Wizard + System

Chapter 179: CH247 - CH249

CH247

If someone was too old, the Amanda potion might burn through their lifespan entirely, preventing them from breaking through to become a full-fledged wizard.

Of course, this wasn't always the case. Many people had still managed to break through after the age of eighteen.

However, statistically speaking, the chances of breaking through before eighteen were the highest and safest.

After eighteen, one's lifespan became insufficient, making the breakthrough extremely dangerous.

Elisa knew all of this. Dino had mentioned it before, and she had read many related books.

But now, with her lifespan extended by 300 years, Elisa no longer had to worry about the age limit of eighteen.

She had plenty of time, and her chances of becoming a full-fledged wizard were much higher.

With this in mind, Elisa began planning her future cultivation.

Of course, the first thing she needed to do was contact Uncle Dino and have him send over some resources.

Naturally, she wouldn't mention the World Tree sap. Helag had specifically told her not to reveal anything about it, so she wasn't going to tell anyone, not even Uncle Dino.

***

At Blackrock Valley.

It wasn't until three or four in the afternoon that Asna finally woke up. Stretching lazily, she climbed out of bed and noticed that one of her black stockings was still half-on, half-off.

She had been so exhausted from last night's activities that she had fallen asleep immediately after.

Sitting on the edge of the bed, Asna removed the stocking from her leg.

Looking around, she saw clothes scattered all over the floor.

She gathered them up, planning to wash them later.

On the table in the room were some pastries, still warm, indicating they hadn't been there long.

After tidying up the room, Asna took a bath and washed the clothes.

When she went downstairs with a basket of laundry, she still didn't see Helag and wondered where he had gone.

Asna went to the inner courtyard of the castle and hung the clothes out to dry.

As she was about to head back upstairs, she suddenly heard a voice behind her.

"Asna, perfect timing. Come with me to the basement. I need to take a bit of your blood for an experiment," Helag said.

"Okay," Asna replied, her long hair still damp from her bath.

She had been wanting to see Helag's laboratory for a while. She had studied herbalism and potion-making but hadn't had the chance to put her knowledge into practice.

Helag had been meaning to study Asna's bloodline for some time, but it hadn't been convenient at Base 27.

Now that they were back at Blackrock Valley, he could finally do so.

***

In the basement.

Shatia was currently observing a small seedling. Ever since Helag had taught her some basics, she had quickly grasped the concepts of potion-making.

Recently, she had been working on a potion that could help plants grow faster, though it was still in the experimental phase.

Helag pricked Asna's finger with a needle, collecting a few drops of her blood.

He then moved to a small, separate laboratory to begin his research.

Taking a deep breath, Helag summoned the shadow of the ancient stone tablet behind him.

In his perception, Asna's bloodline wasn't particularly strong, but it did have some strange, unique abilities.

Helag decided to use his "Dark Heaven" ability to absorb the bloodline power within Asna's blood.

This was the simplest and most direct method to determine if there was any hidden bloodline power.

If it were ordinary human or magical creature blood, "Dark Heaven" wouldn't react and wouldn't absorb any bloodline power.

But as Helag's mana touched Asna's blood, a mysterious power was indeed absorbed.

"There really is bloodline power," Helag thought, excited, and continued using "Dark Heaven" to absorb the bloodline power.

After absorbing the bloodline power, Helag quickly understood.

[Eye of True Sight: Able to see through the origins of all bloodlines.]

The information was simple, but Helag had a feeling that this was an incomplete bloodline power.

Compared to other bloodline powers, the "Eye of True Sight" felt incomplete, as if it were missing parts.

This explained why Asna had such a unique talent, but Helag hadn't sensed a particularly strong bloodline power in her.

Asna only had a fragment of her bloodline power, with most of it missing.

"I wonder what the complete version of this bloodline power would be like."

Helag pondered. He had a feeling that if Asna's bloodline were complete, it might not be much weaker than the Thunder God Ancestor's bloodline.

This suggested that Asna's ancestors were likely extraordinary, leaving behind a bloodline of this caliber.

Bloodline inheritance worked this way. Unless both parents had the same bloodline, the power would weaken with each generation until it eventually disappeared.

Asna's case was special. Some people with ancestors who had powerful bloodlines could experience a sudden bloodline awakening many generations later.

That was what had happened to Asna. However, her bloodline awakening was incomplete, leaving her with only a fragment of the power.

Helag speculated that Asna's spellcaster talent was likely related to this.

Her younger brother, Lins, had no talent at all—he was just an ordinary person without even the aptitude for knighthood.

This further confirmed that Asna's talent was a special case, the result of a bloodline awakening.

***

After leaving the lab, Helag found Asna and Shatia studying the seedling together.

"The seed sprouted and grew into this seedling in just half an hour?" Asna asked in surprise.

Shatia, feeling proud, replied, "Yes, I've been working on this potion for months. It helps seeds sprout and grow quickly."

Helag walked over, stroked his chin, and said, "But it looks like your seedling is about to wither."

"Huh? No way!" Shatia quickly looked down.

She saw that the seedling's leaves were starting to show yellow spots, and soon after, the leaves began to shrivel and wilt, as if they were dehydrated.

"How did this happen?" Shatia stomped her foot in frustration. She had thought her experiment was a success, but it seemed there were still side effects.

"Keep working on it," Helag said with a smile, patting Shatia on the head.

Since Shatia had nothing else to do all day, he figured it was fine to let her continue experimenting.

Helag then said, "Tomorrow, let's go to Whitefang Castle and stay there for a few days."

"Yes! I've been cooped up here for so long and haven't gone out at all," Shatia said excitedly, thrilled at the prospect of finally leaving the valley.

Whitefang Castle was a lively place, and Shatia had come from there before.

Asna, though unfamiliar with Whitefang Castle, could tell from Shatia's reaction that it was probably a fun place.

CH248

Helag mainly considered that Asna had been cooped up at Base 27 for a long time, and Shatia had also been stuck in Blackrock Valley for quite a while.

Both of them were probably bored out of their minds. Since Helag didn't have much to do in the next few days, he decided to take them to Whitefang Castle for a short stay.

Once they entered the Land of Dawn, they would likely return to a busy and tense lifestyle.

The next morning, Helag and his group boarded a carriage bound for Whitefang Castle, with Brack joining them.

Helag was now crucial to the Terchy family, and his safety had to be ensured.

Brack followed closely, serving as a bodyguard to ensure Helag wouldn't encounter any danger.

When they arrived at Whitefang Castle, Shatia and Asna walked arm in arm beside Helag, while Brack trailed behind, acting as a bodyguard.

It was quite a sight to see a crystallization-level wizard from the Terchy family willingly playing the role of a bodyguard, drawing curious glances from passersby.

Brack didn't care about these looks. As long as Helag was safe, that was all that mattered.

As for the wizards who eyed him strangely, they simply didn't understand.

They had no idea what Seranthiel was.

They had no idea what it meant to be a wizard of Seranthiel.

They didn't understand how bright the future of the Terchy family was.

Being Helag's bodyguard was entirely worth it, and soon, Brack might not even have the chance to serve as his bodyguard anymore.

The streets of Whitefang Castle were bustling with people.

Asna, for the first time in a while, smiled with the joy of a young girl, chatting and laughing with Shatia as they strolled.

In just a few short days, they had become close like sisters.

"Wow, such beautiful ladies! We just got a new batch of dresses in, and they would look amazing on you two. Want to come in and take a look?" A young saleswoman, in her twenties, standing at the entrance of a clothing store, brightened up when she saw Shatia and Asna.

She had been working at the store for years but had never seen two girls as beautiful as them.

Her compliment was genuine, though the latter half was her professional instinct kicking in.

Shatia and Asna looked over and saw that the store was quite large, filled with all kinds of clothing in various styles.

The sight of so many beautiful clothes made them freeze in place, unable to move.

Then, in perfect sync, they both turned to look at Helag.

Helag smiled helplessly. "Go ahead and take a look. Buy whatever you like."

Since this trip was meant to be a relaxing one, Helag had no objections.

Hearing Helag's approval, Shatia and Asna happily entered the store.

The saleswoman, whose name tag read "Tobeka," bowed respectfully to Helag and Brack, recognizing that they were important figures.

Helag noticed her name tag but remained quiet, following behind the girls as they browsed the store.

Brack, on the other hand, found a chair at the entrance and sat down, watching the bustling street.

An hour later.

Helag finally understood why Brack had immediately found a chair to sit in—clearly, he was experienced.

Shatia and Asna had been shopping for a full hour, buying who knows how many clothes, and still hadn't stopped.

Judging by their excitement, they could probably keep going for a while, completely unaware of how much time had passed.

Helag had underestimated the shopping enthusiasm of women, especially two women.

Given how stunning they both were, everything they tried on looked good, so they couldn't stop.

Helag chuckled and sat down at the entrance as well. Since they were out to have fun, he didn't see the need to interrupt them.

Another hour passed before Asna finally realized they might have been shopping for a bit too long.

She glanced at Helag, who was sitting by the entrance, and whispered to Shatia, "Shatia, do you think we've shopped enough? We've been at it for a while."

Shatia thought for a moment. "Hmm… maybe, but it doesn't feel like we've been shopping that long. Still, it's probably not good to keep Lord Helag waiting, so let's stop here."

Helag overheard their conversation and walked in, saying, "It's fine. If you want to keep shopping, go ahead. We don't have anything else to do, so it's no problem to buy more."

Asna, holding a dress in her hands, replied, "No, we've been shopping for a long time already. Let's stop here."

"Yeah, we've got enough," Shatia agreed.

Helag nodded. "Alright, then let's settle the bill. Tobeka, how much is it in total?"

"The total comes to 1,300 gold coins," Tobeka quickly responded.

Asna's eyes widened in shock. She hadn't expected the clothes they picked out to cost so much. "My lord, that's too much. We should return some. I can't wear all of these."

Helag waved his hand dismissively. "No need. We'll buy them all."

With a wave of his hand, he placed a pile of gold coins on the counter.

Helag currently had over a hundred thousand gold coins, seven to eight thousand magic stones, and hundreds of magic crystals.

To him, there weren't many places where he could actually spend gold coins.

He didn't live much in the world of ordinary people, and most of his transactions were done using magic stones, rarely using gold coins.

As a result, over the years, his stash of gold coins had only grown.

If it weren't for this trip to Whitefang Castle, he wouldn't have had a chance to spend them.

Behind Tobeka were two carts piled high with clothes, all of which belonged to Shatia and Asna.

With a wave of his hand, Helag stored all the clothes in his spatial ring and said, "Later, I'll get each of you a spatial ring. It'll make things more convenient."

"Thank you, Lord Helag!" Shatia and Asna both hugged Helag's arms from either side.

Inside the store, other men who had accompanied their female companions for shopping looked on enviously at Helag.

Shatia and Asna were both incredibly beautiful and had stunning figures. With Helag flanked by them, the other men couldn't help but feel jealous.

After leaving the clothing store, Helag and his group went to another shop and bought two spatial rings at a price of 300 magic stones each.

The spatial rings were about the size of a small room—not too large, but enough for the girls' daily use.

After spending the day shopping around Whitefang Castle, they had dinner and returned to the Terchy family's store.

The top two floors of the store were reserved as hotel rooms for family members. Helag placed the two piles of clothes on the bed, letting Asna and Shatia store them in their own spatial rings.

"Hmm, what's this?" Helag noticed a black garment in Asna's pile of clothes. He picked it up, not recognizing it at first.

After a moment, he realized it was a full-body black silk lingerie set, a rather revealing outfit.

Asna's face turned bright red as she quickly snatched the lingerie and stuffed it into her spatial ring, whispering, "I know you like it, so I bought it…"

CH249

"I like it?" Helag couldn't help but laugh.

The way Asna said it made it sound like he enjoyed wearing it himself.

Shatia, with her innocent expression, leaned over curiously. "Sister Asna, what kind of clothing is that? It looks so strange."

Asna's face turned bright red. "Let's not talk about this…"

Helag chuckled and interrupted, "Shatia, tonight Asna and I are sharing the bed. Where will you sleep? We only have one room."

"Huh? I… I'll sleep with you both," Shatia said.

Helag and Asna exchanged a glance, both seeing the helplessness in each other's eyes.

Helag looked at the bed—it was big enough, so they could all fit.

Tonight, they would just get some proper rest; the past few days had been exhausting.

***

After spending over twenty days at Whitefang Castle, the group returned to Blackrock Valley.

During this time, Helag spent his days accompanying Asna and Shatia around Whitefang Castle, enjoying food, drinks, and entertainment.

At night, he focused on meditation and cultivation, slowly solidifying the twenty-first star in his mind.

Reese and David had also arrived at Blackrock Valley, and the once quiet castle became lively.

They were preparing to travel with Helag to the Land of Dawn through Seranthiel's channels.

After arriving at Blackrock Valley, Reese quickly became close with Asna and Shatia. The three women spent their days together, forming a tight bond.

There were even several occasions when the three of them shared a room, leaving Helag alone to guard an empty bed.

***

Half a month later.

Brack came to the castle to find Helag, handing him a ring. "Helag, inside this ring are 100,000 magic stones, a token of our Terchy family's sincerity."

"100,000 magic stones? That's not just a token of sincerity," Helag said, surprised by the Terchy family's generosity.

Though they were wealthy, 100,000 magic stones was still a significant sum, and gathering that much in a short time wasn't easy.

The fact that they were willing to give him such a large amount showed that the Terchy family was determined to invest heavily in Helag.

"Magic stones are just resources. The higher-ups in the Terchy family all have high hopes for you. We want you to go far in the Land of Dawn, and you'll definitely need magic stones when you first arrive," Brack said with a smile.

Helag smiled wryly. "You're putting a lot of faith in me. That's a lot of pressure."

Brack nodded. "The Land of Dawn won't be easy to navigate, but as long as you remain cautious like you are now, you should be fine. By the way, are you planning to take Asna and Shatia with you, or will they stay here?"

Helag thought for a moment. He had been considering this issue recently.

Both Shatia and Asna had signed master-servant contracts with him, making them his personal belongings. According to the rules, he could take them to the Land of Dawn.

However, both Asna and Shatia were only third-level wizard apprentices. In the Barrens, that level of strength was decent, but in the Land of Dawn, it might not even be enough for them to protect themselves.

More importantly, Helag didn't know what to expect in the Land of Dawn.

There were too many unknowns for him there.

If trouble arose, Helag might not be able to take care of himself, let alone protect Shatia and Asna.

Shatia's identity was also sensitive. As a royal elf, she could be a valuable asset to wizards involved in the ongoing wars. If her identity were exposed, Helag doubted he could protect her.

At least, not until he had enough power. There were many things beyond his control.

For these reasons, Helag leaned toward leaving Shatia and Asna behind in Blackrock Valley until he had a better understanding of the Land of Dawn.

Without them, he would have fewer concerns and could act more freely.

For Asna and Shatia, staying in Blackrock Valley was the safest and most secure option.

The valley was protected by a wizard array, making it difficult for wizards from the Barrens to break through.

"I've thought about it, and I think it's best for them to stay here for now. I'll have to trouble you to take care of them," Helag said.

Brack nodded. "A wise choice. Their safety is guaranteed with the Terchy family. We don't know much about the Land of Dawn, so we can't help you there. Leaving them here is the best decision."

Reese and David would accompany Helag to the Land of Dawn. Both were first-level wizards, capable of protecting themselves, which would allow Helag to focus more on his own tasks.

After discussing a few more matters with Brack, Helag returned to the castle to inform Asna and Shatia of his decision.

Shatia looked a bit disappointed. She had hoped to travel with Helag, but now she would have to stay behind for a while longer.

Asna, on the other hand, seemed to have expected this. Her expression didn't change, and she comforted Shatia, saying, "It's okay, Shatia. I'll be here with you. Lord Helag has no choice. If we went with him, it would only add to his worries."

"Yeah, I understand," Shatia said, though she still felt reluctant.

Reese, standing nearby, laughed and leaned against Helag. "Don't worry, sisters. I'll take good care of Helag."

Asna and Shatia both rolled their eyes at Reese, knowing this was just her personality.

***

Half a month passed peacefully.

Helag, Reese, Asna, and Shatia were crouched in the potion field, picking a type of grape called Black Crystal.

Black Crystal was both a potion ingredient and a delicious fruit, though it was quite expensive.

Buzz, buzz, buzz…

Suddenly, Helag heard a buzzing sound from outside. He looked up and saw a black dot emerging from the clouds in the distance.

The others in Blackrock Valley also heard the sound and looked up at the sky.

As the black dot drew closer, they could make out its shape.

It was a ship—an airship.

From afar, it looked small, but as it approached, they could see that the airship had seven levels.

Cannons hung on both sides of the airship, resembling those found on sea vessels.

However, these were clearly not ordinary cannons; their appearance and aura were different.

As the airship drew nearer, the rumbling sound grew louder, filling the entire Blackrock Valley.

Brack tensed up for a moment, but then seemed to realize something and relaxed. "That must be an airship from the Land of Dawn. I've heard about them before."

"An airship?" Helag continued observing the vessel.

Just from this airship alone, it was clear that the magical industrial level of the Land of Dawn was on a completely different level from the Barrens.

The airship was a combination of many technologies, none of which had made their way to the Barrens.
