general or minister with great authority.

Interestingly, Gai Nie had once been opposed to Qin. He and Wei Zhuang had fought against Luo Wang's Black and White Xuan Jian, rescuing a noble of Wei. But after entering Qin and speaking with Ying Zheng, Gai Nie had a change of heart and pledged his loyalty to Qin.

From a modern perspective, Qin's system might seem harsh, but in the Warring States period, it was the best available.

It's worth noting that Gai Nie and Wei Zhuang were considered the least successful disciples of the Ghost Valley sect. Despite their high status in the martial

world—Gai Nie as the Sword Saint and Wei Zhuang as the leader of Liusa—they were outshone by their predecessors. Pang Juan and Sun Bin had both been top generals, and Su Qin and Zhang Yi had served as prime ministers. Wei Zhuang had a chance to become Korea's general, but Korea fell before he could take the position.

"I can't let you capture Yan Lingji." As Daniel surveyed the scene from the air, he noticed Han Fei and Wei Zhuang watching from a nearby hill. Then he saw Yan Lingji entangled by Bai Yifei's ice vines. Deciding to intervene, he landed, jumped onto one of the ice walls, and fired two crossbow bolts at Bai Yifei just as the marquis was closing in on Yan Lingji with a smile.

"A helper?" Bai Yifei paused as the ice vines blocked the two arrows, then coldly stared at Daniel, who was dressed in black and wearing a mask.

Without any visible movement, the ice vines shot towards Daniel, attempting to ensnare him.

"The crossbows aren't strong enough," Daniel thought as he tossed the two crossbows at Bai Yifei, then grabbed five arrows from his quiver.

"Let's see you smile now," Daniel muttered, launching an arrow like a bolt of lightning. It whistled through the air, piercing Bai Yifei's ice vines like they were made of paper and hurtling towards his head.

Bai Yifei's cold, expressionless face changed as he sensed the incoming danger. He tilted his head just in time, narrowly avoiding a fatal shot, but the arrow still left a long gash on his left cheek, blood dripping from the wound.

In the next moment, the wound froze over, sealing the cut. Bai Yifei's eyes turned icy, filled with killing intent. He brandished his red and white swords, the air around him chilling as his icy true energy gathered.

Even when fighting the entire Hundred Yue Clan, Bai Yifei had only used his blood-red sword. Now, with both swords drawn, it was clear he was enraged.

Meanwhile, four sharp cracking sounds echoed as the ice vines binding Yan Lingji's limbs shattered. She was free, thanks to the four arrows Daniel had shot after the first.

These arrows, unlike the crossbow bolts, had been enhanced with Nen energy.

"Why are you just standing there? Run!" Daniel yelled at Yan Lingji, who stood still, staring at him.

"Thank you," she replied, finally snapping out of her daze and preparing to flee.

"None of you are getting away," Bai Yifei snarled, his killing intent reaching a peak. He darted towards Yan Lingji with his white sword, aiming to kill her.

Normally, Bai Yifei wouldn't have killed Yan Lingji, but circumstances had changed.

Daniel had once seen someone pair Yan Lingji and Bai Yifei as a couple, but he found the idea ridiculous. Bai Yifei was a man devoid of any genuine emotion, driven only by a thirst for power. He had kept Yan Lingji alive not out of any affection but to find the Hundred Yue treasure. In the deepest recesses of his estate, there were piles of bones—each one belonging to a beautiful young woman.

The jade tiger had collected many women, but the highest quality ones were selected by Chao Nu Yao, not for King Han, but for Bai Yifei. Poor Ji Wuye thought these women had been sent to the palace, never realizing they had all died at Bai Yifei's hands.

Whoosh!

Just as Bai Yifei was about to strike Yan Lingji, the sound of an arrow whistling through the air forced him to retract his sword and block the incoming projectile.
