Chapter 50: Chapter 50: Flying Thunder God Slash; Blood-Soaked Bat King!
"Don't touch its blood!"
Hong Feng shouted urgently, but it was already too late.
A splash of dark red liquid from the blood-soaked bat struck Smith's arm. The moment it made contact, an intense burning sensation seared through his skin. The bat's blood was like acid, instantly corroding a layer of flesh.
Gritting his teeth against the pain, Smith drew his dagger and forcefully kicked the bat's twitching body away.
"Are you alright? I'll heal you," Hong Feng offered, preparing to channel energy into a healing spell.
Smith shook his head, his voice low and steady.
"No. Focus on supporting the captain. I can take care of myself."
Before Hong Feng could protest, white smoke began rising from Smith's wound. The skin regenerated rapidly, and within seconds, the injury had completely healed.
Muji Healing.
"That blood is dangerously corrosive," Smith muttered, analyzing the situation quickly. "We need to be more careful."
"Screee!"
Two more blood-soaked bats shrieked in the air, emitting twisted soundwaves that shot straight at them.
Smith's eyes snapped into the Sharingan, instantly analyzing the trajectory. He sidestepped swiftly, allowing the waves to pass harmlessly behind him and strike the ground.
Whoosh!
In one fluid motion, he flung a kunai into the air. The two bats easily dodged the predictable attack, clearly mocking him.
But in the next moment, a flash of light streaked across the battlefield. Smith, now holding a dagger, reappeared mid-air and pierced through one of the bats using the kunai as a marker.
Flying Thunder God Slash.
The move was so fast that the remaining bat barely had time to react before it met Smith's gaze—those crimson, spiraling tomoe eyes.
Genjutsu: Sharingan.
Boom!
The bat's consciousness was instantly trapped in an illusion. Monsters were even more vulnerable to illusions than humans, and Smith—now in Sage Mode, with third-level intermediate power—dispatched the creature with ease.
With that, the immediate threat was cleared, though fierce fighting continued on the other side of the battlefield.
Mingyun and his team were still engaged in combat with over a dozen blood-soaked bats.
Unlike ordinary ones, the Blood-Soaked Bat King—with a wingspan of over two meters—hovered ominously above the fray. Its red-tinged body exuded menace, a terrifying fourth-level beast that Smith was encountering for the first time.
With a powerful flap of its wings, it unleashed a dark green gale that howled like a net of wind, sweeping toward Mingyun's group.
Boom!
The wind walls Hong Feng had conjured for midair footing shattered instantly under the force of the Bat King's attack.
Reacting quickly, Mingyun jumped from one crumbling wind wall to another, facing the gale head-on. He crossed his arms in front of him and braced for impact.
Bang!
The sheer force sent him flying backward over ten meters, but he managed to stay airborne.
"Boss, your feet!" Hong Feng shouted, forming another wind wall beneath him just in time for him to stabilize.
Screech!
Enraged, the Blood-Soaked Bat King shifted its attention. It recognized Hong Feng's importance—without her, the others couldn't maintain aerial combat. With a surge, it darted toward her at blinding speed.
"Protect Hong Feng!" Mingyun barked as he and the others tried to intercept, but the remaining third-level bats blocked their path, surrounding and attacking them fiercely.
"Cover them!" Lan Feng's voice echoed through the air.
Lan Feng and his team responded immediately. Two massive fireballs ignited, growing into fiery waves that surged toward the Bat King with explosive force.
But it wasn't enough.
With a mighty flap, the Bat King split the fire wave into two massive tornadoes, sending them spinning off toward the Fierce Eagles on either side.
The flames scattered harmlessly. The Bat King was completely unfazed.
As it surged toward Hong Feng, Smith gripped his dagger tighter and stepped in front of her.
His task was clear: protect her at all costs.
Bang!
Just as the Bat King lunged forward, Smith met it head-on.
The Bat King didn't seem concerned. A casual flap of its wings sent several sharp green wind blades at Smith, moving at breakneck speed.
"Sharingan!"
With the advanced perception of his eyes, Smith dodged each one with precision. He closed the gap in an instant, aiming his dagger at the monster's chest.
Whoosh!
But the Bat King, a fourth-level monster, simply swerved its massive body aside and avoided the strike.
"Hong Feng!" Smith called out.
She understood immediately, conjuring a wind wall beneath his feet.
Bang!
Launching himself with explosive force, Smith shot upward and landed on the Bat King's back.
"Skreeee!"
Feeling the weight on its back, the Blood-Soaked Bat King began spinning rapidly in the air, trying to throw him off.
Smith gripped its thick neck tightly. Though not a beast-type fighter, his Sage Mode-enhanced strength rivaled one. He held on like a vice.
In a frenzied attempt to shake him loose, the Bat King spun violently while speeding away from the battlefield.
"Smith!" Hong Feng's heart jumped as she instinctively moved to chase, but Mingyun was still pinned down. He couldn't do without her support.
And no one else in the squad had the means to pursue the Bat King midair.
Boom!
After clearing the bats blocking their path, Mingyun's team returned to the bridge.
"You go help Smith. We'll take care of the rest," Mingyun commanded firmly.
He knew that if anything happened to Smith, Jiang Lei would tear them apart.
"Yes!" Hong Feng responded without hesitation.
Wings of wind spread behind her, and she soared into the air, chasing after the fleeing beast.
Fortunately, the Bat King's current goal wasn't escape—it was throwing Smith off—so its flight speed wasn't at full capacity. Within moments, Hong Feng caught sight of it.
The Bat King was now heading toward a cliff. Just before crashing into it, it suddenly twisted in midair and tried to slam Smith into the rock wall.
"Oh no!"
Smith's eyes widened as the cliff face rapidly approached.
Bang!
A violent collision echoed through the mountain pass.
