Chapter 334: Chapter 330: The Wild Hounds (Part 2)

"To think such a powerful artifact exists, and yet the Empire has fallen to this state. It's hard to know what to say." Daniel Davis muttered as he examined the Book of the World in his hands. The artifact, known as World Bible or Book of the World in the Akame ga Kill world, was an incredibly powerful Imperial Arm. It functioned almost like a strategic game's minimap, showing the locations of all kinds of resources across the land—such as gold mines, which Daniel could pinpoint precisely, along with their total reserves.

In theory, one could use this book to locate resources and exploit them directly. However, for the people of this world, many of these mines were hidden deep within treacherous mountains, guarded by dangerous beasts. But for someone like Daniel, this posed no challenge. With his alchemy skills, he could easily extract the gold from beneath the earth, though unfortunately, even in the world of Fullmetal Alchemist, alchemists weren't typically employed as miners.

The most talented individuals, after all, were often reserved for higher purposes, much like the top recruits in the world of Attack on Titan, who were drafted into the Interior Police. Even though Daniel possessed powerful alchemical abilities, he rarely engaged in mining operations himself. In places like Marvel's alien worlds or the uninhabited islands in the Attack on Titan world, mining was largely conducted by machines under the control of the Red Queen.

It was only because he had little else to occupy his time in Jolok City that Daniel considered mining the area. The region was rich in resources, many of which were materials Daniel needed.

"It seems I'll need to establish a trading company to gather medicinal herbs and other materials," Daniel mused. Even with the Book of the World, it was impractical for him to personally collect all the world's resources—it would be far too time-consuming.

"Lady Esdeath has no time to see you." Outside the villa, Run once again turned away Suzuka, who had come to request an audience with Esdeath.

After Esdeath's recent battle with the Rakshasa Demons, Suzuka had become obsessed with her. If Esdeath was the queen of sadism, then Suzuka was the queen of masochism—the two were a perfect match. However, Esdeath was currently engrossed in her training and had no time for Suzuka.

"I'll try again later," Suzuka said with a smile, glancing at Daniel before departing. She had initially attempted to sneak in to see Esdeath, and it must be said that Suzuka was exceptionally skilled in stealth; neither Run nor Will had noticed her intrusion.

Suzuka's body was highly flexible, almost rubber-like, allowing her to twist and compress herself to hide in even the smallest of spaces. However, her stealth skills were useless against Daniel, who had detected her instantly and unceremoniously thrown her out. Suzuka initially resisted, but upon realizing the vast difference in power, she gave up.

Since stealth had failed, Suzuka decided to take a more direct approach.

Despite her overwhelming strength, Esdeath had terrible luck in attracting unwanted attention from strange individuals. Suzuka, who was a lesbian, was particularly drawn to Esdeath for this reason. The last time a woman showed interest in Esdeath was Merlad from Oberg, who even tried to assault Esdeath. Fortunately, at the time, their powers were evenly matched, forcing Merlad to retreat.

"The Rakshasa Demons have their uses. It would be a waste to kill them all." After Suzuka left, Daniel pondered how to deal with the Rakshasa Demons. Initially, he had planned to eliminate all of them, but after observing them for a few days and reviewing the information Run had gathered, he reconsidered.

Daniel had originally intended to kill the Rakshasa Demons because he believed they were all loyal to Prime Minister Honest. However, it turned out that only the leader, Habaki, was closely associated with Honest. The other three members were simply doing their jobs and weren't driven by a bloodlust for killing.

Given this, Daniel concluded that only Habaki needed to die. The remaining three could potentially be recruited. After all, when establishing a new government, having forces that operated in the shadows would be beneficial, and these three fit the role perfectly.

The Imperial Fist Temple didn't have many other notable fighters left aside from the Rakshasa Demons.

"It seems they've arrived," Daniel said, sensing the presence of Leone and the Rakshasa Demons heading out. He turned to Run and instructed, "Keep an eye on Will. Don't let him get involved."

Without waiting for a response, Daniel swiftly followed after them.

Leone had lured the Rakshasa Demons into an abandoned building in the city, where Akame, Bulat, Sheele, and Lubbock were waiting.

"Long time no see, Akame." As soon as they saw her, the Rakshasa Demons greeted Akame as if they were old friends. Suzuka and Tsukushi waved at her, while Habaki remained cold and silent.

"I didn't expect we'd meet again like this," said Tsukushi, glancing at the One-Cut Killer: Murasame in Akame's hand with a sense of nostalgia.

Back in the day, Akame had fought alongside the Rakshasa Demons. During the operation against Oberg, they had worked together, along with the elite members of the Imperial Assassination Unit and Gozuki.

"You traitor! How dare you show your face!" Habaki snarled at Akame, his eyes filled with murderous intent. As one of Honest's trusted subordinates, he knew all too well the damage Akame's defection had caused. Her betrayal had led to the downfall of the Empire's elite assassin squad, the complete annihilation of the experimental group, and the destruction of key facilities. The Empire's assassination capabilities had been crippled, taking years to recover.

Just as Habaki was about to continue, a beam of energy suddenly shot towards him from the side—it was fired by Mine's Imperial Arm, Pumpkin.

Night Raid was a professional assassination unit; they didn't waste time with banter. Akame's brief conversation with the Rakshasa Demons had merely been to create an opening for Mine.

As soon as Mine fired, Akame sprang into action, her Murasame aimed at Habaki. Akame was all business—when it came to her enemies, even her own sister, she wouldn't hesitate. She had once killed a close friend from her days in the elite assassin squad without a second thought.

As Akame engaged Habaki, Lubbock, Bulat, and Leone each picked a target, joining the fray.

Meanwhile, the Rakshasa Demons reacted quickly. Habaki narrowly dodged Mine's shot by twisting his upper body at an almost impossible angle, thanks to his unparalleled control over his muscles. He then used his rapidly growing hair to shield himself from Akame's attack.

"Your opponent is me!" Tsukushi shouted as he lunged at Leone, while Lubbock and Bulat squared off against Suzuka and Tsukushi.

Sheele, slower to act, finally rushed in to support Akame. Her target was Habaki, whose hair she began cutting away with her Imperial Arm, Extase. This unexpected counter forced Habaki to retreat in surprise.

Though the Rakshasa Demons all trained in similar techniques, their abilities differed based on their personalities and preferences. Habaki, like Gozuki before him, specialized in controlling his hair for both offense and defense, with an added ability to bind enemies. Suzuka's focus was on flexibility and defense. In the original story, Lubbock had managed to outsmart and kill Tsukushi and Tsukushi using his Imperial Arm, Cross Tail. However, had his opponent been Suzuka, things would have been much tougher for him. Unfortunately for Lubbock, this time he was up against Suzuka.

Tsukushi, facing Bulat, relied on his rock-hard fists, which could withstand direct blows from Bulat's Incursio without taking any damage.

Tsukushi, meanwhile, controlled his sweat—an ability that allowed him to both attack and defend.

"It's almost like a low-tier version of Fish-Man Karate," Daniel thought, recognizing similarities between Tsukushi's techniques and the martial art practiced by the fish-men in the One Piece world.

"Najenda isn't here. Could she be at the church?" Daniel activated his Observation Haki, scanning the area. Aside from Mine, there was no one else in the vicinity.

"The Imperial Arm counters Habaki well, but Sheele is too weak," Daniel observed as Akame and Habaki's battle moved further away. Sheele tried her best to keep up, but her lack of speed made it impossible to catch up.

In the original timeline, Sheele was the first member of Night Raid to die, a fate that was not entirely surprising given her weak physical strength and reliance on close combat. If anything went wrong, she was the most likely to fall.

Leone was in a similar situation, though her Imperial Arm granted her enhanced physical abilities and rapid regeneration. Without it, Leone likely wouldn't have survived as long as she did.

As Sheele continued chasing Akame and Habaki, Mine emerged from her hiding spot, carrying Pumpkin. Normally, snipers preferred to stay concealed, but this wasn't the case with Pumpkin.

Pumpkin was an Imperial Arm that increased its power the more danger its user was in. The only way to maximize its potential was by exposing oneself to danger, which would heighten the user's mental energy and, in turn, the weapon's destructive

 power.

Mine had been using Pumpkin to support Lubbock, Bulat, and Leone, but to no avail—each shot had missed due to the Rakshasa Demons' vigilance.

"If this keeps up, Lubbock's in trouble." With Akame and Habaki gone, the three-on-three battle wasn't looking good for Night Raid. Leone and Bulat's matches were evenly matched, and while it was hard to predict the outcome if the fight dragged on, Night Raid had the advantage of possessing powerful Imperial Arms. However, the Rakshasa Demons had the upper hand in terms of stamina.

But Lubbock's situation was dire. Suzuka's abilities directly countered Cross Tail. Had it not been for the protective web of threads Lubbock had woven around himself, he might already have been seriously injured.

Sensing Lubbock was in danger, Mine entered the battle alongside him, hoping to even the odds.

"It's getting lively here," Daniel commented as he stepped out from the shadows. His sudden appearance caused Night Raid's members to tense up, immediately retreating and regrouping in a defensive formation.

"I let you go last time, but you dared to show your faces again. This time, I won't be so lenient."

"You guys go. I'll hold him off," Bulat said, hefting Incursio and charging at Daniel.

"Go!" Leone grabbed Mine and tried to make a run for it.

"None of you are leaving," Daniel said calmly. Suddenly, chains shot out from the ground, binding Leone, Lubbock, Mine, and Bulat in place.

Despite their desperate struggles, the chains held firm. With the revolution nearing its climax, Daniel no longer needed Night Raid to operate in the shadows.

"Hand over the Imperial Arms." Daniel reached over to Lubbock, stripping him of Cross Tail. He then proceeded to confiscate Bulat's Incursio, Leone's Lionelle, and Mine's Pumpkin.

"A weapon that converts mental energy into shockwaves… It suits me well, but its power ceiling is too low." Holding Pumpkin, Daniel immediately understood its mechanism.

The weapon's increased power in dangerous situations was merely a reflection of heightened mental energy in those moments. For someone like Daniel, who had a vast reserve of mental energy, he could make Pumpkin operate at maximum power at will.

A powerful shockwave beam, about a meter in diameter, shot from the weapon, cutting through the abandoned building's upper floors. The resulting destruction caused the structure to collapse entirely.

As the building fell, the remaining Rakshasa Demons dashed out, with Daniel dragging his captives behind him.

"This is as far as it goes," Daniel said, watching as Pumpkin crumbled to pieces. The intense surge of energy had caused it to overload and break apart.

Seeing Daniel effortlessly unleash such destructive power with Pumpkin left Mine and the others speechless. They had never seen anything like it before.

Mine, in particular, felt disheartened. She had always believed herself to be a proficient user of Pumpkin, but compared to Daniel, it was clear she had never fully realized its potential.

Pumpkin had originally belonged to Najenda, who had wielded it during her time as an Imperial general. She had passed it on to Mine, believing her to be better suited to the weapon. But now, seeing what Daniel had done with it, Mine felt like an unworthy user.

"Alright, this part of the mission is done. Let's go help Habaki," Suzuka said, looking over at Tsukushi.

"It's just a difference in position. I'm not interested in revenge," Tsukushi replied, shrugging off the idea of avenging his father.
