Wizard Lord:I can Extract Anything

Chapter 395: Chapter 395: The Great Wizard's Commission

The Inner World.

Grand Wizard Galon examined the crystalline artifact before him with curiosity, manipulating it experimentally.

In the distance, a towering demonic deity brandished a bone staff, reducing strands of World Tree roots to ashes.

Though the Inner World had become a scorched wasteland due to ancient wars, it was also littered with remnants of those battles.

So, in rare moments of respite, Grand Wizard Galon would explore these ruins.

After all, the decisive factor in his battle against the World Tree lay not here, but in the Outer World.

"How does this thing work again?"

Galon scratched his head in frustration, continuously adjusting his Magic Power.

For a Wizard of his caliber, such Precursor artifacts weren't much more complex than standard Magic Equipment.

With slight modifications to his Magic Power, he could easily operate Precursor relics.

Long ago, Galon had acquired the method for using such items from other Great Wizards. But having not used it in so long, even he struggled to recall the details.

So, he relied on his own experience to make adjustments.

Suddenly, Galon let out a triumphant cheer.

"Hey, got it!"

Before him, a pitch-black Crystal Ball lit up with intricate patterns.

After tens of thousands of attempts, he had finally succeeded.

"Seems like a communication device," Galon muttered uncertainly, studying the Crystal Ball.

He sensed a faint energy ripple vanish into the void.

Before he could attempt anything further, the Crystal Ball projected a three-dimensional figure clad in black robes.

"Hmm? Richard!"

Galon was visibly surprised by the projection.

Richard had left a deep impression on him.

Not only had he uprooted a World Tree Sub-body at the war's onset, but the mark of a Great One upon him was equally unforgettable.

Few Wizards at the Third Circle level bore the mark of such an entity.

"Long time no see, Dean," Richard's projection greeted with a Wizard Salute. "I'm truly relieved to see you're well."

Galon waved dismissively, signaling the formality was unnecessary, then smiled. "What could possibly happen to me? Just a sapling, after all.

But you—seems luck's on your side. You've managed to acquire the legacy of The Lost Ones?"

Richard chuckled. "Haha, thanks to you, my gains have been plentiful."

"Good to hear." Galon nodded slightly before shifting the topic. "I'll be borrowing this for now. When you return to the Floating City, hand it over to Jimmy.

I need to establish contact with him to stay updated on the Outer World's developments."

"Ah, about that..."

Noticing Richard's hesitation, Galon frowned. "I'm not taking it permanently. Once the war ends, it'll be returned.

What, unwilling to lend it? Or does it have usage restrictions?"

"Neither. It's just... I can't take it with me," Richard replied helplessly. "And honestly, I don't even know where I am. Even if I could bring it back, I've no idea how to return.

I ended up here after accidentally triggering a teleportation array."

Hearing this, Grand Wizard Galon's brow furrowed deeply.

"This isn't good news. The World Tree Sub-body in the surface world is preparing a counterattack. You probably haven't received Jimmy's message, have you?"

"Huh?"

Richard was stunned upon hearing Grand Wizard Galon's words.

"I sent the message to Jimmy two months ago," Grand Wizard Galon said slowly. "Assess your own capabilities. If you're capable, return. If not, hide in the Secret Realm... Wait, no—you can't hide in the Secret Realm."

"Because if the war in the surface world takes a turn for the worse, I'll forcibly break the barrier between the surface and inner worlds. If you hide in the Secret Realm, you might lose your spatial coordinates and never return."

"Huh? Can't you just come back directly?" Richard asked in surprise.

Grand Wizard Galon shook his head. "No, the World Tree has grown wiser these past two years. Recently, it broke through my spatial anchor and sent a counterattack order to its Sub-body in the surface world."

"Then, before I could react, it reinforced the spatial anchor, leaving both of us unable to return normally."

As he spoke, Grand Wizard Galon pinched the bridge of his nose, looking exasperated.

He had a rather favorable impression of Richard. The Wizard civilization needed talented Wizards like him. Moreover, being marked by a Great Presence likely meant Richard had something special about him.

For such a talent, he still wanted to save him if possible.

Suddenly, Grand Wizard Galon noticed Richard seemed to be communicating with something else.

Soon, Richard's face lit up with excitement. "Dean, is there a massive black crystal disc near you?"

"Crystal disc?"

Grand Wizard Galon extended his spiritual sense, and the entire ruins unfolded clearly before him.

Quickly, he located something matching Richard's description in the basement of the ruins.

"Yes, there is. Why?"

"Well, that disc is a teleportation device. I just tested it, and your spatial anchor temporarily has no effect on it."

"No effect!?"

Grand Wizard Galon's eyes widened. The spatial anchor could trap even him and the World Tree—how could a mere machine bypass it? "Hold on, let me take a look."

With that, Grand Wizard Galon grabbed the communicator and strode straight toward the crystal disc. The crystal walls in his path shattered like paper as he crashed through them.

Soon, he arrived at the basement where the disc was located. After confirming it was indeed functional, his mind raced with possibilities.

Shortly after, he addressed Richard's projection. "Richard, I have a mission for you."

"Go ahead."

"Although this disc can bypass the spatial anchor, I estimate it only has one teleportation opportunity. After that, the World Tree will surely block it."

"So I plan to make it more valuable. I'll use it to send you a beast puppet—it has some combat capabilities. Your mission is to escort this beast puppet back to the Floating City."

"Escort a beast puppet?"

Richard's expression twisted with conflict upon hearing the mission details.

Frankly, the task was highly difficult and extremely dangerous.

He was currently hiding in the ancient battlefield, which would likely shield him from the World Tree's counterattack. But if he had to return, he wasn't sure he could make it through the insect tides.

"I know this mission is quite challenging," Grand Wizard Galon said with a solemn expression. "But if you succeed, the war in the outer world should be under control.

When that time comes, I will record your name as the top contributor in the merit book."

Seeing Grand Wizard Galon so serious, Richard understood that refusal was likely not an option.

The state of the war in the outer world directly affected the future of Galon Wizard Academy for nearly half an era. If the war were lost, the academy would struggle to regain its current strength within half an era.

Richard vaguely guessed that the wizards of Galon Wizard Academy were of great use to Grand Wizard Galon.

He was unwilling to suffer large-scale losses.

"Alright, Dean. All I can say is I'll do my best," Richard replied helplessly.

Grand Wizard Galon nodded in satisfaction. "Good. Just do what you can."

With that, Richard watched as Grand Wizard Galon snapped off his own little finger and then signaled for the teleportation to begin.

Richard raised his hand, and the fortress's main control activated the teleportation device.

In an instant, a fine spatial rift formed above the circular platform. Then, the fissure abruptly widened, and a terrifying aura seeped through, causing everyone present—except Ulysses—to weaken at the knees.

"Is this the powerhouse you mentioned, my lord?" the Serpent King stammered. "This strength... it must already be at the level of a sixth-tier creature."

"More than that," Richard exhaled and shook his head slightly.

Soon, a little finger fell out of the rift. Immediately after, the spatial fissure abruptly closed.

Before it vanished, Richard caught a glimpse of something resembling roots flashing by.

Once the finger emerged, it began to rapidly regenerate. In moments, it transformed into a white bear.

The bear opened its mouth and spoke in Grand Wizard Galon's voice: "This is a beast puppet—consider it a higher-grade synthetic beast.

Its constitution is at 300 points, already surpassing mortal limits. It also knows many advanced combat techniques, so it should be a decent asset for you."

With that, the white bear walked over to Richard's side, standing like a loyal bodyguard.

"Three hundred points..."

Hearing the number, Richard's lips twitched slightly.

A beast puppet with such a constitution, and Grand Wizard Galon described it as merely "a decent asset"?

Richard felt this thing could take on two of him without breaking a sweat.

Who was escorting whom here?

"Your new dean is terrifyingly strong, Richard," Ulysses said, watching the vanished spatial rift with lingering fear as he rubbed his chest.

The last time Grand Wizard Galon made a move, both Richard and Ulysses had hidden in the Secret Realm, so they hadn't witnessed it firsthand.

This was Ulysses' first time seeing Grand Wizard Galon's true power.

"This one... feels even stronger than the... sixth-tier World Master," Ulysses muttered, catching himself mid-sentence and glancing warily at the beast puppet.

Who knew if the puppet had memory functions? Better to be cautious.

"Being called the strongest below the Truth isn't just for show," Richard replied offhandedly.

Rubbing his temples as he studied the beast puppet, he began pondering his next steps.

How was he supposed to get back now?

...

Deep in the dense forest, a black-robed wizard darted through the trees like lightning.

Even though his face was pale, drenched in sweat, and his mental energy was nearly depleted, he dared not slow down even for a second.

Behind it, a tide of biological weapons swallowed one towering tree after another.

Such a massive insect tide naturally required sustenance. Aside from devouring each other, the towering trees of the dense forest became the prime targets for the swarm.

And behind the insect tide, colossal trees took heavy steps, swinging their branches and vine whips like shepherds, driving the swarm toward a predetermined direction.

These towering trees were originally the Guardian Forest of the World Tree Sub-body. But under the command of the World Tree's main body, the Guardian Forest—along with the Sub-body—uprooted itself entirely, advancing toward the Floating City.

The World Tree's counterattack was coming.
