Chapter 156: Chapter 156: Qing Tan’s Path

Chapter 156: Qing Tan's Path

Three days passed quickly after the clan competition ended. Although the event was over, the excitement within the Lin Clan remained high, as the selection for the Great Yan Empire's seed representative was just about to begin.

In the main square of the Lin Clan, crowds of clan members had gathered, their gazes fixed on those standing in the center. These individuals would represent the Lin Clan in the Great Yan Empire's most prestigious selection. The one who won this position would then represent the empire in the legendary Hundred Empire War!

At the square's center, Lin Fan was giving instructions to the elders about the matters to handle in his absence. Nearby, Langtian looked at Lin Dong's eager expression and laughed.

"Brother Lin Dong, you seem in high spirits. Looks like you found a pretty good spiritual treasure in the clan's trove."

Lin Dong scratched his head with a slight smile. "You're right, Brother Langtian. In the clan's treasury, I found a powerful Earth-grade spiritual treasure called the Heavy Prison Peak. I owe it all to you, though, since you gave me the champion's reward. I really can't thank you enough!"

As Lin Dong spoke, he bowed gratefully to Langtian.

"So it was Heavy Prison Peak..." Langtian quickly pulled Lin Dong up and silently reflected on it. It turned out that Lin Dong, just like in the original timeline, managed to acquire this powerful Earth-grade treasure that could only be claimed by one with profound essence energy. Though Heavy Prison Peak was indeed valuable, Langtian now viewed it as less significant. Having advanced to the half-step Nirvana stage, only Heaven-grade treasures were truly worth his attention.

With a faint smile, Langtian added, "Oh, by the way, leaving Qing Tan behind in the clan might not have made her very happy."

Lin Dong paused, imagining his little sister pouting in frustration, and chuckled. "Knowing Qing Tan, that's probably true. But neither the seed selection nor the Hundred Empire War would be a good fit for her right now, so it's best to leave her here."

Langtian nodded in agreement. Leaving Qing Tan in the clan was a choice they'd made together, but each had their own reasons. For Lin Dong, it was to protect her from the violent and cutthroat world outside. For Langtian, though, there was more behind it.

Qing Tan was talented, with determination to match, rivaling even Lin Dong's. Langtian was confident that if she joined them, she'd likely perform well enough to join one of the super factions in East Xuan. But instead, Qing Tan's special Dark Enchanter Body made her a perfect fit for the Dark Hall, the ruler of the North Xuan Region. There, she could achieve her full potential, and perhaps even claim the Dark Hall's ancient Dark Ancestral Symbol as her own, making her a powerful ally for Langtian in the future.

"All set, then? Let's head out!" Lin Fan, having completed his instructions, called out with a sharp whistle.

Suddenly, from within the depths of the Lin Clan grounds came a thunderous roar, and a massive four-winged beast soared into view, its wings sweeping over the square. With a wave of his hand, Lin Fan leaped onto the beast's back, followed by Langtian and Lin Dong, and then over a hundred powerful Lin Clan warriors.

With the grand beast lifting them into the sky, they sped off toward the empire's capital city under the gaze of countless Lin Clan members below. This strong lineup showed just how seriously the Lin Clan took the upcoming selection.

Meanwhile, on a tall wall in Lin City, a graceful figure stood watching. Qing Tan gazed at the great beast carrying her brother and Langtian, her slender hands unconsciously clenching.

"Stubborn Brother Lin Dong, stubborn Brother Langtian… I won't just follow the path you've chosen for me!" she muttered, kicking a small stone in front of her.

She tilted her delicate, determined face skyward, watching the direction of the beast with resolve. "Just because you both think my skills are lacking and that I'd be a burden… Even Dad scolded me because of you!"

Though her words sounded harsh, her clear, crystal-like eyes gradually reddened. Gritting her teeth, she inhaled deeply, as though steeling herself for a big decision.

"Have you finally made up your mind?" a calm voice suddenly asked from behind her. Qing Tan turned to see a figure cloaked in black, appearing like a shadow at her back. A faint, chilling energy radiated from the figure, subtle yet powerful enough to crumble the wall beneath his feet from within.

Were Langtian here, he'd realize the stranger's strength surpassed even the Nirvana stage—proof of the Dark Hall's commitment to Qing Tan.

"I'll leave with you once Brother Langtian and Brother Lin Dong go to the Hundred Empire War," Qing Tan replied, biting her lip. "But if you can't make me stronger than both of them, you're nothing but a liar!"

The shadow chuckled softly. "Your talent already surpasses both Lin Dong's and Langtian's, though you lack their discipline. Your brother Lin Dong's determination is rare for his age, and Langtian… well, he holds more secrets than even I can fathom. But fulfilling your request should be possible."

Hearing this, Qing Tan nodded, her youthful voice carrying a hint of defiant spirit as it floated in the air.

"Hmph! Just go ahead and leave me behind, Brother Langtian and Brother Lin Dong. The next time you see me, I'll be stronger than both of you!"
