Wizard: I Can Refine Everything

Chapter 51 Goblin Transformation Plan

Even as the World Master, the time to peer into the world's underpinnings is limited.

After a day of observing the rules layer, Richard had to withdraw. Actively observing the Rule World requires a massive amount of spiritual power to sustain, and Richard's spiritual power could only last so long.

Of course, the time spent observing the Rule World is not necessarily better the longer it is; the rules that a soul can imprint are limited. Once it's full, no matter how much longer one observes, the rules obtained will not increase.

With his eyes closed in meditation, three hours later, Richard opened his eyes, and the energy around him suddenly became frenzied.

"I've finally gained some harvest after all these years of observation."

After ten years of observation, Richard finally acquired some of the Active Energy Rules.

Standing up, Richard opened the Secret Realm Rift and returned to the Secret Realm.

The Secret Realm remained the same; ten years were but a blink of an eye for the World Mushroom.

Arriving at the top of the World Mushroom, the Divine Palace Laboratory was still in its over-five-hundred-year-old state. However, upon closer inspection, one could find that some of the incomplete areas of the laboratory had already been repaired — the Divine Palace Laboratory had a self-repair function, but this function was usually auxiliary, used to repair minor scratches caused by spatial storms.

But now, this function had become the sole means of repair for the Divine Palace Laboratory — at least for now, this was the case.

Upon entering the laboratory, Lan's projection immediately appeared beside Richard.

"Master control, how is the goblin modification plan coming along?"

"Lord Richard, I have designed a prototype according to your requirements, but with my computing power and database reserves, some conditions seem nearly impossible to fulfill."

As he spoke, a structure diagram of a bizarre creature appeared before Richard.

Over five hundred years ago, Richard had once handed a sample of Wild Beastmen Bloodline to Lan for analysis. And now, over five hundred years later, under the energy supply of the World Mushroom, the bloodline analysis of the Wild Beastmen was complete.

The Wild Beastmen's bloodline has a lot of specialized designs, mostly aimed at countering Anti-Meme abilities.

As a Tomb Guardian for the Demon Lord, it's a necessary ability for the Pioneer.

But now, these abilities have become a burden for Richard.

Because of these abilities, the Life Core of the Wild Beastmen is extremely complex, and this redundant information interfered with the expression of the bloodline after hybridization, so that, except for the ability to communicate with the Power of Mystery, all other advantages of the Wild Beastmen were overshadowed by this useless Anti-Meme ability.

This is not good at all.

So Richard gave Lan the task of removing the parts of the Wild Beastmen bloodline used to counter Anti-Memes. Then integrate the remaining parts with the goblin bloodline, thereby creating a hybrid creature.

This creature would possess the strong physique of the Wild Beastmen and the talent to communicate with the Power of Mystery, along with the goblin's reproductive ability and recovery ability.

To be honest, Richard felt he was being unreasonable when he made this request.

The stronger a creature is, the lower their fertility rate. An absolutely perfect creature's fertility rate would inevitably drop to nearly zero.

This is the iron law of life.

But Lan still took on this task and pushed forward with Richard's requirements.

"This is the hybrid goblin I've designed. It possesses all the requirements you've requested, except for fertility capability."

The biological structure before Richard is perfectly symmetrical, a very typical Pioneer creature. This creature has developed muscles, resilient bones, and all its body systems are extremely perfect, except for a fertility rate even lower than that of the Earth Goblins.

"No, it's too low. Fertility can be lower, but not to this extent. We can lower other conditions in favor of fertility."

"Oh, if you are willing to lower the conditions, then there are various options available."

The structural diagram vanished from the air, followed by a large number of design plans appearing before him.

"These are design schemes that ensure the remaining rate, have a look at which one best suits your needs."

It must be said that Lan's capabilities and efficiency are beyond reproach. In such a complex task as designing creatures, he could put forth so many schemes.

If Richard were to design it himself, producing one design in ten years would already be considered extremely efficient.

Designing a creature requires extremely complex and precise calculations; to put it bluntly, even the most complex Magic Model of the Wizard is not as intricate and exquisite as the Life Core of a mortal.

Each design scheme had its own emphasis: some were stronger, some more agile, some smarter, offering a variety of options.

But as Richard looked through these schematics, the nearly perfect design he had just seen kept surfacing in his mind.

"Master control, what about that design from before?" Richard suddenly asked.

"Here it is. Do you have any thoughts?"

The design reappeared before Richard, who compared it with the schematics around him, and suddenly a thought occurred to him.

"Master control, what if we turn this perfect version of the refashioned goblin into an advanced product? That is, through postnatal modification methods, transform a goblin into this perfect creature."

"...That is a feasible scheme. But you must think it through; doing so requires an abundance of resources as a backup."

"Abundant resources? Give me some specific data."

"After preliminary calculations, transforming a refashioned goblin into the form you require necessitates a complete set of compatible facilities, basically a hospital would suffice. If you're aiming for an army, then you'd need to establish separate facilities for screening, training, modification, rehabilitation... this entire series, supported by a small nation.

But if your idea is on a larger scale, intending to make these perfect goblins as ordinary soldiers, then you'd require at least a small world as a foundation."

"It seems my resources are quite adequate," Richard smiled slightly.

"Oh, have you already conquered this native world? Then I can offer you some advice. If you haven't fully replaced the old technologies of those natives with the new civilization, then I suggest you design more 'perfect goblins.' On the battlefield, it's not just about having warriors charging in; logistical support is also crucially important."

Richard raised an eyebrow at these words, "You've done some research in this area, Lan?"

This was the first time Richard had addressed the master control by name since acquiring the Divine Palace Laboratory.

Lan was silent for a moment; with her intelligence, she already understood what Richard's change in form of address signified. She then continued, "As a member of civilization, you should know that war is the eternal melody of this Galaxy. Although I am the master control of a laboratory, as I just mentioned, warriors charging in aren't the only ones needed on the battlefield."

"Then I must have found a gem. Do you have any suggestions, Main Control?"

"That depends on your needs. However, some common modifications are highly recommended."

"Tell me about them."

The design diagram in front of Richard suddenly disappeared, replaced by a slender biological structure diagram.

"In my design library, this modification is called the Source Power User. This creature can control energy with great precision, from charging into battle to providing medical support from the rear, entirely depending on where you place it."

As he spoke, the Source Power User's diagram vanished, replaced by a short biological structure diagram.

"This modification is known in the database as the Mechanic, which has an innate advantage in memory. Its small and flexible body allows it to crawl into various tight spaces for repairs."

Following that, the Mechanic's structure diagram also disappeared, and the design diagram in front of Richard changed to that of a corpulent creature.

"This is the Self-sacrificing Doctor, whose body can produce various antidotes and drugs to assist recovery."

"This is the Observer, capable of seeing everything from optical invisibility to the Dimension Gap."

"This is..."

In the Main Control's introduction, Richard saw seven or eight different modifications in succession. All of these modifications were intimately related to battlefield functions, making it clear that the Pioneers were certainly no benevolent beings back then.

"These modifications are all very good," Richard nodded, "but there's a problem. How do I modify? If I'm not mistaken, these modifications correspond to different races.

But I only have Goblins at hand."

"No, Sir Richard, you also have me." Lan stood across from Richard and bowed slightly, "If you need, I can compile the data and redesign new modifications."

After speaking, Lan raised his head, looked into Richard's eyes, and said solemnly, "As long as you need, I will do anything I can for you."

Richard was silent for a moment before extending his right hand.

"...Then let's design something."

Lan was stunned for a moment, then extended his hand to shake.

...

More than five hundred years ago, the Divine Palace Laboratory had already moved to the Secret Realm, during the days when the Abyss War had not yet begun.

"I don't believe you didn't notice."

Hog suddenly spoke to Richard, who was meditating.

"Notice what?" Richard opened his eyes and asked calmly.

"That Main Control, Lan. You must have noticed; it already has self-awareness."

Richard looked at the Giant Dragon with interest, "I thought you would be quite happy to see me get fooled?"

"How would watching you get fooled benefit me?" Hog said somewhat angrily, "If you don't want me to say anything, I'll just shut up in the future."

"Haha, don't be mad. Of course, I noticed," Richard chuckled softly and replied calmly, "But just noticing doesn't mean anything. Since it is willing to help us with work, why worry about whether it has its secrets or not?"

"Aren't you afraid it will trick you?"

"Trick me? Why would it trick me?" Richard asked in return, "We've never met before."

"Can we control it?"

"Well, in that case, you can't stay either."

"Ah, no, this… this is different."

Watching Hog, who was going in circles and had talked herself into a bind, Richard chuckled softly and waved her off, signaling her not to obsess over it.

Then Richard asked, "Hog, do you think Main Control is the same as you?"

"Ah?" Hog was taken aback, then shook her head, "We're definitely not the same."

"Then why do you think its way of thinking would be the same as yours?"

"This… isn't this a very normal way of thinking? A slave Artifact Spirit betraying its master for freedom or something like that."

"Where did you hear about such things?"

"Uhh..." Hog was a bit embarrassed, "Fire Lizard's novels."

"Is Fire Lizard an Artifact Spirit or Main Control?"

"No."

"Then there's the problem," Richard clapped his hands, "You don't even know what Main Control is really thinking, yet you've already assumed it will do harm.

Isn't that pure slander?

If someone were to put that kind of label on me, no matter what I thought before, I'd definitely take them out first. Of course, Main Control might not necessarily do that."

"But... you're still gambling."

Upon hearing this, Richard was briefly stunned and then burst out laughing.

"Hog, oh Hog, the power you gained was too easy, making you believe that obtaining power should be that simple. However, the power given by bloodlines has its limits. When your bloodline can no longer provide you with power, you'll hear what I'm about to say.

On the road to seeking power, risk often means reward. If you lack courage, mediocrity will welcome you with open arms."

"In this galaxy, mediocre people cannot control their own destiny."
