Chapter 6: "Fate's Glimpse beneath the Moonlight"
She felt it---- a presence behind her.
Slowly, she turned.
And then.... she saw them
Two glowing, ocean-blue eyes.
Peaking from behind an old twisted tree..
Eyes that shimmered like the moon, cold , intense and not human.
The night felt silent.....
Even the trees seemed to hold their breaths..
Prizey freeze for a moment, her breath hitching. The eyes staring at her through the dark, were fixated but not with the affection, there was something unnerving in the way they watched her.
A haunting admiration.
She hesitated, then driven by a strong courage, begin walking towards them.
Just as she neared the tree, where those eerie eyes had appeared--- they vanished.
A chill climbed her spine.
The clock on her phone flashed, 1:30 AM.
Prizey sprinted towards the old tree, heart pounding. The air around her thickened.
"Is someone here..?!" She called out, breathless.
Suddenly, a figure lunged from behind.
But Prizey's instincts honed by her sharp reflexes and heightened senses, kicked in. She twisted and dodged just in time.
She turned.
And what she saw, left her speechless.
He stood their, like something carved from a goddess's dream. Towering at 6' 4, his shirtless body was impossibly defined ---- abs etched like marble, shoulders broad and commanding. Pale skin shimmered under the silver moonlight. Black wolf-cut hair fell around a face partially hidden by dark mask. But his killer, sculpted abs was threatening her.
But nothing ---- nothing could hide those eyes.
Deep Ocean-blue , ferocious and beautiful. It felt as though the moon wasn't in the sky-- but glowing from his gaze.
Prizey's breath caught in her throat.
For a heartbeat, she forgot time, space and even who she was.
The boy stepped closer.
Xavier: "Who are you..?" He asked. His voice deep and commanding. "And what are you doing in my forest?"
His toned darkened. "Do you not value your life.... wandering into a wolf hunting ground?"
Prizey snapped back to reality.
Prizey (shaking but steadying): " I-- I....
Excuse me! This Forest doesn't belong to you. It's a public land, and I don't need your permission to be here.."
Xavier (smirking coldly): "Maybe, but if you value your life, you'll take your little circus and leave."
Prizey: " Watch your tone. Don't talk about my friends like that. And don't dare to act like you own me---- I'm not yours to command.."
Xavier's expressions hardened. His anger surged. Something within him, flickered...
---the beast beneath.
His hands clenched his breath. Quickened.
He was close to shifting into his wolf from.
But he stopped himself.
Xavier: " Stopped arguing.' or I'll---"
Before he could finish, Prizey's body reacted to her neck mark. The mysterious glowing sigil----- began to shimmer violently.
She gasped, pressing her palm against it.
Xavier noticed immediately.
She turned to leave.
But he stepped forward.
Xavier: " Where did you get that mark..? And how long have you had it...?"
Prizey looked at him. Defiant..
Prizey: " Actually, that's none of your business.."
She turned again, but Xavier grabbed her wrist, in a flash, he pinned her gently but firmly against the old tree, both her hands above her head.
He leaned in---- so close their noses almost touched.
His breath was warm. His presence overwhelming.
He tilted toward her neck, placing his hand gently on her mark.
The moment he did---
The pain vanished.
The glowing stopped.
For the first time in her life, the cursed been eased.
Prizey's body trembled. She tried to fight him off, but she was overpowered, not just by his strength---- but by the calm he brought.
Xavier smirked slightly, one hand sliding to her waist, pulling her closer.
Xavier (whispering in her ear): "So, it's you....my' "Wolfkissed soul..."
Prizey struggled: " What rubbish?!" Who even are you..?"
Xavier (softly): " The one, who's Fate tied to you.."
Prizey: " Leave me alone. And stay away from me, and my friends."
But Xavier was still watching her, like a man hypnotized by miracle.
She turned to go. Furious.
Xavier (playfully): " ohh sweetheart...now that I've found you, I never letting you go."
Prizey: " Shut up, I swear, I'll spill your blood if you come near me again."
Xavier grinned beneath the mask:
"Ahh, already thinking about kisses...?
"How bold"..
Prizey: "What..?"
Xavier: " Too late, I'm yours now... My wolfkissed soul."
Prizey growling: "I'm leaving, and I hope we never meet again."
Suddenly, a loud teasing voice broke the tension.
Xavier (from the trees): " ---Ohh darling....you know anger sometimes turns into love..."
"Better watch your heart..."
Prizey( replied with frustration): " Go to hell..."
Xavier: " ohh Oki."
(He shouted).....
Xavier, calm and unreadable , tilted his head slightly: "Now, how can I leave without you...?"
His smile was gone, as Prizey left him alone in the dark forest.....
(To be continued).....
