Chapter 3: "The Ember and the Eclipse"
The sun had barely kissed the morning sky when Prizey and Aliyah walked through the college gates, their footsteps syncing with the steady hum of student chatter .
Prizey's hand brushed against her neck , the one place her tattoo at the left side of her neck burned like fire . But today the heat wasn't dull . It was alive.
As soon as she stepped into the classroom, a sharp , searing pain shot through her arm . Her breath hitched.
"Prizey"? Aliyah noticed the sudden change.
But Prizey didn't respond. She darted from the classroom, her vision blurring, bolting towards the washroom. The moment the door locked behind her , she collapsed to the floor , clutching her glowing tattoo. The wolf's eyes within it .... turned a burning blue .
Her body shook violently. She bit into her palm , muffling a scream , while outside Aliyah banged on the door.
"Prizey .... please open the door! Talk to me !' I'm scared".
Twenty minutes passed..
When the door finally creaked open, a pale Prizey emerged -- her neck was red , lips cracked, and the marks of her own finger nails traced angry lines down her throat. Her emerald eyes were darker now , almost blackened by something.... ancient.
Back in class, she sat through the lecture like a ghost . And Aliyah, concerned beyond measure, dragged her straight to the cafeteria after.
"Max, say something to her ," Aliyah begged her boyfriend, who was also Prizey's cousin.
"I mean.... maybe it's just a birthmark.?"Max whispered...
"No, it's not," Aliyah whispered. It's something more. It glows."
"Guys, stop it ," Prizey interrupted, her voice trembling. " I said I'm fine. Drop it."
She grabbed her chocolate's and walked away --- not just from the table, but from the weight of questions that had no answer.
That night, dressed in a black hoodie, cap low over her eyes , she walked alone through the quite streets. Her thoughts spiraled , darker than the sky above.... until a scream shattered the silence.
Across the road, four boys concerned a terrified girl .
Prizey's blood boiled.
The next few seconds blurred --- fists , screams, and the sound of fear breaking bones. She wasn't just defending the girl --- she was releasing centuries of fury she couldn't explain.
Later, as she helped the poor girl up and walked her home , her heart calmed for the first time that day..
Meanwhile, in the rooftop of an old crumbling villa....
Xavier stood beneath the full moon , his breath heavy, tears streaking down his face .
"Why me?" he cried to the moon.
"Why am I the only one left? Where's my family? What kind of cursed is this....?"
He slammed his fist into the wall , his voice growl of agony. His shimmering blue-eyes ----once so full of life -- were dull now , grief-stricken.
And then....
He jumped.
In midair, his body shifted --fur erupted , bones cracked, a snarl echoed.
The wolf landed hard on the forest floor and ran , faster than the wind , howling in rage and sorrow as the entire jungle trembled in fear....
